Every time a new thread mark gets added to the thread I'm following, it becomes impossible for me to get that thread as marked read, no matter how many times I open it. Is there a way to manually mark a thread as read or something like that? I can't think of how else to fix this problem. Having a thread I can't mark as read is annoying.
Likely to be a sticky post, not a thread mark. The work around is for someone to post in the thread after it (or mark all as read).

Is there a way that commenting even the most banal thing to stop seeing the sticky every time can be fixed?

Doing it manually every single time is a pain.

How do I do that in one hit?
For any one particular board, use the button at the top of that board;

To mark the entirety of BigFooty as read, use the one on the navigation:

That would of course mark all of your watched threads as read as well though, which may have unintended consequences if you're watching threads that you no longer care about.

Yeah neither of those are what I was thinking about.

Can you give us a link to an example? Where are you seeing the thread listed?

Sticky?

I think you might be watching every thread you interact with. That's a setting in your preferences.

The 'rate my preseason team' thread on the Supercoach board was the one from today, one of the mods today posted a stickied post (I think Lore was correct about me using the wrong terminology). When somebody does that, the thread stays marked as unread no matter how many times I open it.

The only way to fix this problem seems to be for somebody else to post something on the thread, then it goes away. But until then, when the stickied post is the most recent post, I can't get it to go off unread no matter how many times I read it. This has happened to me with other threads with stickied posts as well.

You might try dumping your BigFooty cookies and seeing if that has any effect. I'm trying to recall the last time this was reported.

It's been a problem since the sticky posts add-on came in, when we looked into it there wasn't anything you could do so it is what it is. Most of the posters on the boards I moderate are aware of it though and know what to do, and when I sticky posts I usually make a point of posting in the thread directly afterwards which helps I think.

Also it's better if the sticky post is something that gets edited (like the OP) rather than stickying a new post each time, not only because of this issue but also because the sticky is tied to the post number and if a post before it gets deleted then the post numbers change and the wrong post ends up stuck.

It's never been an issue for me so I don't know how to fix it.

But also, the tipping system has a quirk in that you have to manually click Mark Read on alerts. Is that what happens here?
Nah, different sort of glitch.

You go to the watched threads or the thread list on the relevant board and the thread is unread.

You open the thread. You go back to the watched threads or the thread list on the relevant board.

The thread is still unread.

No matter how many times you repeat the process, it will still be unread, until someone posts in the thread after the sticky post.

Having the same issue with, see screenshots below

The pre Australian summer of tennis thread

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the linking of a new thread inside the original

Does Bigfooty support any other type of spreadsheet embedding apart from Google Sheets?

I want to move away from Google completely and not sure what other Sheets-like programs are out there, or better, what other spreadsheet embedding Bigfooty allows for that would point me to that alternative program to use.

Ideally...
Free cloud-based service (say 500gb storage) ... can sync between PC and mobile, and that can thus be coded to embed into Bigfooty.
Offers robust spreadsheet creation built-in.
Isn't run by a large corporation that tracks your data and compromises your security.

Not that I know of but look around and suggest any you find.

Hi guys - didn't want to clog the board with a new thread.

Can I please have the post contained in the attached thread deleted? It contains a full copy-paste of an article from my site which was restricted to members. I believe you don't allow that? Also, bit of a crappy thing to do to post it, anyway.

Cheers

You can self delete your own posts. At the end of message click on 3 dots. Edit function and delete function should show up
