I don’t hate Nathan Schmook’s changes on the AFL site.

Frampton (does mention Borlase in the paragraph but gives the nod to Billy) Walker and Cook in.

Butts (inj) Milera and Crouch out.

No mention of Brown assuming the article was done before the HSP confirmation so will just put Jones for Brown.

Would leave something like:
B: Jones Frampton Doedee
HB: Smith Murray Hamill
C: Soligo Keays Dawson
HF: Rowe Walker Murphy
F: Tilthorpe Fogarty McAdam
R: ROB Hately Laird
Int: Berry Hinge McHenry Cook
Sub: ? Whoever fits the bill. Maybe Milera but is he better off getting a full SANFL game instead of potentially 10 minutes at the end.

I watched the West Coast game last week and it is difficult to explain why they are playing so poorly. Yes, they have a lot of talent on the injury list but they still have an older and more experienced than the Crows. Last week they had 9 of their 2018 premiership team playing plus Gaff, Witherden, SPP and Kelly.

This week they will probably add Hurn. This is a lot more experience and talent than our 8-10 fifty plus game players.

If they refused to fire a shot on their home deck in front of their adoring fans against the Bulldogs then it’s hard to see them grinding out a win on a cold, wet Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

As bad as they are playing this season they often love playing at Adelaide Oval, their record is 9-3 (but have been outscored by 3 points as the 3 losses were all heavy defeats). We cannot underestimate them and need to show up this weekend, no excuses.

Just give McAsey a run of matches. What do we have to lose? We spent the draft value on him, see if he has something at afl level.

If not, oh well trade and move on.

But leaving him to languish in the SANFL without giving him a decent shot is negligent.
I agree, Kennedy is the slowest of the big forwards give him a job to do this weekend, just say keep him to two goals or under don't worry about anything else.

We need to know if he can do it

Has been playing forward for the last month or so in SANFL so that would make no sense to me. Just setting him up to fail again

If Thilthorpe gets dropped for Walker we really need to start talking about replacing Nicks.
I like Nicks, I have backed him and don't have any thoughts that he shouldn't be in charge. BUT Jones out last week pissed me off & if Thilthorpe is out this week then I'm done. Sack him for all I care, clearly no idea if we are setting players up to fail constantly. Even Cook going out was a weird one, I thought he looked great so no idea why he was dropped and what they expect from a winger in the SANFL to get back up into the 1s

Pretty frustrating that when we’ve had a clear vacancy in our tall defender ranks, the tall defender we drafted with pick 6 three years ago is having a run up foward in the SANFL.

Bad drafting or bad development?

Na, Doedee's got a few more games in him yet before we wreck his hand so bad that he has a few weeks off, then refuse to do surgery until the middle of next year.
Before 'we' wreck his hands? Who's 'we'?

I'm guessing qualified surgeons and doctors actually make educated calls on these issues.

Assuming Butts, Brown & Doedee are outs and Rachele remains unavailable:

FB: Jones - McAsey - Worrell
HB: Milera - Murray - Hamill
C: Soligo - Keays - Dawson
HF: Rowe - Walker - McAdam
FF: Thilthorpe - Fogarty - Newchurch
FOLL: O'Brien - Hately - Berry
INT: Cook - Laird - Hinge - Pedlar
SUB: Davis

Ins:
  • McAsey (now or never...like for like with Butts)
  • Worrell (with Doedee out let's see what's he got)
  • Jones (should never have been dropped)
  • Walker (automatic inclusion)
  • Newchurch (we need speed up forward so let's see what he's got)
  • Cook (ditto for Jones)
  • Pedlar (gotta start getting games and midfield opportunities into him)
Outs:
  • Butts (inj.)
  • Doedee (inj.)
  • Brown (Covid)
  • Smith (omitted...needs a rocket)
  • Murphy (omitted...simply not up to the level and certainly not in the forward half where we play him)
  • McHenry (omitted...haven't seen any improvement this season at all in poise or damaging disposal)
  • Crouch (omitted...the game has passed him by; don't invest any more games in him)
The primary KPI for our mids this week (plus McAdam, Cook and Rowe) should be how many 15-30m passes do we as a group and you individually make which are marked inside 50 by Fogarty, Walker or Thilthorpe.

Serious danger game here.
We've lost our last 5 games to WC. We go in favourites to beat GWS and we're 10 goals down at half time.

Butts missing, Geelong scored 5 goals in a quarter and a bit once he went off.
I don't think we'll miss Brown too much, IMO Walker has to come back if fit. Don't mind if Rachele has another week off.
As for the rest of selection, meh, I'm over it.

JK returned last week. Kelly, Gaff and Shuey all have good records against us.
Kelly - 2 BOG from 3 games against us as an Eagle.
Gaff has never kicked a point against us - but has 9 goals straight and 11 Brownlow votes in 17 games.
Shuey averages 26 touches in his last 4 against us.

I hope we've learned from the GWS game that we still have to play to get the win. I'm still tipping us, but I wouldn't be taking the $1.11 odds.
How Crowesque would it be to lose this game even if we were contending and in a position to need a win!

For team morale and supporter morale Crows need to win this and I hope we can while including a couple/few more of the untried, the under-tried and the 'kids'.

McHenry dropped ?? Nah.

Smith maybe but unlikely, Crouch unlikely too but I'd love to see it.
