Cats have signed Zorko for another season. Good move

Thoughts on this everyone

A good decision here ,,, must remember the Cats endured a mass exodus of good players from the 2018 grand final side so there was a huge task to combine a side with many new players ,,, at the start of the season I thought we would be battling to make the finals , so to be where we are is a credit to Zorko .... he is well liked and has us playing a exciting brand of footy . And on our day we are capable of winning the flag ..

Yep I think Sherwood will win and cause a few headaches in finals. Just coming good at right time. But Surfers were very good last week so not sure they will win by big margin.

I think Surfers will win this game ,,, they are a very good side and a threat to all finals sides ,, big chance to win the flag if they handle the finals pressure

Agree Stuyd1 that Surfers are capable of a serious challenge but you dont build the trophy cabinet on should've and could've. I think they have to win this weekend against Magpies and take that position of home a Qualifying final against Morningside. If they lose this weekend its either an away Qualifying final up the road against Morningside, which is no pushover, or even slip to 4th and if they do that I just think its too hard to win the premiership from there. Whoever makes the top 5 will give it a shake but Palmy still in my mind start as clear favourites as any in recent history.

Fantastic commentary for sure - but everyone should take a deep breath!!
Lets see how PBC bounce back this week. I think we find out about both PBC and Broady in my opinion.
And also if our form is fickle - it will be close but if we are the real deal we should take care of Maggies and finish with home qualifier.

Well said Super. Keeping a lid on it and taking it one week at a time?

Hardly a surprise - he is a great coach and has done well considering the changes.

I would think either Zorko or Clint Watts for coach of year. Morningside also had huge loss of experience at end of last season and Doggie has also done a great job with a lot of kids as well.

You would think both coaches will continue in 2020.

What defines a great coach?
Has he coached a premiership?
What’s the highest standard he’s coached?
Think your throwing the term ‘great’ around too easily.

Just like the AFL commentators labelling every player a ‘superstar’.

Agree the word superstar or great is used too quickly at times, but I’ve no doubt Zorko has done a great job this year.

As for coach of the year, several could have legitimate claims for that. Moore has done very very well with the D’s as well as Zorko and doggy watts.

And Sinclair has only lost one game in charge albeit with talent to burn down there.

We are fortunate as a comp to have some very good coaching overall, the structures and organisation you notice as a spectator are pretty strong imo when you consider the overall standard of footy.

Looking forward to Saturday

gee whiz Ablett - settle down. He didn't say he was "the greatest coach he's ever seen", or "one of the greats" - just a recommendation of the bloke. Who it looks like has done a "great job" with the list he started with. Pheww

And at the other end of the ladder Marsh has probably done a pretty good job with the cattle he has at disposal too. Agree that there seems to be some really good coaches in QAFL right now which is fantastic for the comp and obviously the players.

Never said he wasn’t a good coach nor done a good job, just felt ‘great’ was an overstatement.
If Zorko is a great coach then what class of coach is Chad Owens after achieving Back2back premierships?
Very lucky I’d say!

Wouldn't disagree with the first part Fan but think there are coaches that can take guys who were average junior performers, and with the capacity to find them a role and instil self belief and obviously have a degree of improvement, turn them into serviceable players that will play 100+ games. To me that is a pretty good coach.

You still at the pirates mate? Seem to be more QAFL focussed lately!

No mate still at Pirates. Big focus there next year to get Colts up and going and 2 Senior Teams back to Saturday Footy mate.

But obviously the Friday Night Footy has allowed me time to watch the young fella at Morningside.

When your lad is killing it at QAFL level LZ then the focus moves... :)

Friday night footy - you have the weekend to watch the boy play SM!!!

Yes SMY very happy with the way him and team going. Think it just goes to show these kids at lower levels can cut the mustard if they firstly take the step and work hard and have a coaching staff that give them a chance.

And I think that's the order that it should be too - 1. work hard 2. get your chance. Unfortunately some young kids see it the other way round....

I think there is also the fact that the Panthers have traditionally relied on local blokes rather than bring people in through $$ which is an environment that is more conducive to promoting kids. When you recruit guys on $$ there is often an obligation to play them ahead of the local junior to justify your decision.
