It's a scenario that happens all the time though.

Woodcock should've been delisted after McEntee was, a few years back, but he was the one out of contract.

There's no way Atkins and McEntee are delisted under contract, so whilst Narkle might go, Evans will probably also go.
We could delist McEntee despite being contracted for another year. We delisted Pasini, despite being contracted because we knew he was surplus with the recruitment of BZK and Ratugolea. McEntee was not preferred to Narkle and Francis Evans for most of the last 10 weeks of the year. I agree that Evans will probably go and that we'll probably delist Narkle before considering delisting McEntee but there is still some chance Narke is saved and McEntee goes.

Of course you can, and we've done it more than once, but without knowing the internal workings of the salary cap position we don't know if it is possible. As such it remains highly unlikely. If you delist a contracted player you have to pay them, plus a new draftee under the cap. It challenges the cap position, plus is effectively wasted money on a player.

Usually you'd delist a player under contract and reabsorb them on the rookie list to open draft spots, but ensure you don't waste that money you've already committed to the player.

It definitely feels like a contracted player might be in danger this year though. Going to this draft with only 4 spots, across both main draft and rookie draft, seems a strange call. But as far as we're aware there are only 4 players uncontracted. Guess that's why we're all so keen to hear what the delistings will be.

I feel like CD referred to 4 picks as non -NGA and F/S picks

Freo supporter here.I was just wondering if any Port supporters had any thoughts on the recently delisted Quinton Narkle. It looks like Freo will be picking him up as an SSP signing. He looks way fitter from what Ive seen and he still seems to have good skills.

Should dominate in your WAFL side and be a decent sub option.

The McEntee 2 year extension was considerably dumber from my perspective.
I can only surmise that there has to be more to the McEntee contract extension than appears on the surface. Is McEntee dating one of Hinkley's daughters or something similar? Don't feel isolated as the decision appears stupendously dumb to the majority of us.

I'm sorry to lose him. He's one of these players caught between too good for the level below AFL, maybe not good enough to just play in the middle at AFL so he gets subbed, shoved in a forward pocket etc and doesn't get as good a run at it as he could. He kicked a real clutch goal in a tight game against Melbourne this year so stood up in pressure. I hope he gets picked up and does well
