To Coolangatta's credit they never stopped trying. And a good number of the players came into the bar for a beer after the game, which was great.

They always have. Back when the 2 clubs were both flag contenders they always came in for a beer

Been busy boys. Must pay a huge compliment to the ressies umpire at Kedron last week. I think it was Bucky. He was one of the fairest umpires I have seen in reserves since we have been playing. We still got beat but he paid the same free kicks to both sides which normally doesn't happen every week with club umpires.

And the senior boys were the best we have had this year as well. Didn't even have to raise my vocals.

And it wasn't even umpires appreciation round.

Have to agree on kedron's ressies umpire.
Was great to play a game of footy where nobody questioned umpires calls.

Heard from someone that an umpire was manhandled in one of the Aspley/Cooly games. Haven't seen any comments, so wondering if he made this up? Any truth to this?

If I go back a few decades I reckon all you wanted to do was knock my head off and give a bit of lip to the umpires mate.
So I'll take that as we have both mellowed over time.
Who would have thought you giving umpires a wrap and me actually umpiring.
But have to be honest umpiring isn't really a difficult job.
You see a free kick you pay it.

Buck I would never try and take any players head off mate, mistaken identity.

I Know what you mean I was reported a few times.
I swear everyone was an accident or someone else.
Umpired with up at burpengary today.
Their club umprie seems like a fair bloke as well.
Haven't been yelled at yet but I'm sure it's coming.

Worst we have had since been in the competition which is saying something.

In fairness Cooly were simply to good. Got them on a bad week with QAFL bye it would seem. As no way they played like a team that was beaten by over 200 points last week.

But the umpiring was terribly inconsistent. Even sat next to an old fella from Cooly who was confused with the inconsistency of the boys in lime. I stopped counting when the difference got past 60.

But no matter how much you complain nothing changes. So you just have to pay your competition fees and put up with it and move on.

Ours is so worried about not being biased, he overcompensates. Has copped some sprays from our blokes

How many QAFL blokes were they running around with? Astounds me that any club would let their good players have a kick when they have a week off, but old Matty Walder would have a few contacts I guess!

Having said that, if 2 ring ins can create a 10 goal victory against the Park Ridge all-stars - something is seriously wrong.

According to sportingpulse though, those were the only 2 'ring ins' and Stubbs is a fringe senior player at Mounties - hardly a game changer

Well I given a few spray's to umpires over time.
So when mine comes I'll have to cop it and call it even.
I just don't get why some umpires feel they need to exert thier authority on the game.
A lot of times in this level you could pay a fee kick but you just know that the advantage is greater than stopping the game.
Some bloke's don't get that untill their mate is running away with the pill.
I enjoy the banter with the lads out there and simply call it the way I see it.
I have umpired with some bloke's that I'm positive don't understand how the game is played.
This is when it becomes confusing for the players and I really do understand that.
It's about everyone enjoying thier footy for a couple of hours on a Saturday.
That includes me as an umpire as well.

Agree totally with the memo think there should be a limit on permits especially if they playing in seniors.

Not sure what it does for your club to win one game by doing it in the long run anyway.

Cooly were just to good. They did run Robina to a goal at home earlier this year so maybe the travel is issue as they were very solid and moved the ball very crisply.

What about Aspley vs Robina result? What was the go Plugger?

Everyone bagged us early in the year getting spanked by Aspley at home but I don't think anyone has got close to them at home?

Cooly only had 2 permit players one was one of their Juniors .They also had two transfer players from SA and they have gone back already .
They needed the win to stay in the race from relegation one would think

Good point it's the first time relegation has been in place.

Not much you can do about temp interstate clearances pre June 30.

However, given the memo we all got last week, Stubbs playing (former junior or not) really did need permission from the competition manager. ( which they may have got, none of us would know)

If you were going to stack to I'd say round 16 is the one you would do it in.
Might just sort out who goes down.
