i hate Carlton. their demise pleases me. what doesn't please me is watching previous champions of the club who then coach get hung for the shitful abilities of those on the park. all the talk will be about Malthouse/Ratten swap. focus will be off those duds who lost to a VFL team with Ablett. Malthouse or not the carlton list is in perilous spot. good midfield but staggered ages of the midfield a problem. a forward line of fast oompa loompas and that dickhead waite(good for 4 games a year and attitude like he's won the last four brownlows). what should be a good ruck core(probably offloaded the best of them in jacobs) and not much in the way of spine or key position types who take years to come on even if you draft them now. besides the obvious youth they don't have a stack of kids who look like they're gonna star. trade Rice Gimps. he represents all that's wrong at carlton. #1 pick with no heart, skill but no will. they did the dons last week. all got hard ons for a week. forgot that teams whoever they are show up to play. arrogant. typical. Ratten saw it early in the week when he said there'd be 'no complacency'. trouble is Ratt's they don't play like you did. tough, honest, 100%. i feel for ratts. carlton, enjoy the upset of the season. hurts so good.

I think a lot of pressure was placed on him to deliver optimal results once Judd was drafted.

They went short on their rebuild.

It's not going to happen for the current best 22.

Who put pressure on Ratten? If it's the board then they need to be kicked out just as much as Ratten if they are interfering with the football department. It should be the football department selling their ideas for team success to the board, not the other way around.

Ratten put the pressure on himself. Said they would be top 4 at the beginning of the year and then last week said they would be dangerous in the finals. Guy appears genuinely clueless when it comes to managing expectations.

Guy appears genuinely clueless period

I feel sorry for him. They absolutely lost the plot in the middle of the year but really started to turn it around but when they did, they had too many injuries to survive. Put Jamison, Laidler and Henderson in that backline tonight and they dont lose.

Reckon with a fit list he is capable of coaching them to top 4 but he may not get the chance next year.

Agree. It's the last remnants of the old school Carlton arrogance.

They need an injection of younger progressive thinkers that embrace the notion of complete rebuilds from the ground up.

The days of short cut premierships are over.

Malthouse or Craig.
Don't want another Pagan-type solution without at looking all the alternatives who want to coach. A big money coach such as Mick Malthouse wouldn't necessarily fix anything more than the next Longmire, Chris Scott, Brad Scott, Buckley or Sanderson. Rather go down the road of new coach than a big name and big money coach who are supposed to be miracle workers.
