Although I'm not a huge fan of Brett Ratten (as a coach), I would doubt he would get the ass before seasons end. Our last 2 months have been woeful, but we are still only one game out of the eight. There are still 9 games to go, so there is time to turn things around. He and the players should be given every opportunity to do so. If we do not make finals then all positions should be up for review (players and coaching staff).

Why are people even debating the merits of this.

Because the chances of Ratten being removed before the year is out are increasing by the day.

How many games in a row can we lose before something is done? It's not all about that of course, but I wouldn't be surprised if Ratts is knifed before August. A couple of wins might delay the inevitable. Do you really think he will be our coach in 2013?

He was a gun footballer, but he's had his chance to prove the doubters wrong as a coach and this year, with high expectations, he has failed to deliver.

Injuries? Yep they've probably cruelled our chances at times, but it's been more about the manner in which we have lost. No system, no pride and no playing for the coach.

The footage of Ratts in the box on Friday night (away from the bench at Sticks' instruction I believe) showed the face of a man out of ideas.

The whole place needs a broom through it.

nah just out of snakes leaving only gummy bears

Ok, let's look at it logically:

If there WAS going to be a press conference, then the club would have informed the press, so that they could attend.

If anything was happening, I'm sure word would have got out by now, a journo would have tweeted, etc.

Presser is to announce Goddard has signed :p

But seriously, I could see the club pulling something like this before the end of the season .. but not after a loss to a Hawthorn or Collingwood. If we keep losing and then put in a shocker against a kangas, lions, tigers, etc and lose by ten goals I could see it possibly happening then.

Also Yaz to admit he is homesick

You guys maybe one of your older player has announced his retirement. Scotland, Thornton or maybe Waite might have told the club they not continuing in 2013. Waite has back troubles, may have worsen up on the weekend and been told it is career ending.

Op was asked if it was related to a coaching announcement for sure and replied that it was!

Therefore if a press conference of anything else eventuates then he will certainly cop some heat from a few on here and if there is none at all, well it could get very ugly from a few frustrated posters!!

Best part of this thread was Umpa Lumpa liking every single post on the first page and a half or so.

Still several options for a press conference though:
1) An impromptu performance of "Stand by your Man."
2) The announcing of a time machine whereby we go back and take Talia over Lucas.
3) Collins announcing his ascendancy to the heavens.
4) Announcing surgery grafting Waite's shoulders and groin onto Juddy.
5) Waite's imminent retirement because his back is injured... and he gave his groin and shoulders to Juddy.
6) Sacking Russell just for old time's sake.

I think he prob does need to go, i said it myself after friday night, but you have to feel for the guy, Premiership Player, B&F in Premiership year, Club Champion,Club Captain, Coached us to over 100 games, the guy Bleeds Navy Blue, if he does go thank you Brett Ratten, i hope you will be remembered for all the good things you did for our club and not on just this season.

If you heard something second hand, you'd tentatively mention you had heard but are unsure of its validity and you would probably do it in an existing thread. Starting a thread, implying it is a given, makes you think it is a bit over the top. No history of having a source here so trust of that source would have to be dubious.

Any press tweeting about a Carlton press conference today?

We do not want that - the guy has been here 10yrs. An explanation of why he thought his source was reliable would suffice

I'll forgive, but I am sure my wife won't be happy I read through 5 pages of muck when I should be doing housework on my day off...
You know how to get around that don't you!
Just make sure there is nothing on the floor with particular attention to her range of view when she comes in the door and more importantly - have something ready for tea :)
ps Straighten the doona too
