Review R23: The Good, Bad and Ugly vs. Port Adelaide

I said before the Showdown that our performance would either validate our recent form or make it look fraudulent.

Personally I always felt that our game against the Dogs and Cats, was a result of them taking the game easy and not a reflection of how well we were going.
Until the rankine hit we were doing ok. After that we completely lost our minds

A small minority booing him off was poor.

The majority myself included clapped him off.

I'm finding it hard to believe that any supporters - even Port supporters :) - would boo an injured player like that. My theory, albeit I wasn't there - is it was Crows supporters booing the hit / Houston?

Footy show saying that houston didn't get him in the head and will only be 3 weeks so he can play in the grand final. And there is an argument he gets off. Kane the main one that thinks it will be more
Well Ken's already implemented the good bloke defence so it might be only three....compare that to McAdam's no injury, but potential to cause injury adjudication. FMD this has to be minimum of 4.

The image of Houston's shoulder well above Rankines head when only 10cm aoart alone says he got him in the head. There is no angle that supports a view that he didn't get him in the head.

My take is that he will get 4 weeks. It's on par with other suspensions so it's easy for the AFL to avoid controversy leading into finals.

It has to be either the same as Rankin got 4 weeks for or more otherwise the tribunal is corrupt.

When i was about 8 an old lady hit me with her umbrella at Alberton because i called rohan Smith a baldy. I learned a few new words from dad shortly after that
Yep, I’d believe it. There is something in their brains that flicks when it comes to football. Just beyond any other die hard supporter base.

I completely believe there are many of them that would hit a strangers kid if that kid said something bad about their “boys”.

Completely feral.

It will be 4 at the absolute minimum.

Wouldn't be surprised if they go 6 though.

Intentional, High impact, player concussed.

I cant possibly see how its not worse than Rankines 4 weeks. Rankine and the Lions player went at each other front on - eyes wide open - and Izak was silly enough to hit the head region with nowhere near the ferocity and unlucky it was a concussion.

The much harder Houston hit was to a totally unprotected player who had no way of knowing a hit was coming. Its 5 or 6 weeks esp him being from an unloved interstate team.

Also dont you love the AFL media headlines. Very different to when Cotching somehow got off in that 2017 prelim where the same headlines on AFL site - plus all MLB newspapers- existed just WITHOUT the 'Monster ban looms'

'Really, really good person': Power defend Houston as monster ban looms

There's vision of people literally waving at him as he goes down the race. They were absolutely booing him.

Neck injury from high contact and he missed a bunch of weeks if I recall. I thought about including that one but it wasn't actually a concussion
He didn't miss any weeks from that. But it was his first game back from a neck injury which ended up plagueing him most of that season.

I'm pretty sure the only game he missed in 2022 was after the game where he started so strongly against Carlton they literally put a hit on him.
