Just a couple of changes here for me.

Macdonald goes out, and Jason Gram comes in. Gram is slightly cheaper, and I think he has more potential than Macdonald. Also, Saints bias.

Vince goes out, O'Keefe in. Emphasis on position switching if need be.

Forward line is where most of the changes occur.

Franklin and Rioli in, as well as Brett Burton (who comes in to give me more dough to bring in ROK and Rioli). Knights, Waite and Murphy go out, and while they had potential, I would assume Franklin, Rioli and Burton have the potential to score more points. But prove me wrong.

All comments would be awesome, but I'm off for the night.

Will leave the team comment to those who know something about this but in my admittedly biased opinion Rioli and Franklin are bargains this year.

With a full preseason and upgraded midfield (Hodge and Burgoyne to play middle this year) Buddy is a lock for 100 a week while Rioli will get alot more time up the ground this year with Hooper and maybe Peterson getting a go as crumbing forward.

Looks a nice side. Well Balanced but NO GAZZA ! Porps injured i believe, check the Crows board for an update there. Can't have Simmonds either was burnt a few years back by this bludger. Lucky to be still at the Tiggers, slow and not a SC player on the up. Not a lot of critisism to give.

Looks like a pretty good side but do have a few comments. Goodes can be a real slow starter but if you really do want him, put him down forward for murphy or gia and get danger in the mids maybe. Martin and trengrove both starting is a big risk not sure if that's a good choice, maybe turf one. Tapscott and Tarrant both starting again is a big risk, maybe put one on the pine and have one playing. Other than that it's a goo side, maybe has a few to many rookies starting but that can be helped. Your backline is really good. Overall I'd give it a 7/10

Hmmm, point taken. I don't really have much cash left to make any of those trades, but I'll consider them.

Goddard is always a good player to have, and in theory, I could make the Trengove trade you mentioned to get Goddard. I dunno exactly about Sandilands. I picked Tippett as a goalscoring ruckman, but Sandi is always a good player to have.

Goodes for Rioli? I dunno, I'm hearing big things about Rioli this year, and he does look like a steal at just a little more than 400 Grand. Hmmm, I'm not sure about Robbie Tarrant. I think a Burton or a Polak would be more consistant. But hey, if it looks good as the season progresses, I'd definately consider it.

Overall a good side
Just a few concerns with a few players

In ur backline uv got some strong players ie. goddard and lake
and some outsiders like kennely who hear has got his body in great nick after a year out of AFL and playing in the Ieland league and he should slot right back in with the swans
Im not sure about surjan a little to inconsistant for me mabye a cambell brown or jarrod Atkinson who are around the same price mark

Ur midfield is very nice good balance but im not sure about crowley if uv got the cash mabye go for palmer for just 30,000 more hes had a strong pre season

I would leave ur ruckman alone u cant go wrong with sandi

And ur forward is a strong one except for harvey i dont see him scoring big and he is moving on in age I would go for mabye a stevie J or Shaun Higgins for a little bit less and use the money to up grade some players

If you made these changes I would rate this team as 8/10 instaed of mabye a 7

Hmmm. I can't say I'm sold on Dean Cox this year. He is getting older, and although he is a dominant force, injury may be a worry. Will Maguire get his chance at Brisbane? If he does, then it may be a risk worth taking.

Mitch Farmer? Hmmm, I like Sheppard more. I'm not sold on Monfries either, but I don't know much about his SC side.

I thought Palmer was out for round 1 with an injury, but I may be misinformed. Lastly, will Talia get a gig straight away with the Crows? He might be a little lean.

Ur team looks very nice but im not convinced with some players
In ur back line uv picked up some handy players but im not sure about waite coming of a knee. I would have stuck with gram in a high possession saints side.
Ladson mabye could be switched with tiller from the doggies Big raps on him from rocket eade or for 5k more malceski

Not sold on harvey or Burgoyne I think there are better options in there price range mabye Lewis or Cooney for harvs and rischitelli for burgoyne cause he scores more goals

Rucks are good

you could down grade hille for a jesse white and upgrade tippet if u want

And forwards I would they seem well balanced

Sorry but your midfield is pretty bad, Crowley Eagleton.... Van Berlo-ok.
For you to have a better team you need to downgrade your reserves to around $83000-$100000 rather than having player $150000 plus. Overall its an ok side but won't challenge top competitors.

Thanks Borrus. I do like Goodes as he was the 5th best scorer last year and is multi-position. Can you tell me why you suggest Murphy or Gia out and Danger in would be better?

With the rookies, point taken particularly in the forward line where they aren't as strong, and I've got a $170k rookie on the bench in the midfield as well I should probably downgrade. Any suggestions on possible trades to fix?

Yeah fair enough mate. The main point is you can't just look for value in every position - the only ways the price improving helps you is (a) you get a good scorer for cheap and (b) if you trade them out to cash in

(b) is out of the picture when it comes to keepers, players you intend to keep the whole year. You need a certain number of these as you only get 20 trades and 22 rounds for player prices to increase. Having Goodes & Trengove means you only need to trade out Trengove after he reaches his peak for someone you will hold onto all year, as opposed to both say Kennelly and Burgoyne, unless you think one or both will improve enough not to have to swap them out.

Regarding (a), you are generally more likely to get higher price improvements in quality rookies than seasoned players, so I would try to create a side with at least 12 keepers, max 6 midrange, 4 starting rookies and 8 bench rookies. That means you need to use 10 trades to add 10 keepers to the 12 chosen initially, and the rest to correct stuffups in your selections that become evident through the year and for injury cover.

You could add more keepers and rookies instead of midrangers, but you don't want too many starting rookies and you still want the midrangers on board that are most likely to gain value.

You may disagree, but in your latest side I count 11/8/3/8, so you are probably one downgrade/upgrade of midrangers away from the right balance
