Yeah I heard he hardly ever trained, would he just be chasing the $$?? Yeah hopefully Kilmore cam replace those blokes that have left

I know he wanted some coin last year but he wasn't asking anything stupid but no point asking for money and not committing

Why else do blokes go to Bonnie Doon other than $$$, they've made a habit of paying footballers with little on their resumes "overs" for a while now. Not the clubs fault or the players to be honest, geographically they need to do it to survive and they're always far away that training don't have to even enter the equation.

I woulda been happy to throw him in my car, I actually like the kid

Did you approach him Doona?

I was up at kilmores training last week an saw a bloke running around in a bonnie doon singlet who would have that been would anyone know?

Made mention casually quite a lot as he wasn't sure if he was gunna play, but he never drove a conversation after that asking anything about Yea so I think he was just being nice each time in my company.
I hope he does well as Ive said again I really like the kid. Just hope each time he drives thru Yea for what is his closest trek (a Doon home game) he realises the km's involved ha ha. Don't worry I woulda loved J-Col and Shags but it wasn't to be and anyway Im sure you lads will have a lot of fun

I've never kissed arse of pumped up tyres, I'll work with whoever comes in the gate off their accord and that will never change. Its cost me and my clubs plenty of players but far too many mobs happy to offer coin on a phone call or sight unseen but when it aint my money its a practice that can be kept by those more astute coz I don't want a bar of it.

Bonnie Doon singlet has to be your mate Robbie Rowe. Another young bloke I actually like but for some reason wont play at Kilmore, personally I don't get it but whatever floats your boat ;)

About

Lets get some facts in order .Centrals are working within a budget which would be half of what the power clubs (Diggers, Romsey, Riddell) have available. To be competitive within that budget a plan was formulated to (refresh) the club list , pick up some new recruits but most of all develop the youth within the club with a long term view of success and sustainability . Another priority was to get the best qualified and most experienced coach available to bring that success to the club and that was achieved with the appointment of Fitzy no one could disagree with that. The club has had big numbers on the track all pre season and is certainly heading in the right direction with some great new sponsors being announced (TABCORP Park, Hogs Breath Café, Micks Gym) . The committee has some exciting new idea,s with the shorts sponsor raffle and other new functions being planned throughout the year. Exciting times for the future for all Centurions.

Just seen an article linked on twitter saying Centrals are celebrating 20 years, congrats on that but I cant but feel that the club has seriously under achieved, they have never been a serious challenger for a flag in that time and just seem happy being the club that blokes play for when they no longer want to put in the full commitment of Bloods/south require.

Saying you are working with half the budget is more a reflection of leadership at the top, given Meltons massive population and the amount of local businesses in the area you would think Centrals should be at the top end of spenders in the comp, even with the Bloods and South competing for yhe local dollar there should be plenty to share around.

Woodend have the toughest draw will need to recruit heavy to be competitive was wondering Who has woodend recruited ?

Have recruited 6-8 very good players. Still don't have the depth but will win a lot more games this year and will be one of toughest midfield in Comp.

Bit tough i think , how long did it take Sunbury Kangaroos to win a senior flag ? I would say at least 20 years and they are doing well now. I think we understimate what it takes to build a fabric to a club and how long that takes , yes money can help you top up but its about the generations of families that come through a club and not just footballers but also committee people , netballers etc. Maybe im just an old romantic , i just find the talk about who is spending what on these threads frustrating because behind all those clubs is a history of people who have been there through good and bad. Which gets back to my point about it all takes time and you should never underestimate your club and the journey its been on and where it will take it in the future. Sorry probably a bit serious but just wanted to express an opinion

In regarding to Melton . They should of asked for a easy draw like broadford .

Must admit I hadnt looked at a fixture til Monday but a guy at work boastfully said "geez the rdfl really sucked up our A$$ after the KDFL thing"

Romsey, Riddell, Diggers, Rupo (all at Nagambie Rock Oval) plus Sunbury & Macedon just the once, must be a typo coz it says Wallan 3 times so Im assuming its Kilmore. That would mean Wallan, Kilmore, Rockbank, Lancefield twice so if they don't make finals this year it could be a real opportunity lost.

