I have always believed our second half of the year will be better than the first half. Still do

It's great that you have that belief, but being better than 1 win isn't really a high bench mark. It also doesn't necessarily mean that we'll climb off the bottom.

Here's our remaining fixture:

Lions - Marvel
Dogs - Marvel
Dockers - Optus
Demons - MCG
Swans - SCG
Crows - MCG
Eagles - Marvel
Tigers - MCG
Saints - MCG
Cats - GMHBA

Which 3-4 of those are we winning?

Don’t know. That’s what’s exciting. I believe we can win every week.

It was a simple question not even directed towards you but thank you ever so much for your concern. Maybe if we can knock off the bombers this week you can stop being such a grump 👍🏼

Aint gunna happen

Our 2nd half of season games last year were worse than the front half (which were already bad).

Rounds 13, 16, 17, 18, 20 & 23 were absolute floggings.

On an aside, I wouldn’t group Thy into your cabal, he isn’t part of your propaganda, he’s just a lonely old man whose life has passed him by to the point where he has. I thing better to do with his time than sit on the internet being grump and yelling the internet form of ‘get off my lawn
Favouritism right there but have you got Artificial or Buffalo Thy?

Oh come off it arrow, you ask a poster to explain the position or the argument they have made, you ask questions and when they answer it you either ignore their answer and trot out the same excuse again and again, or say that you are getting of the merry go round.

It’s not an actual discussion when every concern that a poster has about the way we play or the losses we continue to have is met with ‘young team, it will come good in future’

You tried the same thing with HBF and he called out your ‘discussion style’ earlier

Bye

At least you are braver than your poster liking mates

McGovern is a very good footballer who is struggling with getting his body and mind right. He's been disappointing but I expect big things from he, McKay and Charlie up forward come 2020.
I could watch your Avatar on repeat. Love it

We're two games clear on the bottom 10 rounds in...

So to climb off that last position, we will most likely need to win 3 of the next 12 games and hope that one of Norf, Sydney or the Suns don't win another.

It's so unlikely to happen and if it doesn't, we will have "won" yet another wooden spoon.

Anyone who thinks this is not going to crush the confidence of the playing group, supporters, sponsors etc is kidding themselves.

Oh and the media will have a blast reminding everyone how we gave away our #1 pick in the process...
Giving away #1 pick??
We traded it for Stocker and a first round pick ffs..

Well one thing is for sure. I will still love Carlton tomorrow. I understand the frustrations of posters at the current … lets call it "situation". Not ideal, but not insurmountable. We have been coming from a long way back.

Had to trade out the few "market value/saleable" commodities we had to bring the list age back into a banding of 2-4 years apart so they can grow together.

Was always going to be a tough year. 10 rounds in … some are trying to jump off the bandwagon, fair enough I suppose, I can understand the concept of ranting and shouting at clouds for tumultuous change. Finger pointing and pitchfork riots ..... Coaches, board, umpires, AFL …..

We have been done this road before. Never ends well.

carlton2dabone I enjoy your passion. I understand your frustration. If you really think the "Clique" lol ….. Azza and Imperial Lather DO NOT bleed blue blood … you are sorely mistaken.

Chin up fellow, we will climb from the depths.

Gotta get this mob to 100 game together or there abouts to make a footy team.

THIS IS ONLY MY OPNION.

I’d put you in your place like I’ve done many times before, but you aren’t worth anymore suspensions, after all your seem to be a protected species
Protected species or endangered species

This is what I posted last week in List Management. How anyone can be expecting any more especially when we are trying to develop asap is beyond me.

Some facts about the players I think will be a big part of our future and are all 22 and under

Weitering - 65 games
Charlie - 53
SPS - 51
Silvagni - 48
Marchbank - 42
Fisher - 43
Kennedy - 31
Dow - 27
McKay - 24
LOB - 24
Garlett - 30
Cuningham - 20
Williamson - 17
Polson - 16
Macreadie - 9
Walsh - 9
Setterfield - 8
Stocker - 3
TDK - 2

Doesn't include

Gibbons - 23 years old and 9 games
Goddard - 22 & 10
Kerr - 20 & 4
Pickett 22 & 17

Newman has only 38 games, Lang 55, Phillips 39 and McGovern 56. Not exactly seasoned professionals.

Plus we have Finbar Cottrell LeBois Owies Schumacher BSOS that haven't even played yet

Our only genuine experience is Simpson Kruezer Murphy Thomas Curnow & Jones and most are past their best and aren't physical players anyway.
How many players do we have right in their prime? Cripps, maybe Jones, and Docherty who is injured.

Result, That is a ridiculously young and inexperienced list. No wonder we struggle to win games.

There is 13 games left this year. Even if they all played all the games for the rest of the year most will still be well under 50 games heading into 2020. Even if most play 15-20 games in 2020 we will still have several with less than 50 games. That's if things go well!

Makes it hard to play well consistently with so many so young. This will take time. It can't be rushed. I wish it could. Adding some mature quality players will help and a lot but until this young group ALL get to the 50 plus game mark we will really have a lot of ups and downs and will not be a finals side.

Just a bit of perspective based on facts.

PS Just to add a bit more. Geelong considered it's 1999 & 2001 drafts as the key to its success in later years. It's flags then came in 2007, 2009 & 2011 and they didn't do a full rebuild. They have been able to have sustained success which is our ultimate aim. In 2006 the media wanted Thompson gone as coach. He stayed and look what happened. Patience

Just thought I'd repost this really good summary and pertinent points - reality check. I might add that SOS stated in his famous interview - anyone can build a list for a shot at finals - Carlton is trying to build a list for sustainable success. The cost of this is inevitably a few years of looking pretty ordinary...so many examples to look at so people can understand why and how the better teams have built a more sustainable base.

Should never have got to be in a position requiring such radical surgery - but we are where we are because of where the Club allowed itself to get to.
