The kangas must have plenty of cash, Farmer is asking a big price.
Should be an entertaining match against Romsey if Farmer does end up playing for the kangas
Hmmmmmm, y's that did he leave on bad terms? I think if he does end up at kangas they may push for top 3. Sounds like kangas are throwing a fair wack of coin about!

Went pretty well. I had big expectations of him after trying to get him to my club. I think his commitment dropped away slightly being a travelling player. If he said that he wanted to come to my team tomorrow I'd take him in a heartbeat[/QUO

Can play, every club would love him running around in there colours. Should be an interesting season.

The kangas have lost a couple that will free up some money as well.

Macedon are sneaking under the radar again I think. There last three years recruiting has been huge and very underrated. They should be commended for bringing so much talent into the league. Look at this list of players.

2015
Marcus Kenny- EDFL leading goalkicker
Teghan Henderson- Former VFL and WRFL gun key back
Damian Fitzpatrick- WRFL Div 1 gun key back
Shaun Harrison- Ex VFL and Deer Park. Wouldn't be out of place among the better midfielders in Metro Vic leagues.

2016
Tom Waters- Bendigo league gun and VCFL representative
Matt Knox- Gisborne lead goalkicker
Casey Summerfield- Gisborne captain
Aaron Christiansen- Struggled a little but had a great year in VFL at Coburg in 2015. Played the full year in the 1s at VFL so a quality player.
Daniel Markworth- Stkilda listed, first round draft pick.
Al Collins- Returning junior and a more than solid wingmen.
Patrick Fitzgerald- Gisborne young gun before he took a year off.
Jason Cooke- Gun junior and EDFL premier division player

2017
Matthew Dick- Carlton listed and gun VFL player this year.
Errol McConnell- VFL listed young gun.
Chris Kilmartin- One of the best players in the KDFL
Jonathan Barnett- Has kicked bags of goals in Goulburn Valley League in the past.

On top of this they have also cleared a couple of other gun players in who did not end up playing a game. Of all the guys listed only Kenny has stopped playing. If Macedon get a good run with injuries then they are in for a great season in my opinion.

Absolutely agree with this, the Cats had a rough run with injury last year, so if they can keep their teams on the park, they will be right in the mix, Grand Finalists at the least.

How many did Kenny kick last year

Get a clear run at it injury wise come August/September (unlike 2016) and the Cats should be right in if

Got robbed in the first final in 2016 playing Riddell at Riddell . Would have given it a big shake had they won that game . In saying that it was a fiercely contested game of a high standard with 2 totally contrasting game plans which made it a great spectacle especially with the pumped up Riddell crowd. Macedon certainly have the game plan to be a contender in 2017 now it seems they have recruited the missing pieces of the jigsaw !

Thought Macedon played well that day but don't think you can say they were robbed. Had their chances to take it and didn't with some poor conversion. Two really poor defensive match ups gave Riddell the majority of their score too. Clearly the best final Macedon have played in a long time though.

I think it was poorly scheduled by the league they got it wrong. The Diggers v Broadford should have been at Riddell on the Sunday and the Macedon v Riddell should have played at Rockbank on the Saturday when you consider both Riddell sides 1st and 2s were playing with a home ground advantage from my recollection ? I think the higher placed 2 sides had earned the right to play at the best venue and Macedon v Riddell at a neutral venue ?

Probably a fair call but the days would have to have been swapped around. Bit of merit in that though I concede.

That's true, but I don't think they were robbed. That is the way the finals have played out for several years now, it's just the way it fell. Lucky for Riddell, although I don't think that home ground advantage plays a part at the better venues anyway.

Due to a late change .. both finals were scheduled to be on the Saturday due to the Sunday Junior Gfs.. it worked out well for the Seniors anyway that we had six games across two different days ..
For mine, Riddell v Macedon was the game of the year.. which is rough considering that the Seniors went to extra-time .. just something special about that day at Riddell..

Chris , now that you are on the payroll of the league, are you answer whether there are any plans to replace the current shorts with some up to date models like most of the rest of the country have done in local and country competitions.

I know I will get smashed as many will say there are plenty of other things that require fixing/correcting in our league, however considering the comp is attracting some quality players and coaches why wouldn't the league be looking into such a change?

First time I've heard this one, what's the issue with the shorts?

I'm not on the payroll yet my friend.. but this is the first I've heard of it too.. and the only attention I've ever paid in the shorts is the ones I put on while umpiring and the colour of the two teams while umpiring..

Couple of mates come to the GF last year and still laugh at the iron on logos. Most clubs work hard on their merchandise and the short simply suck. They are missing a good sponsorship opportunity.

Couldnt agree more mate. They look so unprofessional, to me it makes a massive deal. You have a look at gisborne or sunbury there kits look alot better than at half time go watch there next door neighbors riddell and rupo and you certainly see the difference. Its something that has grinded my gears for years and i cant belive it hasnt been changed. I have also seen people from other leagues laugh at the rdfl shorts compared to other leagues it needs fixing now
