I'll second that champ :thumbsu:

That venue lends itself to quallity Footy Standard............. Full Stop !

Thought I would drop in for a short visit. The RDFL have made a major stuff up! There is no doubt Macedon is the best ground in competition in just about every area and the scenery isn't too bad either. If the RDFL is trying to showcase football (the last two Prelim Finals have been far superior to any other finals day) they have a very funny way of doing it. The decision makers have lost the plot! A very sad day for the RDFL!!!

I was talking to someone at the Sunbury/Woodend game about the finals system, especially the double header at Macpherson Park. We thought it was a fantastic idea, will create a wonderful atmosphere... Carnival type of atmosphere. Little bit confused about when the actual games will be played but...

Then I spoke to someone at work who told me that Centrals will be running the canteen and bar at their ground and Melton Bloods will be running the other canteen and bar on the main ground. If this is the case then I must admit the league has made the wrong decision and rubbed cow pats into the faces of other RDFL teams!! What an absolute disgrace that a wealthy club like Bloods making money off an RDFL final!! A club that deserted the RDFL when all looked bleak! Why didn't the league ask Rockbank to run it or get Centrals to run the whole day? I can tell you why and it has nothing to do with the number of volunteers. I'm sure you all now where I'm heading with this. Macedon would be spewing.

Rumour has it that the Bloods wouldn't allow Centrals or the league use their rooms or facilities unless they were able to run the day! Maybe this explains why Centrals used their own rooms when playing on the number one oval! They don't own the clubrooms, it's a council facility!! Maybe George can enlighten us with that one?? My annoyance at this whole saga is how does a club outside the league able to benefit financially from OUR league final??? Maybe Matt Nicholls was right in the record... The RDFL is on the up boys and the big wigs are getting jealous! They're just trying to cash in. Don't let em! It would be like Gisborne taking a final off Riddell and making all the cash, what an absolute disgrace!

So when I head to the biggest blockbuster day this league will experience before the main dance, I'm going to support the RDFL club that is running the day. I'm going to buy my five hotdogs and all my green tinnies from George's boys, Centrals! I'm going to buy my kids a pie and a coke each from the volunteers that have supported the RDFL club all year. I'm not buying a single thing from the Bloods. I'm going to boycott all food and beverage stands that the Bloods are running and I hope all from Bigfooty and their clubs do too!

I've been a huge fan of Scott and his leadership but I must admit this decision is an absolute farce! Keep supporting the RDFL boys because this league is going places!

I'de like to whole heartedly Endorse Huchies sentiments here if those are the facts.

:eek: thought this thread got a little boring! I too will endorse Hutchies comments... i haven't heard anything from the league nor the committee about the upcoming double header. To be honest, i don't think the club has been officially notified of the final. i wish i could comment about the Bloods scenario... i'll find out more tomorrow but if it is the case then ill be very dirty on the league and the council! but i must admit im not surprised!

I DID, I DID, But it wasn't Romsey I thought they would get up against..... So I think they will win another one too before the season is out !
Bet some piss got sunk in the old Caravan Park last night.
Well done RAMS, keep the faith. :thumbsu:

Chieftont oh Chieftont how WRONG you was !

No credit where credit is due- I hear the Rams spent the night celebrating with friends and family and sang the bars off Barwon Prison. Well done Rockbank now you have a win and a caravan park- things are on the up. Who knows next year you might be able to aim for a footballer with his original teeth.

it was/is my belief that it will be the bloods juniors who will be hosting the day and they are still part of the rdfl

Exactly what i was going to say. damn you beat me too it.
Still a senior final should be hosted by one of the senior clubs, how would the junior clubs like Darley, Melton, Melton Sth, Gisborne and Sunbury lions feel if our senior clubs were to host a junior final.I'm sure they would not be happy to see their money going towards senior clubs.

HOW THE RDFL COULD HAVE GIVEN MACEDON A FINAL . . .

Give them Woodend's or Kilmore's final (both terrible grounds for finals), and play a NETBALL double header at the other venue in the second week of the finals.

I like the Maccy Park idea, regardless of who is making cash from it, but the RDFL honchos have got it all wrong by leaving the Cats out to dry.

For a club that has spent more money than any other in the RDFL in recent times, you would think the league would try and reward them by giving them a final to get some of their cash back!

Teddy isn't happy

As previously posted on this thread and as posted on the official RDFL website the finals system is

Cheers
:);)

A picture tells a thousand words. It is the same as the BFL. If third are strong they are a real chance to play in the Grand Final. A win in week one gets them the double chance and 2 shots at going into the grand final.

