Cracking day for a burn offView attachment 1492468
A lifetime ago when we moved onto our farm, there was a massive pile of "removed vegetation" kinda near to our road, and even nearer to directly underneath powerlines. Anyway, my couple of sandwiches short of a picnic exwife decided to pour about a gallon of petrol onto said timber, then flick a flaming redhead. Well, in what was the longest delayed 3 seconds I can recall, my very much still alive cat, Geoffrey, shot out of the pile like Gunsynd, the old Goondiwindi Grey, she who used to be obeyed fell over backwards and I earned one of those looks from laughing heartily. Happy days. Power lines warmed but unscorched :)

I’m in a bit of a rut again lol as usual what’s new. I am just so confused what I want to study.

I am so confused like I’m going back to what I wanted to do in year 12 which is forensic science/ criminology and I think because that’s the same time I went through my trauma it like made me not wanna do it anymore but idk. I am going coo coo
What you do can and will change over time so don't give yourself a hard time. Worst case scenario is that you will get to a point where you have to finish a degree that you aren't exactly passionate about, but you can always refocus later with a grad cert, grad dip, a masters or a research degree. This may seem ha huge commitment for someone your age, but in reality it isn't. Learning should be a life long pursuit and there is no prize for finishing first. Shit, there are no prizes at all, so go on your journey and do as much shit you enjoy and are interested in and get as much out of it as you can.

Uni should be seen as an opportunity for you to explore the disciplines that you are interested in early, but to focus on specifics later on. For example, I know someone who went in doing a communications degree, and over time found that they had a passion for creative writing. The completed their comms degree, then did honours in creative writing, followed by a PhD with a poetry focus.

Something to consider with forensic sciences and criminology is that there are very few career paths and job opportunities for what are very popular programmes (so huge competition for limited places post qualification). Would you be better off doing a science degree with major/minor in chemistry/biology and electives in criminology and/or forensic science subjects? Probably. It would give you a more rounded science background and more opportunities moving forward rather than a forensic science degree which looks fairly light on re the science stuff.

Anyways Ligs, I would recommend going to a careers councillor at Uni, or even externally if you can find someone good. Talking it through with someone who knows how the degree structures work AND who can think outside the admin side of things will assist you in looking at your options and probably help you find some clarity.

Best of luck.

EDIT Ligma: The thing about plans is that good ones change, and often. Things never work out exactly how we want them to, and if we actually learn something along the way then this will alter any underlying plan that you have in place. Whatever you do, don't be afraid to fail, don't be afraid to make a mistake and never, ever, ever, ever, let your fear or anxiety stop you from moving forward. Just go for it. And take it from someone who has lived twice as long as you (at least) don't give regret the opportunity to become part of your story. Regret is worse than failure and by a long way. You may not succeed in all you do, but at least you have given it a crack and I can guarantee you that you will have learned something from it that will change you.

I've moved to the dark side.

I got an iPhone after many years with Android.

Seems OK so far - iPhone 13 camera seems a step up from Samsung S9 and Apple Wallet not as intuitive as Google Pay and no myki on iPhone is a pain.

The migration process was a bit of a nightmare, I ****ed something up and had to do a couple of factory resets and migrate again. Third time lucky but have had to manually download and set up all my apps.

It's definitely an upgrade on my old phone but I can safely say I'll never join the Apple fan boi club.

I don’t get it. He’s the lowest of the low.
There's alot lower than that actually. Some of the things people do...

Not that this guy is any good. He's basically Jake Stringer who then killed his missus (after they had two kids.) I hope he dies alone in his cell, that would be fitting.

He was a school teacher that had an affair with an underage girl, killed his wife, moves in the girl and raised his victims daughters into believing their mum just left them.

He’s a peodo and a murderer. He’s pretty low mate.

China is still going for Covid zero. By now you’d think they’d realise that’s impossible unless they completely cut themselves off from the rest of the world. Crazy to think the place it originated from is one of the last places doing this type of thing.

Hasnt it also got to do with their vaccines being less effective?

Pretty sure you're onto something SammyRoo
I've got a staff member who is a Chinese national. He lives in Nanjing half the year and in Australia for the other half. He returned to Australia a few months back and was fully unvaccinated because he did not trust the Sinovax. Amazingly he was allowed entry with 2 weeks quarantine before flying to his home state where he served another 2 weeks. Then he was allowed back into the community (where he immediately went and got the Pfizer Vax)

Part of me thinks maybe they're a bit further ahead in terms of research on the longer effects of COVID infection.