The people that run Centrals are fantastic and have the club in a very good position to capitalise in the next few years. Building a solid base to launch from. I think the criticism is very harsh.

I actually don't think their budget is that far off. Unfortunately they have had to pay some ordinary players overs in the past but with no junior structure to start with that was a necessity. Now that they have done a great job fixing that they will be able to change that balance. Instead of paying bloods or South 2s players they will be able to give those spots to kids and pool that money to get bigger name recruits.

I should add that it's a great club to be around too. Always stay for a drink and always a good atmosphere.

I'm curious as to what the top clubs think about the lop sided draw? Probably great financially but could come back to bite if one of the bottom sides goes on a recruiting spree one year.

Should the bottom sides cop an onfield hit and ask to play more top sides? Bigger crowds = more income.

Bit harsh on centrals, football isn't as strong in Melton as some may think, socio-economic factors play a big role so the population base doesn't equate to massive player numbers. Yes they had some good junior results last year but not consistantly as good as the lions and rupo output.

Think you will find that when bottom sides play top sides crowds are down as it is generally a flogging and less $$$$ generated where is if bottom sides play each other and if some are going well the income is better
Also as does the afl there draw is partially based on ladder position from year prior
Still believe we talk about evening things up well the draw plays a big part and if you make the top six you should expect to play the sides around you twice the following year
Life isn't fair Keston! Suck it up and stop banging on about equalization strategies. Keep working hard and your turn will come. Your much anticipated points system will come in soon but if you are relying on that to play finals you are kidding yourself. As long as we play in a 13 team comp the fixture will have issues. If you want to be the best you have to beat the best regardless of how many times you play them.

I agree that all 3 of the Melton sides have underachieved since Bloods last flag, I would say it is more just a culture of accepting mediocrity rather than having anything to do with socio-economic issues. Compared to Sunbury Melton would be very comparable, just Melton has twice the population.

A quick look at each clubs website and Bloods in particular is amateur hour and there sponsor list is disgraceful, why would a sponsor want to get on board if this is how they are going to be represented.
http://www.foxsportspulse.com/club_info.cgi?c=0-6145-80345-0-0&sID=163319

Melton South only slightly better however with very few sponsors on board
http://www.foxsportspulse.com/club_info.cgi?c=0-6145-80346-0-0&sID=122214

Centrals actually have a very slick website and appear to be streaks ahead of the more profile Melton sides
http://www.meltoncentralfnc.com.au/partners/partners

But if you are a South/Bloods fan who is whingeing about not having the cash that Darley have, take a look at there website http://www.darleyfnc.com.au/sponsors1.html almost all of the sponsors listed are local businesses. Perhaps they can learn and make themselves more involved in the community and make the businesses want to be part of the club

I know alot othis is BFL, but the issue to me as someone who grew up in Melton is more just about chronic underachieving amongst the Melton clubs.. although by the looks of it centrals may just be on the right track.

Your opinion so it's like saying no pun at romsey but they played every week last year the side coming of the bye and the coaches believed it was a benefit the draw will never be fair as long as clubs get a fair go over a five year period or it is adopted that top sides play twice bottom twice etc from year prior etc

Like heck it was a benefit......... having a team fresh off a bye every week was unfair on romsey to be honest......

but u could learn a lot from romseys attitude towards last years draw keston.

We accepted the draw and just got on with it

we all know broadford negotiated a piss easy draw with the rdfl for u to stay. Infact u told me that. Id rather play all the best sides and lose admirably. Because finals seperates the men from the boys anyway. Pointless making finals by deception and getting humiliated.

broadford have recruited shitloads again this year and as u put it an easy draw should see u top 3......

do u actually realise the pressure u keep constantly putting on skip and the broadford players?
