Mumford, Giles (Cordy, Stephensen)

Fwds
Franklin, Martin, Gray, Sidebottom, Brown J, Saad, Smedts (Hampton, Panos)

Thoughts and opinions all appreciated
A few interesting picks there, Gray, Sidey, JB in particular.

Gray could be a great pod but at the same time plays for Port which would be a deal breaker for me. More time in the midfield I believe this year and should improve on last year's average so could possibly be a top 10 forward but I'm not sure if he will be.

Sidey I don't think will be a bolter, just not enough points available playing for Collingwood so his time in the guts is always going to be limited. I'd much prefer a key player in a shit team then a second stringer in a top side if that makes sense.

JB is the risk/reward player of this year that most are going to be considering. His durability is the obvious issue but is more than capable of pumping out mammoth scores. I just don't know if the game has evolved past a Brown-like KPF like him, especially in a bottom team.

I won't comment on the rookies because I don't know enough about them but I do like your unique choices, your midfield PODs and your overall structure :thumbsu:

Here's my first what I would call researched team.

B: Goddard, Enright, Bock, Grimes, Hargrave, Clarke, Ellis (Smeldts, Wilkes)

M: GAJ, Selwood, Swallow, Thompson, Shiel, McDonald (Brown, Mitchell)

R: Cox, Giles (Stephenson, Derickx)

F: Franklin, Pavlich, Chapman, Harvey, Martin, Treloar, Walsh (Curran, Panos)

I've gone for a few out of the norm pics to try and mix it up and compete with Prompts who inevitably tops our home league every year.

Cox I'm hoping will be a POD as most won't be running with him. Swallow and Thompson are being chosen for their draw and Pav back forward hopefully means he'll be back to his best fantasy scores which they historically are. Harvey is a possible out but North's draw is sweet and Boomer will be right amongst it when they're pounding teams. My rookies will change but i'm pretty sure i've got the main DPP links covered. Thoughts?

I like the look of above ^
Few interesting picks, didnt even think of thompson/swallow. If anything like last year will rack up some massive score.

a pretty solid team overall and i can only query two choices.

firstly bock, isnt he missing a few games at the start of the season due to suspension? (i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure ive heard it somewhere)

finally hargrave, he's only ever averaged over 90 once in his career and as such i don't see him as a likely player to go premium again, especially if lake slots back into the side at the start of the season. I'd be watching his form (and lakes) over the rest of the nab cup closely

in terms of your other choice i agree that cox will be a pod with most sides from what ive seen atm. Imo he is overpriced but i wouldnt say his selection is bad, he's still looking like the #1 ruckman for the year

i've been looking at harvey as well, as you will be aware his age is a concern, can he keep the 100+ average goimg? with the easier draw north has i believe he's a good chance and he does make a good pod

Ahhh ferrkkkkk he is suspended for 2 weeks for gambling :eek:

Time to rejig, yeah I do agree regarding Hargrave, hoping he can be a decent B7 and a luxury upgrade come finals time. I'm also banking on no Lake but I haven't put a great research into that so he could be on track for all I know lol

Thanks mate, back to the drawing board.

The other thing for Boomer is how does he go without captain duties. I'm sure there's been examples of this in the past. Anyone think of one?

The bolded are the only ones in your side I would think about keeping.

Too many mid priced players not enough premiums and rookies or cash cow possibilities. Think of players that will either be in the top 6 in their position's by the end of the year or rookies who will make you quick early cash which you can spin into premiums later on in the year i.e. McDonald from GWS will make early cash in the year this can be used to spin Hayes into Swan mid year for example

hi guys,

been playing with cash cow friendly formula. Any feedback is appreciated :)

Def: Goddard, Deledio, Shaw.H, Fisher, Birchall, Lake, Clarke, Blee, Talia
Mid: Ablett, Wingard, Morabito, Horsley, Shulz, Shiel, Kavanagh, McDonald
Ruc: Leunburgernfries, McEvoy, Giles, Stephensen
For: Franklin, Pavlich, Harvey, Rioli, Martin, Zaharakis, Saad, Treloar, Weedon

This combo allows for 13 prems(14 if you count zaha).

I can only find the 9 that are bolded that are likely to be top 6 in their position at the end of the year. Who are the other 4 or 5 that you see being premium by the end of the year?

I'm pretty sold on the premiums but will keep an eye on the rookies over the rest of the pre-season.

I hope you've got a fair bit of cash left over.

A couple of things I notice is that you've got a heavy reliance on 1st year players. Now, I'm all for having 3-4 new blokes per position, but I think you're setting yourself up for a fall when you 5.

Your rookies are too expensive as a whole;

Buntine: $176,600
Docherty: $141,600
Coniglio: $191,600
Wingard: 171,600
Haynes: $166,600

$848,000 --- 5 players prices at 113,200 = $566,000

$282,000 is a lot of cash and you're limitng how much you'll make from your rookies, so I'd reconsider these guys as you get to see more NAB cup games.

Also, Dell'Olio is exciting, but I just wonder if he'll get a shot. Even when we make an upgrade I doubt he'd be top priority.

Oh and $1.1m is a lot to spend on your rucks. Plenty of cash to free up by trusting Stephenson or Giles.
