And yes keston i think broadford is coming hard they have just rolled into north melborne station and waiting for a clear track! Its theres to lose now i think, they have the youth the speed all they need now is a little bit of belief!

I agree ease up. Rock bank may have lost by a big margin today but they were fantastic. They all stayed back for a beer and I see a bright future ahead for them. your Wallan boys won a tight contest today also from what I hear.

Thats why your the coach and keston your not

Hey guys..
I know this isn't the right channel to bring this issue up in .. but maybe doing so more of a discussion basis.. but I've noticed in a number of games this year that the attitude from some in the coaches box and watching on the fence towards some of our young umpires, particularly boundary, at times hasn't been too flash..
As I umpire the 18.5s in the field, I get the great pleasure of working with some of the great young and aspiring umpires of the future.. who are under the age of 17.. and definitely younger than anyone in the box and on the field..
But I've noticed there has been a lot of negative responses in patches directed at them, with a blatant disregard of their age..
As an older umpire, I really feel for these kids.. our game yesterday was played at a frantic pace, and I was with two young stars (for unforeseen circumstances, the third one was unavailable and would have made a big difference) who busted their guts and tried their best, but not always to a good response.
Numbers in this age group of those going on and officiating for a long time in our competition isn't high, the drop-offs, alarming.. but some matches with the abuse coming from on the other side of the boundary isn't flash.. I don't know whether club members get caught up in the game too much to acknowledge them, but when I have a 15-year-old girl or a 13 year-old boy on our panel and they are getting heavily whacked verbally, my personal tolerance (I'm a tolerant person at the best of times) goes straight out the window.. and it leaves me thinking that many of those on the sidelines (abusing or not) are parents who have kids at these ages and I wonder how they would feel if that abuse was thrown at their child?
I'm no parent, but I bloody love it when these young kids get out there and give it a crack.. they love the game and it's a timely reminder of how some of us grew up at their age loving the game..
As I said, this isn't the right channel, but I wanted to at least throw it out there.. this doesn't extend to boundaries either.. but goals and field..
Happy Sunday guys!

Well said Chris yes I agree if that was our kids copping that abuse it could get ugly there are many on this site that can influence others attitudes and believe you putting this on this forum is not a issue and hope we can help by not tolerating or being a part of the abuse and educating others .
Generally the crowd and bench of the side not winning abuse the decisions made and that abuse doesn't bring them any favours
Perhaps the instigation of the 50 meter abuse rule used a little more might curb the issue or for serial pest there bench area video for a month and played back to them with these kids present may make them think twice
The passion of the contest at times overwhelms people and a lot of these abuses are generally good people who get carried away if they saw there behaviour perhaps it might change them just a thought ...

Well, Romsey will be kicking themselves tonight. Some horrendous shots on goal today cost them big time today. Having said that, I thought we showed some great fight after being down to two on the bench for the last 1/4. 3 wins for the club on the day.

Have to say I'm enjoying the picturesque venues in the RDFL. Another really nice venue in country Victoria.
On another subject looking forward to catching up to nugget and a few of the craigieburn boys this week should be a top game of football as wallan always play well on their home ground.

Seriously some people have no life , for gods sake there is no need to respond to every bloody post , 750 odd posts in 2 years is pathetic get a bloody life , it's a post a day every day for over two years lol

Boys are all playing well and enjoying it. Nugget reminds me of juniors old coach at EDS who got his message across in pretty much the same way, although (understandably) he went off a bit on saturday afternoon. Has done well and playing well for good measure.

The next 2 weeks are huge.

Thanks mate.. you make some bloody good points.
You and many people who go to the football.. coach a team, run out water, on the committee.. have a club membership etc, have kids.. as a parent, how would you react when you see a mob of people yelling abuse at your child, who may be under the age of 18 who is having a crack at umpiring? Who could imagine themselves abusing these kids? Some who are younger than every player on the ground playing in that game? It happens every week..
If I was a parent, observing this behaviour, my reaction would be to go to the president, identify member/s where it is from and get that club to do something about it ..
Umpire abuse is bad enough as it is .. and maybe I'm out of line in harping on about it .. but when it come to kids, you've got to encourage them.. how many kids are we losing from footy from 16s to 18s? The same thing happens with umpires.. we don't have 20 or 30 umpires who started officiating when they were 14 or 15 and are now into their 20s.. the drop off in numbers are scary and there was once upon a time where clubs used to hate having club boundaries, or no boundaries.. or lack of umpires in a match in any position..
Some might think that kids just need a bit of that to harden up.. but who wants to run out every week and get abused for being involved in footy?
Umpires get paid to do it.. don't players do too? Have some thought that one of the key reasons to offer match payments to umpires is to provide an incentive .. how many umpires would officiate for free to get whacked all the time verbally? Would you do that if you were playing footy.. play for free and get abused?
Sorry guys..

I like it mate, but when you say "If I was a parent etc, my reaction would be to go to the president" ..... I would too, but sadly some environments are still quite toxic to anyone who steps off the company line, or even bordering on the big brave group mentality towards anyone who does.

Sometimes it's easier to remove yourself from an environment you're not comfortable in rather than speak up and cop crap for it.

Apparently the league have made a change to the fixture?? Sunbury diggers this weekend is the rumour?? Could be 100+ with Sunbury having a 6 day turn around & also most of the boys have planned a trip away

Hearing Ellard from SK is off to Werribee VFL for the remainder of the year. Nothing clearance wise on the league website. Is it possible to play on permits post June 30 at that level or has my source been on the sauce ?

Dean Helmers should be a priority for Centrals Coach 2017. If the best coach in recent history is available we should be pro active in sourcing him out ?
Why would he go to Melton seriously. After the sorry couple of stories that he's had to deal with this year with Melton.

Huge news at broadford today with the The signing of master coach skip bray and 2 time undefeated premiership coach dean Burke for 2017.

Good news for the club. Didnt you announce Burke a few weeks ago on here, only for it to disappear? Did you go a little early with it?

If you've got the time Deano, go up a grade and have a go at a higher level

Be very surprised if neighbouring clubs from better standards of footy arent already circling ;)

Why would you be concerned about this?
And what do you mean "we"?

According to a previous post you are never paying membership or helping the club out again!
This is funny of course he has .......

I thought helmers signed on at Broadford this year with the view of becoming sole coach in 2017
