If you look at the fences in the background, they are completely gone in the 2nd photo. So if it's not under then it would be pretty damn close. And that would've been before that family had left, so it would've gotten alot higher than that.

Both posted a few hours ago...

I had assumed that was your place Oz! Also, that debris behind the tyre may be getting caught on the top of the fence. Still amazing. The amount of water that's been through this last 6 weeks is extraordinary. I've even seen the park I spent many a childhood hour in up in Wodonga completely submerged - twice. Sidenote, I'm looking at picking up the same camera as you have, looks a goer! :thumbsu:

most insurance companies wont cover flood...stuff like a burst water pipe in normal times but not a major flood like this..and if they did it would cost an absolute fortune.

I have the most sincere doubts that you are going to see a Crocodile in a Brisbane park. If that photo was true, there would be media broadcasting it, or at least a video of some variety.

This is crazy, and it's only going to get worse.

saw that photo and thought bullshit straight away, some of the news services are sensationalising this tragedy under the guise of "we don't really have confirmed reports but who knows"
yesterday, channel 9 reported that some schools (NOT childcare) had been blocked off with teachers looking after kids who haven't seen their parents in 10 hours, "must be terrifying for the parents not knowing if their kids are ok"

something didn't smell right and it took me about 5 minutes to realise that we are now in the middle of school holidays?
ffs, this flood is tragic enough without some of these turds making up complete and utter rubbish

Some photos from this tragic event that say so much.....

Just saw this one on facebook

ATTENTION BRISBANE RESIDENTS: Storage king has just put out an offer for those who live in Brisbane affected by floods for free storage, they have trucks and trailers available to help evacuate just call 1800storage. Paste this on your page let's get the word around guys

Can someone tell me what will happen with insurance in all this, surely they would all pay out? even without flood damage?

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here, but insurance companies aren't gonna give flood cover to someone who lives in a flood plain (can't say I disagree with them).
The councils are to blame here, they allow houses to be built in flood plains which is just ridiculous.

Insurance companies will have to pay if people have flood damage in their cover. If not then it's the homeowners fault, they must've known it was an area known for floods so it's their fault for gambling.

Most ( Not all ) insurance companies will offer flood cover even if you live in a flood plain but your premium will be sky high every year making people think twice about taking it up etc.

Flood plains, fair enough, just like I dont care about people in bushfires (well I care, but you know the risks living in a forest.)

Wouldnt it be some good PR if they did pay out though?

Saw this on Facebook, not sure of the validity though.

Withcott has just run out of drinking water. Laidley, Gatton, Helidon and surrounding suburbs are soon to run out as well! Ironically, we need to conserve our drinking water. Also, please remember to boil your water for a minimum of 5 minutes, if you live in the South-east Queensland suburbs.

My thoughts are with everybody that is affected, that story about the 13 year old boy just broke my heart. I'm in NZ at the moment, but we're getting constant coverage and it's just terrible to hear what people are going through.

I have quite a few aunties, uncles and cousins up in Queensland, but only one cousin has had to evacuate. She moved in with her sister last night so the most important thing is that she's safe, but she's had such a shocking past few months - married in October, found out that her husband had a couple of girlfriends and that one was pregnant a month later, just moved into this house in Ipswich that is expected to be ruined. Just glad that she's gotten out well and truly in time, the stories of those that have died are horrific. It's difficult to say things that don't sound like understatements and I hope I'm not coming across as being disrespectful, but I hope that everybody is keeping safe.

There's many different types of flooding that's happening in Queensland.

Toowoomba is built on top of a mountain. It's as far from a flood plane as you can get.

Most of the impact from this flood won't be damaged houses either. Brisbane's infrastructure is failing. Industry has come to a complete standstill. We have a client who owes us thousands who is currently underwater. People miles from the floodwater are considering leaving town because of the long term effects.

Even simple issues like rubbish collection will be on hold for weeks. In this climate that threatens all sorts of problems. Places like Ipswich could be cut off from Brisbane even when the flood waters drop. The flood damage at Goodna alone threatens major disruption for weeks or months (they only just completed that part of the upgrade too). There's sections of that road currently under construction as part of the upgrade that have been badly damaged.

Worst of all, we haven't even entered the wettest part of the year. Late Jan though March is when SEQ experiences it's most significant rainfall annually. What we saw in Toowoomba is likely to happen elsewhere when storm cells inevitably hit.

This is a disaster on a scale that's effecting people far beyond 'flood planes'.
