As I said earlier, if his head wasn't on the job today, he shouldn't have umpired today. That simple. Sure I feel sorry for him, but that does not mean he is immune or should escape criticism. His biasness was laughable.
Well that's different to saying you have no sympathy for him.

What, for the criticism he so rightly deserves after that inept and bias performance.

Apologies if you interpreted my previous post as meaning I had no sympathy in respects to his brother. Poor choice of words on my part.:thumbsu:

Mayes is just classy. Given space he hits his targets, but picks the right ones. That pass to Brown was perfect, ignored the first two more obvious leading players and just put it into the gap. I had perfect view of what was ahead for him to kick to, and not even I saw that lead coming from my vantage point. Going to be a star.

the umpiring was fine IMO, a few didnt go our way and some calls were frustrating but it had no impact on the game. What is concerning is this - since when did we become undiciplined? we have given away at least 10 behind the play freekicks this year as a result from scuffles, off the ball incidents and the like and I feel almost none in our favor. everytime I see a small scuffle break out there is imediantly a whistle and it's a free kick againts, if our players think a jumper punch is tough, then maybe they should consider employing some pressure or laying a heavy tackle or going in on a contested ball insted??. That combined with 50's has led to 5+ goal againts, it's embarrassing. Zorko is becoming a serial offender. What has changed to make this ok? IMO it is symptomatic of cockynes and frustration and also shows the players are lacking respect for the coaches, can you imagine the swans or the cats being serial offenders like this? It is the trait of a bad team and it is becoming every week - 2 more players infront of the judge this week.

to the game, diserpointing. I was hoping we made a statement with our pressure and our general commitment to the contestants andbwe didn't. I was hoping we could use this game as catalyst for a change in attitude and confidence and we didn't. Same lack of pressure, same bad disposal, same undiciplined play, same inability to impact the score board and put them away. I'm being highly critical but I saw very little upside, I almost begrudge them singing the song knowing if this team rocks up againts Sydney next week we will lose by 80+ point. This is a team that has lost by 90+ points and only beat GWS for one 1/4 of the game last week.

Win is a win, still a long way off, we did t have the pressure we had from previous teams, but it was good to see some more movement, and lowering the eyes. Still bombed away a bit too much, but moving the ball even 20 meters creates space and makes defenders move, having some running overlap and someone breaking the lines does it even more.

It was a step forward, hopefully we can keep putting one foot in front of the other and build from this.

Doc does some very nice things as well. Limited opportunities thus far, he's cool under pressure is clean with disposal, provides some hurt factor with his kicks and makes terrific decisions.

Mayes reminds me of Lappin.

I'm all for demanding a certain level of performance and having strong expectations of my team, but geez I have no time for supporters who think that everything is impossibly shit and that being a Brisbane supporter is a cross they must bear like some martyr.

Ignore list FTW.

Moving on!

MacMum... Yeah, Browny is going to pay the price for the way he played the game. Even if he retired today.

Love that man. He would not want anyone feeling sorry for him and he is going to want to go down swinging like the heavyweight he is. I'll cheer the magnificent bastard on till the bitter end, which I suspect will be the final round of 2013.

I don't think I can recall a game where I have seen so frequently, defenders in their own forward 50. Yeo and Golby up forward so often and Rog frequently forward of centre. I think Joel must have looked after the backline alone. Not a criticism, just thought it weird. We won't get away with that against another team.

Not worth banging on about the umpires today. Don't care how long you've watched footy, you'll never understand how the rules are applied. It is luck of the draw as to what constitute holding and incorrect disposal.

Good to have a win but it really stood out today how many youngsters we are playing.
Whatever Voss and Brown said to the senior guys after last week seemed to do the trick. They all stood out as senior players today. Not faultless, but definately levels above our juniors and 90% of the Dees.:thumbsu:
