Was told by a person today league costs per club are around $25000.If so is that for juniors and seniors combined?Any of you more knowledgeable people able to tell me if true?If not what is the figure and what do clubs get for the $$$$.I know umpires and footballs are essential costs but what else?

Also with Afl Goldfields is any money going to them?If so what for?On top of affiliation fees the league also gets the finals series gate$$$$$.How much $$$ did this years combined gate add up to?Is the league in a good financial position? Are all these figures available to anyone via an annual report or is this info kept in house?I know I have asked a few questions but if any of you are able to answer any of them I would appreciate it.

Hey my mate just trained at Centrals Monday night there were 63blokes on track 15under 18s they all looked real good skill wise a lot off ball work little running great club rooms this club is on its way up .

Just heard keston . Are U still there ?
So everything's a fall out let's end the possible crap your angling at again having a break at this moment haven't decided if I will go around again to let you know has nothing to do with club especially after our last seasons effort
But If you must know I am spending time with family 6 kids wife and a dog
new job commitments and a very sick family member
so what ever you have herd is scuttlebutt
But reckon will still be involved in one way or another :)
Hope this doesn't disappoint you....

No wonder Diggers Rest wanted the extra points a couple of big recruits Taylor Hine being one if my information is correct
Reading today Williams is trying himself at a higher level again and Tuckey, Harvey, Smales are fairly unlikely.
Macedon and Riddell have raised the bar from 2015 with their recruiting.

I suspect, the $25,000k is made up of insurance costs, umpires match day fees, player registration fees, footballs, jumpers, shorts socks, medical tape, affiliation fees, fines, event tickets like presentation night etc. My understanding is most leagues pass on these expenses to the clubs. I think what is in dispute is clubs say its expensive to be part of the league and the league says our fees are small you just have to pay as you go for the things you need or buy.

Does that make sense? I would have thought AFL Goldfields may give RDFL some money for coaching and club programs. And as already said RDFL AGM financials will outline income and expenses but I doubt it will show what clubs pays what. Hope this helps or anyone else could further clarify!

That's great for Melton and shows they have some committed players but I'm not sure why clubs obsess over the numbers pre Christmas.

Harvey played in twos gf, Williams a loss no doubt, not sure on the info you got there on the rest. I was told the rest of the list outside smith who may return to the edfl. had committed. Lenny Clarke likely to return and once recruits announced it will,be clear What comes in the front door is far better than what is going out the back, twos undefeated until gf day and unders played finals, not going anywhere diggers. Just need a rethink on best way of winning it once there !

Macedon is the mover. Lost nothing of note yet and gained plenty! Still long long way to go I was also told by one club insider that there is some player losses at the big clubs yet to be confirmed to the clubs themselves.

I would think that $25K would be the outlay of a senior club. The RDFL made a profit last year and there is talk that there would be a small reduction this year.
Close to 30 k last year includes umpires insurance league fees
Footballs not socks shorts medical or jumpers they are additional cost
Also fines on top of that

How would the posters on here feel about Gisborne returning to the RDFL? Heard tonight that there is a massive push for it from key people at Gisborne and it may even have been discussed at their AGM.

I think a tick over your figure would be senior, and not that much below for some juniors (based on amount of teams). One would assume a portion would go to Goldfields as 2-3 years ago the administration of the comp was outsourced and I think were to liase with the RDFL board.

Fast forward to now and one must ask the actual function of a board in our situation? My interpretation would be they (and the administrators) work on behalf of the key stakeholders (the fee paying clubs) but I reckon the goalposts have shifted and now the board at times gets told how it's gunna be.

I could be off the mark ..... to be honest I truly hope I am, just my read on it.

Dont like it at all. I reckon its a big cop out for clubs such as sunbury and gisborne wanting to come back to rdfl. Just because gisborne are struggling at the current time does not mean they should throw in the towel and move back to a district league. They are a strong powerful club in the bfl which is stronger than the rdfl. Its a district league for a reason, towns are roughly the same size. It would go back to the dark times letting in BIG clubs into a district league

Gisborne as a town needs to spawn a second club. Keep the bulldogs in a strong comp, BFL, EDFL etc and have Gisborne newbies in RDFL. This works in other places, such as Colac, which has a team in the GFL and two teams in the CDFNL.

If Gisborne join as they are, it really takes a lot of incentive away from other teams. Currently any team can be premiers if they put in the hard work over a period of time. If Gisborne join, it will be a matter of whether Gisborne decide to turn up or not in deciding that year's premiers.

I am told that this has been suggested to Gisborne by the league that they start a new junior club in the town to cater for the growing numbers.

Just curious as to what the factual costs are and what they represent as the figure I was told has me gobsmacked.League seems to be sucking lots of $$$$ out of clubs and I cant see any bang for the hard earned buck.Years ago all roles where voluntary now I presume more than one is on the payroll? Also whats the role of Goldfields?Cant see any improvements they have brought to the Rdfl.I think any follower of the Rdfl has the right to know all questions dont you think?

It hasn't so much been suggested as been told. Gisborne (and Rupo) now have a cap of 60 players per age group. They wont be forced to shed any existing players but effectively wont be able to take any new players either. New Gisborne is starting up but I think will only operate at Auskick level this year. As the years go by those players will filter into new age groups until eventually they have teams at every level. Pretty much what Eynesbury are doing now. I can't see this leading into a new senior club though.

My mail is Rupertswood can expect to roll into 2016 without several key players, a big forward and key midfielder ( may have been joint captains several years ago ? )
