Voss surely must shake things up this week...The mid field needs a over haul...Rockliff, Rich, and Redden are slow damm lazy this season and shouldnt be taking 3 midfield roles...Rockliff and Rich should go forward and learn to present to create a option. Redden is woeful, and should be dropped. I would put Green in the middle, and bring back Banfield for some hussle. Get games into Karnezis, and Continue midfield action for Mayes

Yep, he is such a terrier and we could use his pressure round the ball. The role he is currently playing is a tough one for a young guy when our forward line has no structure to it...

pencil in wins against Melb and West Coast, seriously the way some of you are acting we will be out of the league within two years, a little confidence boost this week will do wonders, trust me

OK, I'm trusting you.

So if the unimaginable happens and we lose, I'm holding you personally responsible.;)

Vossy has said he will shake things up but I can just see him dropping the usual suspects like McKeever and Harwood when we really need to drop a bigger name just to get a reaction out of the senior players.

To the supporter it does seem like there are double standards applied to some players.

I get the feeling the coaches would rather play a Polkinghorne or a half fit Mcgrath this week than really give certain players an extended run.

Vossy has a habit of pencilling in some players who he believes are going to make it, and stubbornly persisting with them, forgiving some of the most terrible performances (Sheldon?) while giving them game after game. As a supporter I wish I understood the rationale because is very frustrating

Yep...and remember Collier getting game after games when it seemed clear he was never going to make it?

FB. Adcock Clarke Patfulll
HB. Rich Merret Docherty
C. Green Karnezis Zorko
HF. Mayes Lisle Paperone
FF. Banfield Brown Berwick
R. Rockcliff Luey Moloney

I/C. Yeo, Golby, Redden, Raines.

Sub. Longer

Ins: Banfield, Lisle, Yeo, Clarke, Karnezis

Out: Martin-omitted, Hanley-suspension McKeever-Omitted, Harwood-omitted, McGrath-injured

Main Points:
- Rich to half back to lose the bloody taggers and give us quality delivery and penetration out of our back line. The Doc and Rich would be awesome. This could become our launch pad.

- Let's get Clarke in. Surround him with old heads in Patfull and Adcock. Drop McKeever. Lets get a season under his belt.

- Green in the middle for pace, more skill and more "see ball get ball" attitude.

- Banfield moves into Greens old spot. Injects pace around Brown. This guy at his best is very damaging and at the least adds excitement. Cornelius could be a third tall instead but we'd have no forward pressure.

- S. Martin made no impact and Lisle can mark a ball a lot better. A step down in rucking, but a big step up in contested and lead up ball.

- Yeo has played some very good games in his short career. He just provides more upside than Harwood

- Black given another week in the reserves. I want him to be 100%.

Karnezis back in gives us more xfactor and run and carry through the centre. Awsome with green and zorks around him.

- Redden, Raines, Golby off the bench provides serious fire power where needed

- Longer as the sub. Replace Lisle at 3/4 time if Lisle is quiet or Luey needs a rest. Gives us something very different in the final quarter and allows him to run extra hard

Show them how to do it properly. No point in tanking the last few years - compromised drafts & all. But now, go for it. Greenie into the ruck, with Bergs as sub. Brownie to fullback. Niall Mac injto the middle. Everyone with more than 50 games to Mackay to promote Aussie Rules.

Demons by 19.

p.s. I am sure Eddie will authorise a priority pick 4 us.

He needs to drop Redden and Put Rich on warning

Redden has earned the right to find form in the seniors IMO. Even if he hadn't, I don't think his form warrants dropping anyway. He is still averaging nearly 8 tackles a game and I would find it hard to drop a player who maintains a high defensive standard even when he is in bad form. He's also had over 20 touches in the last two games. There are signs there that he's getting back to what he is capable of.

As for Rich, he holds himself to a high standard and would be really frustrated at his start to the year. Don't think he is the sort of bloke who would benefit from being dropped. He needs to keep working through and learn how to beat the tag.

These is a really important period in the football education of two key players... putting them in the remedial class as punishment won't get them back up to speed.

Bring Polks to the backline. I've always wondered why he's never been tried down there. Has all the tools: good decision maker, aerial skills and is good defensively.

was tried down there during the nab cup matches......some of them at least,

honestly what would happen if we beat melbourne? it won't change anything really, but if melbourne were to beat some sense into us, it might finally wake us up

sometimes you need to hit rock bottom to change

it might be twisted logic, but i would much rather us take 2 steps backwards before we move forward

Hope you don't mind the intrusion but be careful what you wish for. There's been a bit of that thinking among Melbourne fans in recent years and believe me, knowing where 'rock bottom' truly is, can be a lot, lot further down then you think. We thought it was 186, but while that sparked some changes, they weren't necessarily the right ones, nor significant enough changes, and the club is still trying to find its way out.
Also, judging by some of the worrying around here, you didn't watch all of Melbourne vs GWS. The Dee's were truly awful for some patches of the game and had it not been for that remarkable last term, and GWS being equally bad on occasion, we may not have pulled off a win. One exceptional quarter doesn't make up for a dozen abysmal ones. While I hope we play well (and at least have a shot at a win) I don't think you've got too much to worry about (although admittedly, I haven't seen any Brisbane games this year so don't know how well you guys are travelling).

As a Melbourne supporter the game on the weekend has really let me down. It was one thing in round 1 when I could pass it off as an aberration, but nothing so far this season is screaming improvement. To be honest I feel fairly ambivalent about whatever happens this Sunday. A win would be expected. What I would really like to see is a total and utter thumping, to see us get up by 100+ points and run out the entire 4 quarters without ever taking our foot off the pedal. The boys need confidence, but really a slight win over Melbourne is next to meaningless.

Lions by 116pts ;)

Ins: Black, Cornelius, Karnezis, Longer, Yeo & Justin Clarke.

Outs: Hanley (susp./inj.)
McGrath (inj.)
Harwood (Yeo is better option)
Raines (who's he going to tag, David Rodan?)
McKeever (really, AFL standard?...)
Martin (see above)