Perhaps the Cats playing surface is not considered to be up to standard?? I have heard comments that 'it is under water' although I have also heard comments that it is not as bad as it looks once you get out there.
I am pretty sure the RDFL board and decision makers agree with most of the comments about Macedon being the best ground but situations and circumstances do not always match.
Personally I look forward to the Macedon final every year but ....'we can't always get what we want'.

how could the rdfl not give the preliminary final to macedon????
i was there two years ago and was one of many who helped drink that bar dry and it was by far the best final ive ever been to in the rdfl, backwards step there by the rdfl and if it is true that the bloods will benefit from a rdfl final then im with the others boycott buying anything from them and support the people who work week i week out and support the rdfl tirelessly to make into what it has become today big thumbs down to those in charge:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Kilmore has done an excellent job of hosting finals in the past 2 years!!
It has one of the better playing surfaces in the competition!!

Warren "king hit" Carton copped his right whack at the RDFL Tribunal last night when banned for four matches.

This will end his career as he has been previously de-registered by AFL Victoria for going over the 16-week quota.

Once Again you are incorrect , in the bfl if sixth beats third , the winner out of fourth and fifth progress to the second semi final.

The surface, you maybe right, but how about the following down sides?

It has about a 4 metre fall from one end to the other.

The north east pocket is 'no mans' land and nearly unscorable from.

Standing viewing is primarily from behind the goals at the uphill scoring end and not on the wings.

The oval is on the top of a hill and is generally wind affected.

Winning the toss has too much bearing on the outcome.

And the final reality is that people, other than those associated with the playing clubs, are loathed to travelling so far as a spectator.

except for the fact that it has mt kilmore in the middle of the ground have spoken to many guys who have played on it and not many rate it. on the topic of kilmore what happened to them this year ??? a lot of boasting pre season and seems to me the wheels have completly fallen off the wagon over there, chin up boys it couldnt get much worse for you seems you already weathered the storm ie losing your best playing mid season, playing with 14 men due to being extremely undisciplined dropping numerous games you should have won comfortably. but all of that wouldn't come close to the pain and humiliation of being touched up by the boys who reside in the caravan park down at the up and coming booming suburb of rockbank!!! $3.50 someone mentioned was the going price for the rams might have to get some of that action !!

Hmm I was told today that it was the senior club running the day. Irrelevant if it is the junior or senior club, it should be a senior R.D.F.L club running the day. I would prefer Rockbank or even better Macedon running the day than the Bloods. Considering both Rockbank and Centrals compete with sponsorship dollars against the bigger clubs in Melton and Melton South (which we are disadvantaged) I would have thought that this would in some way help out with our financial situations. The league needs to have a serious look at this and really need to look after the senior clubs in the R.D.F.L and their futures and not line the pockets of clubs outside of it!

Well done to Rockbank, awesome effort and I have no doubt you will knock off Kilmore this week. Good luck guys! Can anyone tell me when Rockbank last notched a win (besides last week) and when was the last time they put two wins together?? good one for the trivia buffs!

According to the RDFL site, the decision was based on the netball court, not the playing surface. I think there is a consistent theme here of a very poor decision and the 'tail wagging the dog'. The reality is that Clubs and the Leagues are based/measured on their 'first grade' football performance - not Netball. If we are moving away from perhaps our best football finals location, due to netball, we need to have a long hard look at ourselves!! Can't always get what we want? We should if it is there!!!!!

POWER OF THE PUSSY!!!

correct me if im wrong but havnt they been playing netball there all yr?
and didnt they play there during the last two finals at MCG ?
not knocking the netball but think the majority of the crowd come to watch the footy not the netball, and if there is a crowd of guys watching netball think u'll find there not watching the game itself but rather the players who are playing it !

From the information I have Centrals are hosting the dual final but dont have the resources to run two canteens so are "subletting" the canteen on the main oval to Melton Bloods Juniors. The Senior club isn't involved at all. Centrals are controlling the canteen on the 2nd oval and setting up the bar to service both grounds.

KEEP THIS ONE ON THE DOWNLOW BOYS I WAS TOLD NOT TO TELL ANYONE SO ITS JUST BETWEEN US ON HERE OK.

i have it on very good authority that monageeta have secretly been in talks with the rdfl about entering the comp for 2009. the boys at the rdfl have approved there application and have been quietly going about constructing a grandstand and changerooms at the pig farm. apparently the playing surface is superb with ample nutriants from the pigs providing a soft and durable surface which should be right for round 1 next year.
greg miller is the new ceo and has been on a massive recruiting drive and is heavily in talks with the man who runs the show that is the rdfl lee james himself! my mail is that jamesy will be a playing coach and will recieve two pigs a games and a kilo of bacon for his sunday morning breakfast which he will no doubt forward on to his current teamate timmy mac. apparently he is rumoured to be sharing the coaching duties with the big bristle brian taylor ,who lives very close to the new ground ,is is also considering pulling on the boots for one last hurrrah.good to see the rdfl expanding :thumbsu::thumbsu:
