Review Rd 19 Review - Freo Dont Lose Against Richmond

We can still finish anywhere from 1st to 10th.
And if unlucky, could end 10th even if we win one more.
Guaranteed to be in the 8 if we win 2 of our next four (theoretically possible to end up 1st with 2 more wins, but not likely and no lower than 7th).
Thank you mate. I might have to crack out the old excel sheet!!

COME ON BOMBERS!!!!!

Serong and Brayshaw constantly sh*t the bed in front of goals
They need to improve in that sphere and I think they will

Serong full time midfield is not a good setup , this is why we need Jackson
If anyone remembers the draft write ups about Serong he was compared to Robbie Gray for his ability to play forward and midfield. I read a couple that said he could be a better forward than midfield at afl level. When he played in the forward line at the underage champs he was actually known for his marking. He also played mostly forward in his first half a dozen or so games at afl level and looked dangerous. I like him spending about 1/3 of his on ground time forward in 2023 and beyond.

Good call 👍

I didn't enter the match day thread. I find it distracting.

I honestly feel Freo have a case to lodge
Benny Gale tells the AFL what the rules are, not the other way round. We'd be wasting our time

I haven’t even watched the game yet and I’m someone that hates losing more than winning.

Better get on to it, I think I’ve watched every Freo game since 2018 so gotta keep the streak going.

His pre draft write up is worth zero now. He’s 3 years into his afl career- think we can judge him on that. And news flash- he is no Robby Grey in front of goals

With enough practice anyone can become lethal infront of goals. Seems like both AB and Serong need to work on it especially if AB wants a brownlow.

I remember reading pre draft write ups of Tom Swift of him as a cross between Judd and Wanganeen.

The only football similarity between Tom Swift, Waganeen and Judd is that they are all retired.
Lol. To be fair I remember one game of his where he looked like the complete package. But in the draft write ups there were always queries over his kicking and it turned out those were too large to overcome.

Always felt sorry for him for how he was treated by Eagles fans. Apparently we were into him pre-draft.

Geez. Pretty ridiculous point you've made. There are tons of players who change their positions over their career and plenty who dramatically improve their goal kicking too.

Controversial opinion but I don’t think we’ve necessarily been that much worse over the last month, rather opposition teams know we’re a top team and bring their best against us, which is a fantastic indictment for how far the we’ve come as a club this year.

Richmond brought the pressure all game and despite being lucky to bank the 2 points I still think we were the better team on the night. It felt like a final and we need to know what a final feels like if we‘re any chance of winning a flag.

Pumped for what we can do for a sustainable period over the next few years and think a home finals birth this year would be a massive achievement with bigger things to come.

Can someone explain to me what a draw actually means for our season? I suck at maths.

I get that percentage no longer matters but where does this even place us in context to the top 8? Seems as bad as a loss effectively.

Basically means that we're in a race with only Collingwood for 4th spot

I think he's decent enough in front of goal that he can go forward when we want Fyfe or Mundy in the middle.

Yeah he’s ok, and does have a goal of the year under his belt. Like Sherrif said, from the draft write ups he sounded like Toby Greene, and I don’t think he’ll ever be elite forward unfortunately

We had a good draw in first half of the season. In the back half its been much tougher. Been impressed by our overall performance this year even if its been a bit frustrating in some games.

He's 21 with 52 games under his belt, we haven't seen his ceiling yet.

Definitely feel that the more difficult fixture has been a factor in this second half of the season, we've gotten the easier teams out of the way and we're struggling against better teams. Still managed to knock off Melbourne, Geelong and Brisbane this year so it's not like we can't beat good teams.
