Hey Lions fans,

If you weren't yet, its time to start believing. One win away from the big dance.

I'm sure i'm not the only one in the same boat but what is the best process for booking grand final tickets, airfares, accommodation? I am a Brisbane Lions September member (so priority access to club grand final tickets). I never travel interstate unless organised by work. Is booking airfares and accommodation after the preliminary final leaving it too late? What is the best process? Any help appreciated!

For the 2022 Toyota AFL Grand Final, the number of tickets available for Club members to purchase is less than the total number of members we have. Brisbane Lions in conjunction with the AFL, endeavour to provide a fair system for members wishing to purchase tickets through the use of a ballot ticketing system.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE 2022 TOYOTA AFL GRAND FINAL

To register for a Grand Final ticket you will need your membership barcode number and any barcode number of members you wish to attend with. Members who wish to attend together must register in a group providing all membership barcode numbers in one transaction, using one credit card. A limit of eight (8) barcodes per transaction applies. Each member barcode will be charged a $3.50 non-refundable fee at time of registration to cover administration costs.

Members will be required to register for Grand Final tickets via the internet (by logging onto ticketek.com.au). Please ensure you have a My Ticketek Account before registering. If you don’t already have an account, we recommend logging onto ticketek.com.au and selecting ‘My Ticketek’ to create an account at least 24 hours prior to registration.

REGISTRATION FORM GUIDE & INFORMATION

The Brisbane Lions will email you with the registration link and confirm your member priority group and registration time.

Visit Ticketek and log into your My Ticketek account. As the credit card holder, you will need to ensure that you are a My Ticketek member to continue with the registration process.

  1. Click on the Brisbane Lions 2022 Toyota AFL Grand Final Registration tile on the Ticketek homepage.
  2. Select your Priority Group from the drop-down menu on the right-hand side of the page
  3. Enter your member barcode(s) in the box provided and click ‘Apply Now’. Each barcode registered will be charged a non-refundable $3.50 fee at the end of the registration process.
  4. The next page will prompt you to select your ticket preference. You will have the choice of the following two options:
  5. I will accept the next best available ticket – including Standing Room
  6. I will accept the next best available reserved seat – no Standing Room
  7. To register each member for a Grand Final ticket select ‘1’ from the drop down list next to each ballot price type. Repeat this for each barcode. Select the listed delivery method and then proceed to the payment screen.
  8. The next page will confirm your registration. Please read these details carefully and review all information before proceeding. Read the terms and conditions and check the box stating that you agree. Submit payment.
  9. Once the registration is complete and your credit card has been authorised, you will be transferred to the confirmation page and sent an email confirming your registration with your Ticketek Customer ID. Keep this and the membership barcodes supplied as reference of your registration.
Please note: Should you encounter any issues with your barcodes when you are trying to register within your priority period, please do not panic, we recommend you contact Brisbane Lions MemberHQ on 07 3335 1777 immediately to rectify the issue.

WHAT DOES THE PRIORITY GROUP MEAN AND HOW DOES IT WORK IN THE BALLOT?

Each Brisbane Lions membership type is categorized into three priority groups. Across the registration process and ballot allocation process, the groups will be worked through in order One, Two then Three.

PRIORITY 1 (P1)
Season members (Reserved Seat, General Admission, Traditional Victorian & Victorian Plus) + September Member upgrade
Global Lion + September Member upgrade
Supporter & Lion Cub members located outside of QLD & VIC + September Member upgrade
Members with a Coaches Club upgrade

Registration Time – 8am-12pm on Thursday 15 September (should the Brisbane Lions qualify for the Preliminary Final)
* Any Priority 1 members who do not register in the designated time frame or instead elect to register within the Priority 2 or Priority 3 time frame will have waived their right to a Priority 1 ticket. It does not matter what time you register during the designated timeframe as all registrations will be randomised to determine the order in which tickets will be allocated.

At the time of registration, members can elect not to receive Standing Room ticket(s), however we strongly recommend all members select Option 1 – ‘I will accept the best available ticket – including Standing Room’ at the time of registering to retain (P1) access to a Grand Final ticket.

PRIORITY 2 (P2)

Season members (Reserved Seat, General Admission, Traditional Victorian & Victorian Plus)
Global Lion
Supporter & Lion Cub located outside of QLD & VIC
3 Game (Reserved Seat, General Admission, Verandah & Ultimate Weekender) + September Member upgrade
Flexi11 + September Member upgrade

Registration Time – 1pm - 5pm on Thursday 15 September (should the Brisbane Lions qualify for the Preliminary Final).
Any Priority 2 members who do not register in the designated time frame or instead elect to register with Priority 3 members will have waived their right to the Priority 2 ballot.

At the time of registration, members can elect not to receive Standing Room ticket(s), however we strongly recommend all members select Option 1 – ‘I will accept the best available ticket – including Standing Room’ at the time of registering. You will reduce your chance of being successful in obtaining a Grand Final ticket if you elect not to receive a Standing Room ticket at time of registration.

