Absolutely. Pretty soon we'll have a generation of kids who have grown up with BBL being their main source of summer cricket viewing, and I fear it will be seen as the pinnacle of the sport in this country.
Not discrediting you, but I did just mention these three posts ago1. The BCCI rule over cricket.
2. And the money they receive in the IPL for the short period of time is only surpassed by American Big 4 and European Football leagues.
3. A large majority of players miss out on the IPL every season, whereas the BBL is pushing for players to join. Out of the 1003 players that signed up for the 2019 auction, only 60 players found clubs. Pujara, McCullum, Amla, S. Marsh, Mathews, Morne Morkel, Steyn, Pattinson, Duminy, Faulkner, Philander, and Eion Morgan all missed out in the auction that was held a few days ago. Any BBL club would bend over backwards to have any of these players come play.
4. There’d be no BBL without the success of the IPL, infact no domestic franchise T20 would not exist without IPL. Also, the BBL isn’t franchise league, as the clubs are all owned by the BBL, whereas the IPL franchises are bought by global companies.
4. And probably one of the most important things, the BBL is played during peak period in term of cricket. Majority of the the domestic leagues are running at the moment, and the Mzansi Premier League just concluded as well. The ICC don’t accomodate the other leagues, only the IPL.
I’m sure there are more points, but I’ll leave it for now. And anyone that says the BBL is the best T20 league in the league is wrong. Leagues like the CPL, BPL, PSL, Ram Slam and the Mzansi garners far more attention internationally.
While I’d rather go to a T20 match than a test (just went to the BBL today actually) this is a solid meme.

Bit of an ugly win but I’ll take the win that’s for sure! A lot of Primary Schools only finished today so I’d imagine they’d just be resting for a few days. Playing a side we’ve never beaten doesn’t help either but I’d imagine a bigger crowd v 6ers which I’ll be going to.I was there too, disappointing crowd turn out actually (and the match wasn't too crash hot, we made a mess of it but got the win, phew). Only 15k there for the first match of the season against quality opposition. Plenty of schools have finished up for the year and work would nearly be done wouldn't it? I was thinking maybe 25-30k would be there tonight. There'll be a few there at our next home match on the 29th against the Sixers no doubt, being on holidays and a Saturday night

Side note: did you see they posted 19k on the scoreboard only to correct it to 14k a minute later? That was a bit weird.
Third thing: were you in the members bay?
20k might have been from the first game, crowd looked around that there.First: Absolutely, bit of an awkward night for the match but next time it will be huge - I'll be there too
Second: Yeah I noticed that, I was thinking '20k, not too bad' and then they changed it and it was like '15k geeeez that's average'. Not sure where they got the first number from, might have a list of match attendances and they read the wrong one
Third: Yep, bought an Access Red membership for the first time. Great fun, good bunch of people and a nice view of the pitch too around fine leg/third man. Didn't talk to anyone but they seemed quite nice, no troublemakers, and it's nice to be on the team with majority support (especially compared to some recent Geelong games where it's felt like I'm the only Cats supporter there)
Well, I look like David Luiz...20k might have been from the first game, crowd looked around that there.
You would have been in the same area as me and SarahSmiles then
No idea if you would have seen a guy in a Port Adelaide cap but that was me

I know it’s only BBL but I can’t help but feel just a little bit proud. The odds were never in the Gades’ favour so a great win in the end.Was a great effort to go out and keep the Scorchers to 103, perhaps there is life in our bowling lineup after Hogg and Bravo.
Our batting performance at the start was woeful, 4/17 it was at one point. I sort of expected something like that from the Renegades anyway but once Harper was one our luck started changing for the better.
I think I underestimated our bowlers coming into the game but I also learnt that maybe we have decent middle order batsmen which can help. Maybe Ludeman and White were just having off nights, at least I hope. Anyway, first win against the Scorchers in BBL history... (is that even something to be proud of) better late than never.
Well you are alone on that one!ODI is probably my favourite games to go to. Not gimmicky like T20 cricket and while I'd love to go to a 5-day test match, I have other things in life which take away my attention from that. It would be like watching a Lord of The Rings marathon and skipping half of it then coming back, you miss a lot of the story.
ODI is just the sweet spot because you watch two brilliant innings of cricket and you get to go home knowing the result which is nice.
Me, calo and PeanutButterPies were in the members bay, aisle 9 I think it was
I'd hope there was more than just me, ODI is pretty much just a test compressed into a day, or a T20 stretched out into one day. It's the perfect game of cricket which maximizes quality and class, except whenever Shane Watson was playing.Well you are alone on that one!
I’m sure this isn’t going to offend any of the test match enthusiasts we have here...I'd hope there was more than just me, ODI is pretty much just a test compressed into a day,
Whats the go with Level 1 seating at Marvel. When I have been there for Derbies, I have always only been allowed to sit level 3. I am going to the Sixers v Renegades game at the end of the month primarily because the Stars Women's are playing the curtain raiser and want to watch them play.
ruddy pyjama cricket!I’m sure this isn’t going to offend any of the test match enthusiasts we have here...
