Re: How good is this rain?!

Watching the news is genuinely upsetting now. This is ****ed.

Yeah you sometimes forget how much you love/feel connected to your city until something like this happens.

I'm getting quite emotional about it all.

Re: How good is this rain?!

This is horrible. We have sent all our staff home (those who turned up anyway) - we employ people with disabilities and there were some very anxious people here today. thankfully I don't think either my home or workplace is in flooding danger but some of our employees may not be so lucky.

Those poor people in Toowoomba and Lockyer valley - it is unbelievable. thank god for Wivenhoe.

Yes. Very hard to see this.

I'm thousands of k's away but I'm frightened for my friends and family up there.

Recent qld police update on fb:

Queensland Police Service Caboolture is isolated, so evacuation out of town by car is impossible. Those in low lying areas who can do so should move to higher ground, or prepare for rising water.

Re: How good is this rain?!

I was living in London during the July 2005 bombings. I'm getting the same emotional vibe now... A combination of uncertainty, solidarity with fellow citizens, along with the overwhelming urge to try and do something to help tempered by the futility of knowing you can't.

Re: How good is this rain?!

Have left a post on the mods board for Weevil/POBT/Grim to merge this stuff into a new thread.

May as well keep posting here in the meantime.

This footage of the Brisbane river bursting its banks is heartbreaking.

Re: How good is this rain?!

Two barges have broken their moorings at Jindalee and are floating east down the river.

All public transport in Brisbane will be stopped within the next hour.

If you are still in the city, get out now or prepare to spend the night in your office.

Re: How good is this rain?!

Banks have burst at the inner CBD.

Also at Auchenflower. Coronation Drive will go under any moment.

River isn't even going to peak until late Wednesda/Early Thursday.

We're definitely in 1974 territory now.

****! I'm in Auchenflower :(

I remember massive storms here in Brisbane back in the late 80's as a kid (apparantly a tornado or two spawned from them) but this is has to be the biggest disaster I've seen in my 25 years of being raised here

watching the coverage on the Nine Network.

Just saw my Mums joint in Toowong on TV. Was there today helping prepare for when the waters hit her basements

I can relate to that emotional vibe you speak of.

Similar to black saturday, I just can't shake this awful feeling that the full extent of this is still unknown, oh please be safe everyone.

Re: How good is this rain?!

My workplace closed down early, and I have arrived home safe. However, now I have to wait to see if my OH can make it - at this point most of his routes are under. One of his workmates has a daughter who is "unaccounted for" - that really brings it home :(
