I'm with you here. I think it is time to refresh the time.

And it is not a 'rebuild' version of 'play the kids'. It is more the case that I don't see how the names you mention could be worse than half a dozen others out there at the moment. Best case scenario, they bring a new energy and we find some gems. Worst case scenario would probably just be a version of what we're already doing.

I’m all for playing youth but would you want to in this system?

Playing like this could easily ruin a lot of young players confidence and careers

We probably had the worst 5 players on the ground and still managed to hit the scoreboard the same amount of times the Hawks did. That is crazy considering one side is apparently coached by a dud and the other a super coach. (Which I somewhat agree with)
Yes we have a hell of a lot of issues but there’s a total exaggeration of how bad that performance was.

Watching at the ground we weren’t even close and lucky the scoreboard was that good. We have no run. Can’t land a kick or handball. Totally outmuscled and outplayed.

These close looking scorecards do us no favours. It is a total myth that we aren’t far off. If it was dry they would have towelled us up worse than Richmond.

The feeling by many members with us was weather kept us in it

Even with full on effort we felt like we were just hanging in there

I hate this

There will come a game soon most likely next week where we clearly will not be contending for the flag and if we don’t start playing the kids and getting a sniff of what we’ll be doing with the list than it’s damning.

Voss is deluded and if his merry bunch of yes men (at least Sayers is gone) that think he’s a coaches ahole can’t see what every footy watcher, footy expert and media clearly has seen for a number of years then they should just give it in immediately.

Can't take that attitude - may as well shut up the shop and hand back the license at that stage.

Play our most naturally skilled players and back them in to use their skills. Let them create and see what we have to work with, then build plays based on that.

The "system" we're lacking is a combination of movement ahead of the ball (seriously, it is diabolical how stagnant we are in this regard) and willingness to hit a short pass or put the ball to advantage in a 1v1. They're linked. Why would players work hard to provide options ahead of the ball when the guy with the ball doesn't trust himself to execute, and just dumps it on the biggest pack he can see? But when leads aren't being offered, why wouldn't the guy just play for territory? It's self-fulfilling.

Get Boyd, Wilson and Carroll into the backline. Get Moir and Lemmey/O'Keeffe into the forward mix. Get Williams up around the ball a bit more, tell Walsh to ****ing handball, give Ben Campo a run. Whatever is going on with Elijah, wrap our arms around him and do whatever it takes to get him back on the field.

System vs. Players is a real chicken/egg argument, you can want to bring kids into a good system, but you can also build your system around your skillset. The skillset we're putting on the park at the moment is repeatedly being found wanting. Change personnel, let them inform the system.

Scores of 69 and 60 highlight how impotent our forwardline is. Soft or unfit talls and zero smalls.

9 Goals 15 points and 8 Goals 12. Both games we generated enough scoring opportunities, even though it is not pretty to watch how we generate them, we generate them. This has been a problem for us for a while. 2 goals 8 after half time eventually takes its toll on the mindset of the hard work to get the ball there.

Do we have a kicking coach for goal and field play? I seriously doubt it, this is an easy fix, but obviously our coaching staff don't. Our forward entries have been terrible for years, has this been addressed? Not likely. We should have 4-6 options going forward but we don't.

Set shots from around 40m out which miss are momentum killers, especially when we work so hard to get the opportunity to score. This is an "easy" quick fix.

The umpires absolutely going off chops and losing the plot kept us in it too by keeping up stoppages. Hawks had plenty of run and if the game kept going.

Watch the highlights and see how many times there’s a free hawks player. Time after time.

Interesting watching the Hawks run last night.

When you see both sides just running we keep up.

It’s when they get the ball they all take off and get to positions. Ball user looks up and has options and uses them. They are drilled this way

Their team discipline is very impressive. We look like an amateur team from the 80s the last at we play. No system at all
This is spot on the Hawks spread and run from contest allows more efficient ball movement with players free in space. The Blues have no handball links out of pressure and no spread and run when we get possession. Therefore they have to opt to just kick long and often dump kick whilst under pressure. The game plan is based around contested possession and does not have a good balance of offensive spread and run.

I really don't understand comments like this. Sure everyone is frustrated but Hewett had 28 touches and 11 tackles. Hardly our worst, probably top 3 players for us tonight. That aside, take those 6 out of the team, who are you bringing in? Binns, moir, Wilson etc all untried and seemingly not ready for afl football. People suggest dropping players all the time but the reality is next in line is bleak - those players are not ready due to youth or injury and won't be an upgrade on 50% of the output of the guys you have listed. They struggle to perform consistently in the VFL, let alone what the would be able to do at AFL level.
Don’t think you read the post properly…

It wasn’t a call to drop them, it was the group blind bomb the ball and have been continually allowed to under Voss. So bombing the ball must be part of Voss game plan…

A lot of people criticise our forwards, particularly our smalls BUT I just wonder how good they would be if ball was delievered better?

Issue for me at the moment is we kick it in the same every time and the opposition are ready for it. We don't give them a chance. I reckon any small forward would struggle in our set up

I have said it for three years now. We don't get easy goals. Everything is an effort

He went to HB in 3rd quarter and then back in middle in last

6,8,3, and 11, I thought he was providing drive for us in the 1st half, 3rd qtr didn't see him but he did get a lot of it in the last but all in the back half so I felt he was just playing behind the ball.

He is wasted as a half back

WARNING very unpopular opinion incoming ..

Come end of the year we need to make some serious list changes to put us in contention/sure up our future.

Trade Charlie .. has to be one of the biggest flat track bullies to pull on the jumper. For the life of me I cannot understand the hype around this bloke. Doesn't chase, sooks it up and won 2 Coleman medals off the back of beating up ordinary sides like North and West Coast. Whilst there is still hype around him, get him off the books, pick up 2 first round picks and sure up the future.
Rough, clearly he was underdone. And you know what he did do all night, he took 2 to 3 defenders to the footy with him and split a lot of contests. Where are the rest of the forwards, why are they not an option when at every kick to Charlie they are a) not an option or b) not able to support the ground ball.

The pace of the final 9 games last season and first 2 games this season has left the club for dead.
