Northshore beat Marcellin by 21 goals
Just local blokes that have played slightly better footy than Div 4 - no one out of QAFL but a few div 3 players from Maroochy, a div 1 fella and a couple of Hinterland blokes. Kept a few of their better ones from last year. Miocek is miles too good for the level - prob QAFL standard but I hate saying that till blokes play it but he does have good DNA.

Friday's result certainly suggests they have collated a good group together.

Might argue too good... :)
Friday's result supports that statement. Clearly a very good side. Remember its a long season this year.

The North/South split may have assisted remove some competition as well. Hard to compare year to year, week to week but South teams Collingwood Park, Coorparoo, Mt Gravatt, & Pac Pines all finished ahead last year. Plus Labrador and Redlands-VP have now entered solid teams.

Malceski apparently kicked 12 on Friday night. Imagine rocking up Friday night for a friendly game and you have to line up on Malceski or Mihocek?😀

Well it’s not his Collingwood brother so that helps but yeah playing on Nick M in div 4 would be a steep learning curve!

Yes it appears that the split has certainly made the north comp diluted but much better for the players logistically.

Makes you wonder if the automatic div 4 status of any new team needs a re-think?

Blind Freddie could have told you Labrador would be strong right out of the gate.

It's a huge jump to div 3, but think that gap is closing.

Didn't Maroochydore go straight into the higher div only a few years back?

Granted the team already existed and just won a flag in a different comp, but I guess that makes them the exception that proves the rule

Appreciate only practise match but Maroochy 3rds played Jets earlier in year. I know Jets were not at full strength, Roos a little short too, but it was a 3 goal game which suggests that Jets could have competed well in Div 3 this year. The issue of course is that many of these Fri night sides are full of blokes who play there for that exact reason (Jets full of real estate agents) - going to a Saturday club might seem like the natural progression but you will no doubt lose alot of your strength and not bc you have gone up a division.
Its a tough one with no real answer.

don't think there were 2 divisions when they came in? Friday footy was all lumped together until 2019

Looking back on this thread it was a couple of years earlier than that, there were 2 at the time. For whatever reason Aspley were put in the lower div and Maroochy in the higher one, and both played grand finals that year (think they were 4 and 5 at that stage)

What’s your tips for this week?

North
Ferny - 12 points
Aspley - 8 points
Kedron - 100 points
North shore by 125

South
Redland
Mt Gravatt
Coorparoo
Labrador

Ferny by 12 - spot on

12 points yes, not Ferny though

Looks like Glasshouse were a lot closer than expected. Is this because Kedron dropped off or improvements from Glasshouse.

Labrador went down in the South comp and Coorparoo again won comfortably. Can anyone beat them?
