Over 5.4 metres they're predicting. Don't **** around people, if you haven't prepped and come up with an escape plan, do so now.

Yes, Yes, YES!!! Get out while you can.

I must stress, it is all sorts of ugly up here, and it is all heading down towards you. Do not underestimate this weather, nor the water that has come with it.

You and Kapow stay safe...Keep his purple wig dry

It might 'accidentally' end up as some of the debris floating down the river in a weeks time. :p

We're right here, sitting on top of a hill, with a great view of what's coming from out the front, and what it's doing out the back.

Some more nasty stuff is about to hit us, and carry on to the Dam's.

We need a smiley with an umbrella!

On a Lions related note...

Floods force Brisbane Lions out

THE Brisbane Lions have closed their Gabba office and send players and staff home in response to the threat of flash flooding in Brisbane.

The Lions have informed the AFL that the club’s staff and players have been sent home and the offices will remain closed until further notice.

Residents have fled their homes as floodwaters threaten Brisbane suburbs.

The league's general manager of football operations Adrian Anderson said the AFL would work with the Lions in finding alternative training venues when the floodwaters subsided.

Up the North side of Brissy here, i've lived in the Strathpine area my whole life, and have never seen the bridge over the pine river at Lawnton go under. Lucky the area in general around us is pretty safe, up kinda high and no huge rivers or creeks near by. Lots of roads cut off. We closed our fuel station at Brendale to let staff get home, 1 of them has however been caught out and is unable to get home due to closed roads.

Good luck to those in around the effected areas. Stay safe and take care.

THE five floodgates at Wivenhoe Dam have been opened even wider to increase flows into the Brisbane River by 50 per cent - a risky move likely to worsen flooding in in the city.

A Seqwater source said the floodgates were opened to release 516,000 ML (mega litres) a day, up from 344,000 ML.

Water Minister Stephen Robertson was told the volume of water released was the equivalent of 6000 swimming pools of water a second, up from 4000 in the morning.

A Seqwater spokeswoman said the move was a gamble. Asked if the additional water would exacerbate flooding in low-lying suburbs she said: ``It's hard to say.

``But if we don't do it now there will be more chance of worse flooding later. We want to control the release. We don't want it spilling over the top of the dam

I'm up in Rockhampton and it's slowly starting to go back down here. I hope you guys are able to make it through with as little damage to life and property and inconvenience as possible. It's ironic that only three weeks ago Ms. Gillard was celebrating the end of the drought in her Christmas speech. Best of luck over the coming days of uncertainty.

Drove back to New Farm from UQ at around 3pm and water was just lapping on the bike track on Coronation Drive. When I got to the city it was like a ghost town. Just went to the cliff in New Farm over looking the Story Bridge during a break in the rain and the river is just over the bike path around Eagle Pier and is almost breaking into the old wharves. A big worry is the floating pontton which could take off if the river rises another 3 m!

our thoughts down here in tassie are with all our qld lions and families ! we hope you are all safe and dry. this is a time for all australians to lend a hand

good luck folks

Not sure if any of you saw the footage of a young famly in a white vehicle that was engulfed in water, but I saw footage of them around midday in the vehicle and then later footage of them a top the vehicle roof clinging to the side rails waiting to be rescued. Unfortuately the news just mentioned that there is no sight of the car and re-showed the footage of them a top the vehicle again, but this time with their faces blurred. I pray that they are alive and safe, although unlikely.:(

I recently moved from Brisbane (Kangaroo Point) back to Melbourne and feel really saddened by the events unfolding before us. My heart goes out to each and everyone of you up there. I have a lot of friends and collegues up there and can't believe that inner city Brisbane will likely be devastated effected. Stay safe and my thoughts are with all of you up there.

Take care, D12
