Worst hottest 100 ever? So far the top 10 is all funeral music. Hopefully top 5 is better. Sicko Mode massive show for No. 1
Contemporary music is 95% cow dung.
All people can do is make the proper preparations. They are a guaranteed event in this country.
If you live in a heavily wooded area and don't have some kind of underground bunker with water & oxygen, or a bug out plan, then you are poorly prepared.
If you live on the plains and don't have fire control measures and a bug out plan, then you are poorly prepared.
Ok, so I love my music, worked in the industry for 20 odd years..... but this years Hottest 100 has lost me! Wtf is some of this rubbish? Ocean Alley mmm na, Amy Shark
Ps: Yes I'm feeling old now!
I have always viewed the Republican Party as being the party for (almost) extreme neo-conservatives, while maintaining a strong focus on only certain right wing liberal rights (usually property and small business in the English/Australian/European case), i.e. bear arms/free speech/minimal government interference etc. The Republicans are, generally speaking, as extreme as modern day capitalists as you can get (they still don't measure up to the pure capitalist systems of the early to late 19th century). In saying that, the Tea Party faction takes the Neo-Con approach to the world and takes it to a new level with very little government involvement. There appears to be a bit of divide between old school family values/rural/small business/town Republicans and the more extreme neo-cons like Shapiro/Tea Party/etc. The latter faction is right in the middle of the so-called Culture War, which is a bit disturbing.Didn't this incident happen in America? Those people in the red (I've only looked this up today so i'm not really over the incident) hats represent the sort of Republican conservatism that made the US such a dog eat dog place. We're not having a shot at anyone else, well i'm not anyway.
And most people do conflate US conservatism with conservatism as a whole because that's how the media narrative is structured. US "conservativism" - basically the bastard child of Ayn Rand and Billy Graham - bleats the loudest and makes the claim to represent all conservative values fairly constantly. It'd be much better if other conservative voices were more popular cos even environmentalism is a form of conservative thought if you look at it the right (or wrong) way. But there are a lot of people who get power and wealth from those views dominating debates.
And there's an element that dominates US conservatism and genuinely hates people and human things.
I think William Burroughs summed it up best in his Thanksgiving day prayer:
For decent church-goin' women,
with their mean, pinched, bitter,
evil faces.
Thanks for
"Kill a Queer for Christ"
stickers
and especially that devastating last line
Thanks for the last and greatest betrayal
of the last and greatest
of human dreams.
As far as pro life goes ... its should be an individuals choice whether they want another potential human effectively being a parasite for 9 months.
Its not men's business imo. We don't carry kids to term, and in a society where individual freedom and choice is so valued the people who do (ie women) should be the ones who exercise the right to choose whether they want to go thru that or not. Especially given the potential for death that is still there (even with the modern medical stuff we have to keep mums and babies alive when they would have died even half a century ago.)
I am looking forward to see how the North Women go and whether the standard of the AFLW has been raised on last year's comp.Anyone else excited about the Australian Open final because once that’s done it’s all footy baby baby
You inspired me to look thru the list (I don't recognise many songs) and there's a song called "Pussy is God".
I agree. We have bumper stickers that say "We're prepared. Are you?"
But here's the thing ... if a fire like Black Saturday happens again but the change from the SW doesn't come then it will burn thru Melbourne's outer eastern suburbs and won't stop till it hits Bass Strait. On the wrong day everything east of Ringwood could potentially be under threat. But even if it just hit the edge of the city 1000s of homes and possibly lives could be lost.
I know people who didn't die on Black Saturday because of the "cool change" that wiped out Strathewan and so much around Kinglake. They would have but instead the wind changed direction from NWerly to SWerly and their friends and neighbours died. if you follow the course of that fire without that change and there are potentially tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of people in its way.

Funny you mention conservatism and environmentalism, the Nazi's had some of the most advanced environmental laws you would ever see, being the ultra-extreme racial form of conservatism.
The true Neo-Con's don't hate people, but they treat them more as a commodity and are very business like in their approach to the world. Conservatism, at its core level is about property rights, economic liberal rights, maintaining healthy traditions, fostering a sense of community at the local and national levels, instilling healthy values, instilling the virtues of national sacrifice as national citizens and making sure that change happens at a rate that we don't overextend ourselves as a race (and that should include environmentalism conservatism).
I won't get too far into the abortion debate as it is a very deep issue. I disagree about it not being men's business. If the man is fiscally and morally responsible for the wife and child after the 9 months, then he has a right as a father to decide in regards to abortion. I have zero issues if the health of the mother is at risk, the mother's life is paramount. However, if you leave that parasite alone for 9 months, it'll grow into a human being. In saying I am pro-life, I am still very conflicted over maintaining the individual rights of the mother and the father, but also the fact that they are living cells, thus the individual rights of that human baby.
As we went past princess park today I asked my girls if they’d like to watch North play there.....it’s our girls team. They excitedly yelled “yes daddy!” So yer I’m in. I’ve tried to get them interested in North, and yeah they sing the song, know the colours, they’ll tell people Jack Ziebell is their favourite player but I’ve never been able to get them to actually care about a game. They’re only 5 & 7 so that’s fairly normal. But girls playing has triggered something in them. Especially my youngest, she’s a sports nut. I laugh because she’s always got a ball in her hand, be it a footy, basketball, tennis ball, soccer ball-at her feet.
Am I personally interested in AFLW? Not really, especially when we’re a merged team with tassie.
Do I want my daughters to think they can play sport at the highest level if they’re good enough? Absolutely.
Macedon/Gisborne/Bulla/Epping/Kal Kallo...all suddenly populated in grasslands
I'm at my parents place in Sunbury at the moment. All that new development north (and south) of Mt Ridley Rd is in a huge grassland. i used to cut across at Donnybrook road and it was all empty paddocks. Now its full of houses. That black saturday fire would have chugged thru there like a steam train if that wind had been a bit more northerly. And it would on a similar day if the powerlines failed at Riddells Creek.
Macedon got hit in 1983. We'd just got to Melbourne the year before and looked in that area at houses (from Gisborne as well.) A few of the ones mum and dad thought about buying got burnt.
Epping in 1988 was country
Childs Road a two way narrow road with bad shoulders..car crashes on that road
Now check it out
Another 30 years sand Kilmore will be an outer suburb

The urban sprawl will be seen as the greatest waste of resources of all time. Too many cars, chewing up the land. People often look at human history of a few hundred years ago and wonder how were they so stupid, well they’ve got nothing on us. We’re literally being told by scientists to stop chewing up the earth or the next generation is ******, and everyone’s like, nah that’s bullshit. Meanwhile temperatures sore and people complain when their power cuts out? But nah she’s sweet m8, this is normal, the earth was built by the the good god himself and it doesn’t matter how many forests we cut down or how many cars, planes, factories, club x’s whatever, the only reason this planet exists is so we can earn a place in heaven.
Pfft global warming. As if god would allow such a thing.
