It's not average. They are a business. They can delay footy by half an hour and lose very few viewers, whilst fitting in another high-rating program in prime time. Smart.
You can jump straight off your high horse. It is about treating football followers with respect.

He's 100% correct. They're a business, so they aim for maximizing their profits. If not respecting football followers means they earn a million or two more on ad buys, you bet their arse they'll be lining up for it. Respect doesn't pay any bills, so until the viewing numbers drop enough for Seven to take notice you'll be watching on your half hour delay (in Melbourne) or five hour delay (which is what I've been stuck with, yet I still watch them finishing at 2 or 3 am).

There's a company who predicates their profit on showing games on time. They're called Foxtel.

Is it just me or has the Scoring changed in Supercoach???? I was looking at how scores are rewarded in both SC and DT and blind me you can get just a point for everything in SC:confused::confused:

Nothing has changed although in the preseason the scores are weighted differently.

No change - Supercoach uses Champion Data statistics as it has done for years - in fact what the Herald Sun tells you about how to score points in not even NEARLY the only way to score points, it is MUCH more complicated than what is listed, as points awarded will change according to position on ground, pressure applied, time left in the game (for instance you can get an instant boost of about 50 points or so for a goal kicked on/after the siren to win the match) !!

My favourite was when Joel Selwood farted and got an extra 3 points and won me the Grand Final ... :)

What is the difference between DT and SC?

Hey guys,

I've been reading some threads and occassionally see someone say something like "They'd be good for DT but aren't really SC material" and similar.

I've played SC for 1 season and have been thinking about trying out DT also and I wanted to know, what are the essential differences between the two games? Are points scored on a completely different basis? I've heard player values and budgets are lower in DT, but is this it? Is there something I may be missing/not understanding?

I've had a look for a post on this issue but cannot find one. If anyone knows of one and can share it'd be appreciated, otherwise any feedback or help would be really great!

The essential differences are:

i. the scoring system
ii. the salary cap and player prices

The differences in salary cap and player prices doesn't really mean much.

There are relevant differences in the scoring system in that it rewards many more criteria and particularly rewards disposal efficiency and contested footy whilst being harsh on clangers and the like. Also points are weighted towards the importance of the match, that is a goal kicked to win the game is worth more than a goal kicked at another time.

Apart from that the games are pretty much identical, and most players are comparable across each game.

The dumb question thread

This thread is dedicated to all the questions you have that you're thinking are too dumb too ask. Big Fozza is saying to you; ask 'em!

My question is this; I know I should understand and I kinda get it but what is going on with all this talk with J Tippett and Petrie? They're both MPPs??? Can someone explain it to me please in the simplest terms?

(I know Petrie's suspended now rd 1 and bye rd 3 from Petrie dilemma thread)

Shanks in advance

Edit: I somehow missed random question thread - merge away

Re: The dumb question thread

Pretty simple, you can move players across positions.

I didn't use it at all last year, however with the byes, I have a few of them in my team that can be switched around.

Re: The dumb question thread

I used it a little bit last year mostly involving Davis and Waite, it saved me a couple of donuts. No doubt with 3 bench players and byes it'll be used a fair bit more.

And just to clear it up, any players you already have in your team that can be switched between positions can be swapped as many times as you like without taking up a trade. That's why the J Tippett/Petrie selections are popular. Have Tippett in your rucks all year and Petrie playing in your forward line and then swap Petrie to your rucks when your other rucks have a bye.

one serious question, one stupid, yet interesting one..maybe

serious question first, yes or no, are they having the partial lockout at the start of the season like they did last year?

stupid question....
with all of the recent weather that we have been getting, out of curiousity, are you picking players that can play wet weather football? who knows how much rain we will get this year at this rate???

Searched this whole thread and no one has asked about when the black book will be released. Does anyone have any ideas? I spose it's hard to know when, just comes out randomly.

If you're talking about that Champion data one I've heard it advertised a few times on SEN so it must be available somewhere.

You could try the Champion Data website, or check at a local newsagent

Nah meant the Supercoach little black book that comes out every year with the paper.

SC little black book out this Saturday...

has anyone else had issues in firefox with the interface generally looking crap (a lost of images not loading etc)?
