Why not Brighton Homes the Lions Training base for GF. Surely best surface available in Brisbane outside Gabba?
I’ve always thought this as well. I get Springfield isn’t exactly the most central location but facilities are surely about as good as you’ll possibly get. Train line right next to it, they play it for the QAFLW who always seem to treated to the top echelons by AFLQ surely you can play the premier comp in QLD’s GF there too.

Agree with you here and the supporter that luvs his QAFL footy will travel there but I dont think the others would so the crowd may be well down on the normal.

The political direction that the woke AFL is certainly a part of, would suggest they SHOULD use Springfield, if only for the tens of (hundreds?) of millions of dollars spent building the 'carbon saving' public transport systems tailored to the venue. However, the woke institutional hypocrisy we so often witness, suggests we'll drive hundreds of cars congesting roads, and burning carbon on our way to the QAFLs Blue Ribbon event, 'slumming' it at some worn out or lesser venue, and 'destroying the planet'...

Given that the Lions AFLW team play Collingwood on the Friday night before the QAFL grand final, and that it's likely that the Lions VFL team would be a chance to host a final the same weekend, I'd say that Springfield is highly unlikely.

Thanks Switchtheplay10, Got that sorted in one post..

Sounds like it will be Coorparoo. Kick a bit more loot into the kitty in preparation for their entry into the QAFL?

Im happy to slum it, and burn carbon!

Round 13 Results

The Matter that’s Stuff

In a week when the results gave no respect to your tipping (and mine too, of course), here are some more QAFL Scorigami references for Round 13, plus other potentially useless scraps of local trivia:

Broadbeach 10-16-76 d Noosa 6-7-43
Played 4: Broadbeach 4 – Noosa 0 (QAFL 2021-2024)
This score has never occurred before.
The margin of 33 points has now occurred 122 times.
Broadbeach maintain their undefeated record against Noosa.

Surfers Paradise 10-14-74 d Palm Beach Currumbin 8-7-55
Played 29: Surfers Paradise 7 – Palm Beach 22 (QAFL 2011-2024)
Overall 55: Surfers Paradise 14 – Palm Beach 41 (1998-2001, 2005-2024)
This score has four times previously:
1942 R3: Western Districts 10-14-74 d Kedron 7-13-55 at The Domain
1961 R18: Sandgate 10-14-74 d Wilston Grange 8-7-55
1962 R7: Windsor 10-14-74 d Sandgate 6-19-55
2018 R3: Broadbeach 10-14-74 d Surfers Paradise 7-13-55 at Merrimac
The margin of 19 points has now occurred 121 times.
The record above only covers results since 1998. Contests between the two clubs go much further back (circa 1963).
The Demons’ tenth goal brought up their 300th goal against Palm Beach in the QAFL competition.

Maroochydore 9-13-67 d Aspley 8-6-54
Played 5: Maroochydore 1 – Aspley 4 (2022-2024)
Overall 24: Maroochydore 13 – Aspley 11 (1993-1997, 2005-2008, 2022-2024)
This score has occurred three times previously:
1947 PF: Kedron 9-13-67 d Mayne 6-18-54 at Windsor Park
2022 PF: Aspley 10-7-67 d Redland-Victoria Point 8-6-54 at Chelmer
2023 R18: Maroochydore 9-13-67 d Palm Beach 7-12-54
The margin of 13 points has now occurred 122 times.

Labrador 17-8-110 d Morningside 1-8-14
Played 60: Labrador 19 – Morningside 41 (1997-2024)
Not a big shock: This score has never occurred before.
The margin of 96 points has now occurred 19 times.
Possibly the most discussed game of the weekend. This is Morningside’s lowest score since Round 3 1960 when they managed 1-4-10 against Wilston Grange 16-9-105.

Wilston Grange 24-15-159 d Mt Gravatt 8-2-50
Played 19: Wilston Grange 9 – Draw 2 - Mt Gravatt 8 (2014-2024)
This score has never occurred before.
The margin of 109 points has now occurred 17 times.
The Gorillas take the lead in the Win/Loss record, and now only trail by 47 in the cumulative score.

Sherwood 9-15-69 d Redland Victoria Point 9-12-66
Played 18: Sherwood 2 – Draw 1 – Redland 15 (2001–2004, 2009–2010, 2021–2024)
This score has occurred twice previously:
1970 R14: Mayne 10-9-69 d Kedron 8-18-66
2012 SF1: Southport 10-9-69 d Redland 9-12-66 at Fankhauser Reserve
The margin of 3 points has now occurred 110 times.

On the last game, I raised a smile when I saw that Paul Grentell acknowledged this game as the 8,500th QAFL fixture – so Paul, if you’re reading this, thanks for that!

Is that a political or football statement??

Is that a suggestion that Hickey Park is the stand out venue in QAFL?

I’m biased but I think the Cats have the best set up in the league. Cars on the hill all the way around, plenty of parking, club with balcony on centre wing, coach and media boxes, and good sized ground and playing surface.

Hickey park is the best in Brisbane IMO, I also quite enjoy Noosa and Surfers not too bad either
