See Morningside great in Kent Abey plays his 300th game for the club this weekend ,,,, what a achievement ,, has played in 4 premierships , and most likely has kicked at least 5OO goals. And still having a good season this yer at 36 years of age ...
Well done Kent

Ablett,
apparently the Cats coach has said he will playing this weekend against Surfers,,,,,,, but didnt say it will be on the seniors or ressies,,,,,Mcguane has only played one game of footy this season , thus who knows

Playing seniors this weekend in the fwd line- being flown up from Melbourne and paid - cats smell an opportunity to go for it. Good luck to them but hopefully not successful this weekend

An aflq legend. Superb effort.

Ablett ratings are plummeting for afl footy this year. Its about arresting that slide. Many quick to criticise womens footy for lack of scoring, well i wouldnt be rapping up the mens game in this area too much.

Record number of quarters without a goal this season....
afl are duty bound to do something.

Never seen this work overly well. He isnt a superstar like fev or even barry hall was. More disruptive than advantageous usually.

So Palmy just scrape home against the Magpies and same with Broady over Surfers. Dour struggle and very ordinary game at Surfers ... Mcguane had no influence at all, but in saying that, no other player had a influence..

No other player was flown 8n for the game either stuyd. Bit disappointing that the cats dont have enough faith in the guys who have currently got them to 2nd place.

SMY,
Appreciate your comment but not quite right ...... the issue is that everyone is aware if Palm Beach field a near full strength side come finals time it will be very difficult to defeat them ......... thus Broadys need to grab a bloke like Mcguane.

Yeah reckon this is short term thinking stuy. Look dont worry, not walking in BA shoes but like to think id turn the offer down IF he isnt training, being flown in. To be brutally honest, played one game this year, average AfL player at best compared to the guys who this possibly could be a situation for. Undestand the thinking stuy but it would be fantastic for the coach to stand up in front of the group and say “hey im backing this group in”. Very late in year for change tbh and who the hell knows what will happen with pbc.

Anyway just an opinion mate shared by a couple of others it seems..

SMY,
Good comments .... as far as im aware , this gaining of Mcguane has been in the pipeline for 3 months.... Coach BA and the heirachy consulted with the senior player group to suss out their thoughts and if they approve of,,,, apparently the answer was a overwhelming yes . Great communication here and Broady currently 2nd on the ladder in the seniors , and first in the ressies and colts.
Over the past 4 years its been a building of a club in all areas ,, seeking some success as its been 22 years since their last flag .
So give credit to all the people putting in all the hours to achieve .... and the players are fully educated on these goals .

On another topic ,,, Ive been looking at the lower comps and see there are some players kicking a lot of goals .
Firstly, Scholard from Maroocgydore,,,, has 71 up at 5.07 a game . With 4 games to go and then finals he should kick 100 .
Go down another division , and Ipswich player be it Zach Jahn is on 90 goals at 6.92 a game ,,,with 3 games left plus finals this guy might bag 120 plus.
In the same comp for Carrara is a guy by the name of Templar who is averaging 5.67 a game ....
What im getting at, is are these guys worth looking at by QAFL clubs .?

I’m hearing there is a cou to get rid of Palmy Coach Chad Owens before season ends

Well that’s a juicy rumour if there’s any truth to it. Just my view but I reckon they should remove the ringleader of the supposed coup rather than the coach...

Why on earth would anyone want to get rid of him, last time I looked they were premier last year and odds on again this year? And when you add the willingness to blood youngsters and the links with the school over the road and you would have to conclude he is doing a pretty good job.

On the mcguane thing all views expressed are valid. I agree that a ring in has potential to disrupt especially if the player in just chasing a few $$$.

What I’ll say with mcguane as it is a different situation given he is a junior and knows quite a few of the boys. He is absolutely invested and as stuy said discussions have been had for quite sometime and included the playing leadership.

It remains to be seen if it works ( he was very rusty yesterday). I remember Eddie sansbury last year was terrible in his first match but got better quickly and clearly made us more dangerous.

Mcguane played 70 more AFL games and is a couple years younger, so hopefully it works out.

Scholard is a good player stuyd and Jahn is an unknown quantity new up here this year, but he looks to have plenty of ability.

Templar not up to it at QAFL level, probably not even Div 1 standard. Very god Div 2/3 footballer though, knows where the goals are.

What a stupid post. As the other post said. Why would they remove a coach weeks out before finals?

He is doing a great job. Has used around 45 players in the seniors this year including a stack of young local boys.

Good one ablett

Not sure flying in an over weight plodder does them much good on or off field to be fair.

Don’t shoot the messenger but my inside mail is he isn’t respected but the core playing group and is carried by his coaching staff.
only kept his job cos they won the flag last season and wasnt liked then, a lot of crap being swept under the carpet but the stench is reaching the surface and getting stronger by the day.
If they get rolled at home by Broadbeach this week then the carpet may need steam cleaning!

Your right, you risk disrupting the team harmony and structures which takes a lot to build.
But he could kick a few bags in the finals and enhance the chance of a flag which are very hard to come by.

Ive heard exactly this also, and from players playing at Palmy? There is no respect by half the playing group.

Broadbeach on top in ressies and colts - 2nd in the seniors. Down at PBC this week big Match of the week!

Any idea who coaches their U18s there these days?

Yep - fair comments. Like you have said, if the playing group is in agreement.

Scholard spoek with Grange pre season and decided to stop at Maroochy being an ex Roo (and Caloundra junior too) prior to leaving coast.. Financial advisor/broker so felt his work would benefit from being local. I think he would definitely cut it at QAFL level, as would probably 40 blokes across the comp fairly easily but the question is always being committed.
I've always said that the AFL is full of blokes who are the best of those that committed themselves 100%, not the best players.

I've always said that the AFL is full of blokes who are the best of those that committed themselves 100%, not the best players.

thats the case for the elite level of many sports. I've seen plenty of blokes with all the talent in the world not make it past local level in a variety of sports due to their lack of commitment, while others less talented with unwavering commitment went all the way to the elite level.

then there are those of us with neither the talent nor the commitment.... :p
