Thanks for your help guys but the Tigerair flights that were a reasonable price have sold now and the cheapest flight from Adelaide to Melbourne that will get there intime is $275 so its a no go.
It's a pain; the AFL may be okay with going head-to-head with the F1 but it sucks for those trying to get here from interstate/overseas. Flight prices are ridiculously inflated for these events.

Yeh thats it. I had my eye on a flight from ADL to MELB that was $175 on Tigerair, but when I came back to confirm it, it was gone :( Then the next cheapest one is Qantas at $275. NO DEAL!!

Thinking of making a trip over to Melbourne for the Port vs Carlton game tonight. I just had a look at the tickets and this is what it gave me
Price Category One
13. Level 3 - General Admission
Full Viewing

This ticket doesnt have a specific seat on it, does this mean that Level 3 is open to sit where ever for this game.
Ive never been to Etihad before so this is all new to me.
Yeah it differs between clubs.

Next to one of the scoreboards on level 3 about 20 rows in an aisle are reserved for families of those playing Auskick at half time, apart from that it should be all good, apart from about the first 3 rows in the occasional spot.

You will be able to snare a seat front row level 3, though.

This is how North does it, but then again, the demand isn't that high for North. We push cheap seats at our supporters and upgrades to get everyone on levels 1 and 2, to make it appear that we have an alright crowd there.

Stacks of seats on level 3 though, if you get to your seat 20 mins before the game, you should be fine.

Etihad is the best stadium I've ever been to. It's really comfortable and you have a good view everywhere
Clearly never been to Blundstone Arena and TIO Stadium.

Wow, so you haven't been to the MCG? Atmosphere trumps all.
Oh yeah, it's Anzac Day one weekend then Carlton - Collingwood the next before the Grand Final.

When there's a hundred thousand people there it's pretty special, but that happens twice and most people are lucky to get to one of those. Most of the time there's about 35,000 there and it's far from being a mecca of atmosphere. I don't hate it at all, great stadium and something to be proud of, but Etihad is better – no such thing as a bad seat, easier access with amenities, easier to get around. The only negative is the bottleneck.

Just chucking my two bobs worth in here, but have any of you been to ANZ Stadium in Sydney? Atmosphere is great there in most games, especially games like Sydney v Collingwood.
The SCG is also electric. You can sit anywhere you like.

Went there for the first time in 2007 to see us beat AFL by a point.

Atmosphere was good that night because it was the GF rematch and we won, but it's generally a shit stadium. It looks terrible on TV and it's usually a pretty poor atmosphere. Just looks like a big concrete jungle.

By what measure?

Have they given the stadium the 'ok' yet? Or is it still a 'could happen' thing?
They've given the stadium the 'let's build the ****ing thing already'.

Right.. you got a link? I'm out of the loop with this.
Can't be bothered finding a link but I drove past the other day and the golf course had already been removed. The groundwork will take a year to complete before they can even build anything.

Looks nice, I also love the name. "New Perth Stadium" has a great ring to it.
No doubt the name will be ruined by some sponsorship deal. Hopefully it's not as woeful as 'Pattersons'.
