Not too much is wrong with your structure except you have imo a weak F5.

You could make a case for 4 hawks on the field and one on the bench.

Mitchell, Hodge, Birchall, Suckling and Langford.

But... There are byes to consider.

Yeah had just forgotten what the bye rules were exactly.

I've got four hawks in my def. atm. Mitchell, Birchall, Suckling and Langford. Still only 7 R9 byes though, R8 and 10 are my biggest problems. Hard to decide how much emphasis to put on creating a balanced team in regards to bye rounds...Don't want to overthink it since we've got so many trades between then and now. Mainly want to leave some room to get R8 mids that are firing.

Good team and structure.

I'm not completely sold on Zaharakis, although I know he's tempting. He could have that break out year, in fact, it's probably due. It's just his last 3 years averaging 80's (and going down) that makes me hesitant.

I have a query over Grundy as one of your rucks in only his second year.

And I'm not sure about Mayne and Hunter, but back yourself.

I saw last year as a break-out for him, even as a mature age player.

Did you catch his final against Carlton? Monster 168 from 42 disposals.

He was 2nd for total disposals and 3rd for total kicks in the entire league. With these numbers you can't say he didn't play a midfield role last year.

McVeigh scored 168 and 122 in finals(these do not count towards his DT price) and had 39 disposals in a NAB Challenge match. I can't see him going back to the midfield and I would definitely have him. It is possible to fit in Enright or Hodge, Bartel and Mitchell as well. Still allowing you to select 5 premium mids and 3 top forwards. There are quite a few experienced types who you can select on the bench to save money in your initial team.

Have played around with this quite a bit and it is possible to get a team with the big four - Johnson, Ablett, Pendlebury, Swan and still have a reasonable forward and back line. I doubt if I will start with this line-up as I am altering it daily. I doubt that I would try to get all 4 big ticket players but I may try to get Johnson into my starting line-up at the expense of Swan or Pendlebury, probably Pendlebury. Matthew Boyd has also been considered for 2 reasons, his consistency and also that his break even for the first round is 49.

Pretty good effort for a first go, I'd be looking at Rhyce Shaw, Ben Kennedy and Jack Macrae as possible weak links though. Perhaps ditch Cox (blasphemy coming from me) for someone cheaper and use the money to upgrade elsewhere. You've probably gone one expensive player in the backline too many as well as you have McDonald on the bench, have him on the field, ditch Shaw (unless of course you want to keep him) and use the cash wisely. Good luck, you've picked a good year to start
