Away home games shouldn't count.

Also what is the 50 km difference between Pies and Blues/Bombers? Is that the difference between the SCG and Skoda or something?

or SCG / Skoda / ANZ Stadium. Pretty sure Collingwood always play Sydney at ANZ rather than SCG?

Despite having won the 5th most games of the season, Richmond are not considered a 'top-6' side in the eyes of the fixture. Because of this, they have been given a comparatively easy draw in the new fixture system. This is explained by the loss to Carlton in the finals which now seems like a blessing in disguise.

Losing elimination finals are the new tanking. Even if you the final you lose, it's near on impossible to win the next 3 games with likely travel and prelim final team coming off a break. Will require the fixture top 6 method or the finals set up to change.

I brought this up on the freo board but thought it would be interesting to see if any teams experience similar.

One thing as a freo fan that we expect when the fixtures cone out is that we have to travel to Sydney to play the swans and surprise, surprise next season is no exception. So the updated stats after next year will be that since 2001 in the 17 games we have played the Swans in the home and away season 13 have been in Sydney while only 4 in Perth. Also in that time for 11 of those seasons we have been scheduled to play them once in the year and 10 of those games have been at the SCG.

Obviously this means Sydney always have to play the eagles in Perth as they are required to travel west once a season but it would be nice for the AFL to mix it up as we still won't have plagued at Skoda Stadium in three years.

Wow, that explains it, hadn't thought of that. Was wondering why the Eagles never travel to play the Swans anymore. This WA/NSW thing between the 4 clubs needs to be mixed up a lot more, agreed.

17 of the last 19 seasons we've played Brisbane at the Gabba.

I think we played them in Rnd1 for about 3 years in a row too (2008-10).

Historically, the West Coast-Brisbane (Bears/Lions) H2H has been very interesting statistically. Lots of winning streaks, surprising away wins, draw curiosities and the like.

Sydney not coming over to WA to play Freo sucks

I don't mind that the AFL sends Sydney/GWS over to WA once each - and West Coast and ourselves over to Sydney once each (mostly) - but at least mix it up a bit

We still haven't - and won't next season - travel to Skoda. Likewise the Eagles haven't played at the SCG anywhere near as often as us H&A over the past 5-6 seasons

Hey, for some reason we keep having to play carlton and Essendon at Etihad, whilst all teams play Melbourne at the MCG when 3 men a dog turn up.

I might be wrong, but I don't think we have played Brisse in Brissie for a few years. Always seem to have to play Adelaide in Adelaide too. Strange
Hey wait a minute, when was the last time that actually happened

You could make the same case for Essendon as well. Getting boned by the AFL had some benefits....

That's mainly because you've been so shit that the only way the AFL has been able to hand you wins is by playing you off against GC and GWS at home

Geelong seem to get the advantage of playing all interstate sides at Geelong yet all Victorian sides are at Etihad or the MCG. I think that's highly unfair both for Geelong and the interstate sides. It gives sides like Collingwood, Hawthorn and Essendon a massive leg up in not having to travel to Geelong. I couldn't care less if Collingwood and Co were sent down to Geelong as well as the shit Victorian sides. bit of a coincidence isn't it.

Haven't played West Coast at Etihad since 2010, with our last home game (1 of the past 6) being in Hobart.

Oh, and we play Adelaide at Adelaide Oval for the first time in our history. o_O

First time in Adelaides history as well. lol

having only one friday night game sucks. essendon get seven friday night games:(

Play better football then and the last time I looked you get the game on FTA whatever time you are playing. The Friday night schedule rewards teams from the previous season, and probably rightly so.

I hear last year went real well for you guise.

We came 7th # (would have been 7th without the suspension), so it went better than your side. It rewards good sides and sides that rate.
