Pies have a nucleus of premiership players and are a better chance, on paper, to win a flag over the next 2-3 seasons before Q's retirement.

Only reasons which I think would see him choose us over the Pies is (a) he knows Judd (b) we may be able to offer more money (c) he might want to play more forward than ruck, as no doubt at the Pies he would play 2nd ruck to Jolly a fair bit.

Why do you think that Lynch knowing Judd would be an attraction?

This really was increasing the terms of the contract. No bones about it.

Of course $$$ were the issue. Everything was about maximizing the total $$$ available in the contract. Length of contract and KPI's are central to that on both sides.

And yes. David Cloke appears to be a jack off doesn't he. Could have al been done behind closed doors, but I think the fact it's one of the best KPF's and Collingwood, mixed with Cloke Snr meant it was played out in the media. You'd have to be glad you don't have to deal with him for another 5 years or potentially never again wouldn't you?

Actually there was very little coming out of either camp. The media beat the story up to be bigger than it was. The biggest mistake (and maybe the only one) the Clokes made was the Footy Show appearance. Collingwood made very few public comments about the issue.

Not sure how unfortunate it is for WC. Didn't they suggest to him he'd be a fringe player next year?

That's what it sounds like, hopefully it could end up a win/win as he could be a good role player if we get him, and West Coast were honest enough with him as their forward stocks are looking pretty good.

Why wouldn't it?

I assume you are suggesting that the playing group at WCE dislike Judd (which is obviously untrue as he has many close friends there) because he left the club for more money.

Using that logic, why would Lynch hold a grudge over that when he himself is doing the exact same thing?

For what it's worth, my own personal view is that Judd left because he wanted to go home and Lynch is leaving for more opportunity as a forward.

Free agency has been a bonus for clubs wanting to exit players without having to organise a trade. They get compo without effort and they can tell a player his services are no longer required while allowing the player to save face and still keeping the rest of the list happy.

Don't know if Lynch will end up at Collingwood or how keen I am about it but it sure as hell won't mean anyone, particularly Wellingham, will be pushed out. Collingwood have been preparing for free agency for 2 years. The cuts have already been made.

No, I am just suggesting its nonsense that Lynch would find Carlton (or any club) of particular appeal just because a guy he used to play with is at that club

Yeh well, we all know its all about Collingwood, can have who they want...don't see them running around at G today

Boy they're super defensive

Carlton are hoping that CSI East Melbourne will provide the DNA proof to their young supporters to show they did once inhabit the MCG in September.

At the moment it's taking on the status of Homeric legend, wild and wooly tales of yore. Aiiii. Toot toot!

With Collingwood recently resigning Cloke I can't see the need for another forward who is on the same level as Dawes, unless Pies want him to ruck
Well you just Answered your won Question

If Lynch thinks he can just get drafted to another club, start training and then push out Dawes from the starting 22 within a week.........he probably will.

I am confused.

Collingwood resign Cloke on big dollars - Seems to have kept all their players except for Wellingham - Bring in Lynch - But couldn't afford to keep Leon Davis in 2012.
