At the end of the day for salary cap reasons the Pies had to decide between Maccaffer and Davis.

This where we differ Timmy. I don't think the choice was between MacCaffer & Davis. I think it was between Davis and 2013 list management. Davis' money goes into the 2012 signings and 2013 opens up with Tarrant's exit and likely Wood now. Davis went before a lot of new deals were structured. Toovey put himself in the same position and decicded to take the offer and stay.

The point is, they can sign the rest of the list and still chase a Lynch because the sacrifices have already been made. This is what all the journo's fail to realise when they talk about fitting everyone in.

honestly, could be quite a coup. We as a side like to play 3 tall forwards, Lynch has been a consistent, durable, old fashioned CHF with a big kick, he gets good inside 50's numbers, good total minutes on ground numbers, with Cloke looking more and more a power forward who can play closer to goals it will be nice to have an aggressive long kicking CHF to put the ball his way. Also leaves Dawes with the 3rd best defender, and the possibility of being a more permanent forward.

It is also a nice pressuriser for the likes of Paine, Goldsack, Witts and Celgar who will need to go past some incumbents rather than getting games by default.

Hope it means we are letting Wood go.

Carlton have been woeful in the modern area. Behind many clubs in many areas.

Hang your hat on events from a time when you weren't even born. Fact is Carlton supporters under the age of 18 haven't been alive when their team were 'premiers'. Carlton has won 1 final in 10 years and been awarded 3 wooden spoons in this time.

Fact is a significant number of Carlton's current support base have enjoyed success that the AFL Swans can only dream of. I will take the 8 premierships that Carlton have won in my lifetime over the 2 won by the Swans.

Carlton enjoyed significant success from 1967-2001 & finally bottomed out in 2002. To say that Carlton have been "woeful in the modern area (sic)" is absolute crap & comes across as a statement made by someone who is barely a teenager & therefore considers anything prior to the last few years to have not happened.

I wouldn't swap what I have experienced as a Carlton supporter in my lifetime for the recent little bit of success the Swans have achieved. The game's history stretches way back beyond the last decade, despite what your narrow mind would have us believe.
