Terrible news to wake up to. When I got up first thing I saw was notification of a tweet from Shane about Rod Marsh's death, which I thought was a nice tweet. Next thing i saw was a tweet about Shane's death- my first thought it was some sort of mix-up, but no sadly.

I was actually just thinking a couple of days ago if Shane might be the most famous or recognisable Australian within Australia- maybe showing my sports bubble existence, but he is certainly up there.

Saw him walking through the stands at the Adelaide test this summer, seemed to be in a bit of a rush to get to his commentary spot, but still stopped for everyone who wanted a photo with him and was really friendly with them.

I can’t believe i have woken up to this news. RIP Warnie. An absolute superstar and icon of cricket.

Can't say he didn't live
Too true, Shane Warne was the perfect example of a person who lived the mantra 'Carpe diem' (seize the day).

Only the truly elite change the parameters of their profession and in Warne's case the very fabric of the game itself. Shane Warne was an artist within his profession who inspired the cricketing public to admire the art that is leg spin bowling. Whilst a generation has tried to emulate Warne's art form of leg spin bowling, to date no one has come close to replicating his brilliance.

A flawed genius yes, it only added to the intrigue of his unique ability and personality. What impact one leaves on this world will be measured by those that speak about us. Whilst the first emotion towards Warne 'moving on' is one of shock, the overwhelming feeling of those that have offered their condolences is that of a heartfelt loss.
From his cricketing peers, his friends outside of his sporting circle and to those that have had the ability to meet him it appears that Warne had the ability to forge close bonds and friendships to many for which he'll be sorely missed.

Saw the news on a friends phone and thought he had been hacked. Unfortunately not. Rest in Peace legend, you brought so much enjoyment to all cricket fans world wide.

Can’t believe I had to clean this thread up already…what is wrong with some people.
No one knows the details yet so keep your speculation to yourselves.

RIP Warnie, way too young to die ☹️

Whenever I think of Warne, I always think of this one delivery that defines him as the best.

RIP
