As a Hawthorn supporter, I think that's a fair assumption to make.
At the round 1 game last year vs Geelong, there were some backpackers sitting behind us, so we explained the basics of the game to them. Interestingly, they were of the impression that a rule of playing AFL was to kick with the left foot. :D

Ahh, must be the same backpackers that explained the rules of the game to me :D:thumbsu:

Oh well done 24 Jr....sorry, i mean Henry...:p

Ouch - takes one in the ribcage.

Seriously mate, you reckon Lilse will get a gig in Rnd 1 and hang about there afterwards?

Think I would have Shoe and Dowler ahead of him at this stage but who knows how long the daisys will be in April.

Realy rate the kid HJ.....all he lacked when we drafted him was pace.....and from what iv seen at train'n..;) And sat....the club has got him going in the right direction.
Oh and Shoey is a lock...

Like the look of that Nev...

I've noticed there aint a lot of love for Muston around here lately? I know everyone's opinion's different but I personally think the guy's only gonna get better with game time.

Especially with Young out right now I'd be playing him in that role, loping run down the wing and penetrating left boot into attack. Sure he mightn't have the accuracy or the pace of Young but for mine he's in a similar mold and once again, should only get better.

Muston needs to drastically reduce the clanger count (by foot) before being considered for a regular spot.

B: Brown, Gibson, Gilham
HB: Birchall, Schoenmakers, Ladson
C: Shiels, Mitchell, Lewis
HF: Burgoyne, Dowler, Osborne
F: Rioli, Roughead, Hooper

R: Taylor, Sewell, Hodge

Int: Renouf, Ellis, Guerra, Suckling

I wanted to put him in my team, but I literally couldn't squeeze one of the other defenders/midfielders out of the team. Morton needs to play Round 1 for team balance, but when Buddy returns in Rd2, then possibly Suckling might be able to replace him.

Why Morton?

Last week he spent time at both HF and HB.

We obviously need someone to replace Buddy. For mine, the main options are:
- Lisle
- Dowler
- Renouf to play FF, Rough CHF and Taylor and Skipper to share the ruck work
- Schoey to play up forward with some quality around him like Hodge and Burgers

Not sure what other team balance we need NB?

We need a hard running half-forward type who can lead up the ground. In the past Willo played this role, and when he went out with an injury Dowler took over and the word is Morton is favoured for this spot in 2010. Suckling to me has to take the role of Birchall, Guerra, Ladson or Ellis and I don't rate him ahead of them.

NB, did Willo spend that much time leading up the ground?

I always felt he spent most of his time leading out of the goal square, trying to get the ball inside fifty to kick a goal or set-up a goal.

I know occasionally he was pushed up to the flank or wing, but that was more about our rotations and giving the mids 5 minutes off the ground for a rubdown, rather than anything else IMO.

I know Morton's been ear-marked as a lead up HFF, but he made no impression for mine there against the Tiger rabble, hence he ended up down back again towards the end of the game.

Even with guys like Young, Bateman, Buddy, etc all missing in round 1, I still can't find a reason why Morton would add something that we couldn't get in 22 others.

FB: Brown - Gilham - Guerra
HB: Ladson - Gibson - Birchall
Ce: Lewis - Shiels - Ellis
HF: Burgoyne - Roughead - Hodge
FF: Rioli - Dowler - Osborne

Ru: Taylor
RR: Sewell
Ro: Mitchell

I/C: Renouf, Schoenmakers, Suckling, Hooper.

Emerg: Skipper, Murphy, Lisle.

Geez i was expecting more from the Demons yesterday....

- Scully/Trengove were very raw. Great prospects sure, but half the player of Dustin Martin for example.
- Jurrah looked terrible.
- Sylvia is suppossed to be having a cracker pre-season but looked very average.

On top of this;

- Wonnaemirri and Bate will just be coming back from injuries and will be underdone.
- Garland hasn't had much of a preseason.
- Watts has quad problems.
- Bruce has hamstring problems.

I was thinking Melbourne would have some impact this year, but it won't be happening in round one thats for sure!

Really like this suggestion.........Big Rough CHF....Schoey from the sq could have to much toe on the lead and would surely at least produce a contest for the spillage, enter delicious and co. game over.

Buddy ruck rover round 2 due to the success!
