Think clubs should communicate with those that run leagues and get the correct feed back or they may end up with more than egg on there face..
Remember clubs are not for profit and those at the top are liable
Also players contracts from what was sent out of read correctly have to go through the league I stand corrected ....

Yep I have read the law book & you are correct in everything you have stated, but there are ways around it & whilst the laws may not be broken, they will be severely BENT! your mob will have to list manage better than anyone with the players you are recruiting for next season & I say good luck to them for turning the place around!

I'm an advocate for players asking for money "but" try and keep close to your market value, as by asking for big dollars it leads to big expectations which you need to play to, as well as being "fully" committed and helping out where needed..

From what I've heard Maceson are paying all 3 fellas from Gisborne 1200 plus. Just hope they don't go belly up like they did 15 years ago when they did this.

i heard today that its the same coach that caused there last bankruptcy? ????,, DId andrews coach macedon in yesteryear? If so he will likely chase a cup befor the cap comes in. We arent paying the gisborne players anything like that at riddell

Guys this is totally false. Joffa did coach the club in the late 90s but he was definitely not responsible for them going bankrupt. The administration that took over after he left buggered it up.
 
Have we got any numbers for first week of preseason how are your clubs tracking? :footy:

The coach doesn't send a club broke, bad management does & a lack of local support, Goffa left the club & coached at a very high level, it is easy to point the finger at the coach but finances is not his department.

The darndest thing about these forums is, people actually believe they can say whatever they like without some form of moderation. Sure they can put up silly avatars and change their occupation, but usually after a couple of days off and a thread ban they come around and realise the only person who loses out is themselves. Personally I'd rather we all just got along and since I'm going to be posting in the RDFL section I hope others do too. :)

Joffa had nothing to do with Macedon folding 15 yrs ago
I've heard the same about there new player payments it's outrages
Would be hard for a player that has been there for a number of yrs let's say a Nipper who would be no way getting paid as much as them, and I tell ya now he would have just as much impact on a game as them.
You might say it's not like that but deep down playing next to a player who's on triple your money and you do just as much burns away at ya let me tell ya.

Your spot on rose tatto there are little men on these sights that take a swipe and either hide from the real truth or are the problem hang tight Joffa been there done that ...
As for what I've said in past posts there are many rock stars that over price and over promise in all leagues and most local products are shafted
Set a pay rate with reviews twice a year say $750. $500 $250 $150
If you set the bar also the requirements around the club ie functions etc and it's met you stay at the rate or increase
if you don't then you drop a rung guarantee you more commitment
And more value for the $$$$
It all comes down to structure leadership and players commitment

Ive been thinking about this for days, now I not saying the ATO aren't involved. However why would they get into local footy? AFL and state leagues, like the VFL have to report to the ATO, because their players are employees, they also pay work cover, super and probably even payroll tax, as well as GST FBT, or are they exempt from FBT, (Shit there are heaps of taxes).

I'm going on a limb here I would think 90% of players in all clubs and comps get less than $300 and I think if you are on less than $300 you don't profit from football, and most of the money they make is put back in to the club they are members of, so why would the ATO make it harder for the community and go after clubs, I think if anything they will only go after individuals.

90% is no ware near the percentage let me say and some clubs in different leagues pay up to ad over 350 k for players a year it's highly advertised even by the individuals being paid
LETS SEE what happens point system firstly then the cap will be interesting to see if afl vic are fairdinkum or made to look like joe the goose

Had some faith in the points system till the powers that b gave compensation/point deductions for this years players to some leagues.

A number of leagues are doing it. Each areas governing body, goldfields in our case was allowed to make the decision for a one off season where player point deductions would be two points. Goldfields chose not to use this. I believe the EDFL thought they had clubs that were too far over the points limit. They think they had no choice.

There's always a choice, turning a blind eye the first season of inception is the easy way out