PRIORITY 3 (P3)

3 Game (Reserved Seat, General Admission, Verandah & Ultimate Weekender),
Flexi11
Registration Time - 6pm - 9pm on allocated day
Priority 3 members will be allocated Grand Final tickets after the registrations of Priority 1 and Priority 2 have been fulfilled.

CHEER SQUAD MEMBERS

Please refer to the email sent to you from MemberHQ for the date and time of your registration period.

REGISTRATION OPTIONS

The following ticket options will be provided for members to select when registering:

I will accept the next best available ticket – including Standing Room
Members can receive Category 1-7 seating, Restricted View or Standing Room ticket. These will be allocated on the next best available basis.

I will accept the next best available reserved seat – no Standing Room
Members can receive a Category 1-7 or Restricted View reserved seating only. Members will not be allocated a Standing Room ticket.

Tickets will be allocated via ballot on a next best available basis, and therefore members can receive a Category 1-7 Reserved Seat, Restricted View Seat or Standing Room ticket. If you select option 2 and all reserved seat tickets have been allocated when your registration is next to be processed, you will not be issued a Grand Final Ticket.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE INFORMATION

Members who have a medical requirement for access to mobility impaired ticketing or who hold a companion card do not register via the ballot as outlined above. These Members must complete a special registration form and return to membership@lions.com.au by 12noon Monday September 12, 2022. Late registrations cannot be accepted.

Adult members may only purchase tickets at Adult prices and Concession and Junior members may only purchase at the Concession price. There is no Junior price for the 2022 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

Members wishing to attend together must register their group in one transaction using one credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Diners). There is a maximum of eight (8) tickets per transaction and members should be aware that registrations with more than one ticket are ‘one in all in’ or ‘one out all out’; group registrations will not be split.

If Brisbane Lions has qualified for the 2022 Toyota AFL Grand Final and members were successful in the ballot, the member who provided the credit card details during the ballot registration period must ensure they have sufficient funds available on their credit card in order to complete payment for the transaction based on the prices below. It is each member’s responsibility to ensure they have sufficient funds to cover the range of ticket prices in addition to the $3.50 non-refundable registration fee per barcode registered. Tickets will be allocated via ballot on a next best available basis, and therefore members can receive a Category 1-7 Reserved Seat, Restricted View seat or Standing Room* ticket (*depending on which ticket option was chosen during the registration process). The credit card holder should have enough funds to potentially pay for Category 1 tickets for all members registered in the transaction.

And very VERY much worth noting that the time you register should have been emailed to you at this point, and that email trumps what others may guess based off this post!

I got the register email a bit over an hour ago.

I was emphasising it because I thought I was priority 2 and it turned out I was priority 1 based off the time invite.

$3.50 per barcode just to register. Half of the members registering (i.e. 2 clubs-worth) will be donating to Ticketek. Fair bit of revenue raising there.

Will be 8 of us registering as a group but 3 of them are only P2, the rest of us are P1. No idea how that’s supposed to work with a mixture and where P1 can register before P2?

Got the same issue.. does everyone end up sitting together if P2 members get tickets? Or does it push P1s in the group back in the queue too?

A limit of 8 barcodes can be registered in one transaction so your group is okay in that part

However if it was me i would do the 5 P1 first at the allocated time (see your email or above).
Then the three P2 (see your email or above) at there time. Obviously the 2 groups won't be sitting together
You may want to say split 4 and 4 if children and/or elderley are involved

Apart from that, the way i read it you would have to register the 8 on the P2 allocated time, and hope you are all allocated a ticket

‘One in all in’ or ‘one out all out’ presents an issue. Imagine if the 5 of us who are P1 / September members were to miss out because one or more of the P2s in our 8 missed the ballot. We’re probably better doing the 5/3 split at the respective allocated times.

If all are adults that is the way to go

We have the same issue previously. We had to register all people in the lower category then - they said couldn't let all register in the higher category because the people in the lower category could knock out genuine people of the higher category.

FWIW if we make it and I get a seat will likely be looking at swapping it for a standing room ticket plus $ difference; same with all our group.

What is the standing room ticket? Like literally just standing the the middle of a group? Can you actually see the game?

So if I register 4 barcodes is it just my credit card getting whacked ? Or do all the other three members need to ensure they have funds etc ?

You reckon you will still be able to see .
I'm used to being close , but if we get there and we get tickets , it's going to be sureal to be there.
Maybe I'll choose best available incuding standing.
Only been to the G once and that was about 15 years ago , reserved seating lower level.
Collingwood v Carlton.
Was fantastic even though they were not really great viewing seats.
This time if we make it, would be a trip in a lifetime most probaby for us.

I would think it's the same as the other finals where the person booking the tickets has registed with ticketek with their credid card , so would come out of that one only.
Up to them to get the money from the other people

I’m priority 1 but I’m confused by the category of tickets. Does it mean you don’t get a choice of category - you get pulled out of a hat and the next seat available is allocated? It could be cat 1 pricing or cat 7?

Yep just get the money off them if we get to GF and you get tickets
Also make sure you have 4 x $435 (the highest ticket price) = $1740 available in the card you use
Even if you have some concession holders
You may end up with 4 x $155 but if you get allocated the dearest tickets and have insufficent funds you end up with no tickets
