Any further info on the coaching jobs?

Havent heard much out of woodsy lately, or have i missed an announcement?

Also any word on whats happening over at Wallan? pretty quiet out that way. Good to hear kilmore have recruited a coach and a few players after a season wher they strugled a bit.

What about the ridell depatures? Is lee james going round again?

Dont know much about Ty elliot for Gisborne but what players are leaving them, and would they go to rdfl clubs or other places? like i heard rumours Messadi might coach woodsy, would he bring a few with him?

Mark Pederson has been re-appointed as coach. We are srarting pre-season training on wednesday night so hope to see all the boys there. I have heard that we have picked up a number of players but no names will be revealed until they are 100% confirmed.

To all those Clubs & Coaches trying to recruit to build a strong team & find a winning formula I will try and have a crack here for you for what its worth………..

OMNI’S CONTENDERS.

The first place I will start is in the Centre, that’s where the game commences & is so often re-started. Remembering that if my team has the ball then my opposition does not !
So I want 2 Ruckmen that are capable of giving my on ballers every advantage in obtaining first use of the pill. No 1 choice would be a slightly built “Bean Pole” with a good static leap. No 2 would be my wet weather or late impact “Man Mountain”.

Next I would focus on the Mid Fielders; This is where games are won & lost, and I believe with the modern game is the single most important aspect of a successful teams structure. Ideally I want 6 for rotation purposes, 3 in and under hard at it types & 3 outside running linkers that will deliver the ball to my Forwards.

Now that we have worked out how we get the ball we must have the forwards that can convert our possessions to scores on the board.
Here I’de like 2 “Talls” or players that can play as talls, fast athletic with a good pair of hands is a must. For the other 4 forwards I just want players that can read the play, crumb the ball, snag a goal or 2 & show an unrelenting desire to keep the ball in our Forward half.

Oh ok, just in case after all this our team doesn’t have the ball I better get 2 talls down back as well; Two blokes that are able to bring the ball to ground or take a good defensive grab would be nice. Back them up with 4 hard at it & fast defensive runners and the 2009 Premiership is assured.

P.S……. You better ask your President if you can borrow the Club Cheque book too !

Gentlemen it seems stat dad has more to offer than stats!!!! any clubs looking for a recruiting officer apply to the above post.

Jeez your a tool mate all the players wanted Ty to play in the grannie. Yeah i agree that some good players have left and as kingy has said they can be replaced. A few players that have left the club in past years are keen to come back

Maybe not All players were happy about TY playing in the Granny,Try asking the player that was GOOD enough to play all year and train as well to move aside for TY to get a game.

Farruga's x 2 Saunders, Bowes Sth Aus,McKenzie retired aswell Barham x2 gone JennaJ just close the door gissy is GOOOOONEEEE

I've been chatting to a few of my sources and hear are some of the whispers that have been floating about.

Mark Power is on a recruiting spree for Sunbury and has a long list of talented players he wants at the Lions next season. Forget 2010, Serge has next year's flag in his sights.

The following Riddell players will definitely be at Sunbury next year:
Lee James, Peter Robertson, James Petran and James Climas.

Tom Waters has been offered money too good to refuse and is a 95% chance to play at the Lions.

Riddell midfielders Aaron Blade and TMac are also looking to come across.

Houlihan will definitely return to Sunbury.

Jason Elliott who won a league medal in Cairns is coming back.

Sahlberg and Hurst will leave Keilor and go to Sunbury.

Moama boys Luke Allen, Jamie Lobb, Scott Lobb and Sleighty are also in the mix to head to Clarke Oval.

Hmm. All RDFL clubs would want to sign their key players on CONTRACTS (read this Kilmore), so Sunbury's splurge doesn't claim a few more RDFL stars.

God you pull crap out of your back side. Waters came to Power asking for big money and was turned away. A gun 20 year old in the RDFL is not going to step up an dominate BFL. He has gotten way ahead of himself after winning a Bowen. Blade and Tim Mc would not play seniors so if they do come it would be to strengthen the 2's. Luke Allen no chance. Don't worry about a splurge - Power cannot win a BFL premiership by recruiting RDFL players that you think are stars. Lee James will struggle against the better backman and would not be in the best 15 forwards in the comp. If he gets the 2nd or 3rd best backman he may be ok.

Had a beer with serge on Friday and definately not interested in RDFL players. Robinson by all reports is his apprentice who should be playing at a higher level, but has chose to play with his mates at Riddell Again. (Signed on Thursday Night). As for Lee James no chance of returning to Sunbury as he and Serge do not get along. Timmy mac was lucky to get a game at Riddell this year So Please:thumbsdown: I go to trade school with Petran and he has suggested he is staying at Riddell. As for Houlahan he played at Keilor this year and won the Flag, so No chance.
RDFL is 15 Goals behind any descent standard so any thoughts of Sunbury, Gisborne or any Essendon district clubs picking the eyes out of the luegue is embarrassing on your behalf Nichols.
My tip is Riddell to be dominate again.

Kings Army I'd watch what you say otherwise I might have to get a solicitor to knock on your door.

Anyway back to the RDFL stuff, I said that is what I've been hearing, not what is gospel. Some of the things actually came from the horse's mouth too. While I agree TMac wouldn't be up to senior BFL standard, Bladey would make a good pinch-hit player off the bench. Slugga would also hold his own now. This isn't the BFL of 10 years ago we are talking about. I'd be surprised if Waters chased Serge, but I'm not going to say he didn't. Still, if Sunbury looked at development for a change, they'd be mad not to snap him up, because he'll be a superstar in two years.

At least you got ONE fact correct in your most recent contribution !

Considering the RDFL has no talent and all of our stars would be inferior players in competitions such as the Bendigo and Ballarat leagues let me pose this question to readers.

Since when have clubs like Sunbury and Gisborne offered money for reserves players?

I know of over a dozen players from the RDFL who have been approached by these two clubs to come across and play in 2009.

Is this fact?
How many clubs do this, i know a few EDFL clubs would go out and offer many players large contracts knowing that only 22 can play, if they don't cut it, they won't get paid, it will strengthen the 2s and add a bit off depth. clubs have been doing that for years. What is to say that the likes of the clubs above aren't doing this. But that would surprise me, both clubs would be too proud to take that approach.

I also forgot to mention Kyneton, Melton, Melton Sth, Darley and Bacchus Marsh who are amongst the clubs trying to poach RDFL talent. I don't see why BFL clubs think they can neglect their junior development programs and just pay for RDFL and other smaller district league guns.

Really, good luck to them, i'm sure most RDFL clubs are doing the same. It is up to us to maintain and improve our lists for our league to gain respect.

More rubbish from you Nicholls, i cannot believe you are a journalist
The amount of shit you post on here absolutely amazes me.
Gisborne have spoken to 1 player from the RDFL and that is an absolute fact.

I meant combined between Gisborne and Sunbury. Not that Gisborne alone had contacted over a dozen RDFL players. Also, if Ty Elliott is still trying to contact James Climas, he is already signed for 2009.

Nicholls, I dont know much about you, I assume your the reporter, I know a bit about your league though, I can tell you this, Melton South Senior Football Netball CLub have not pursued a player from the RDFL to come and play with them for 09........FACT!
James is a gun in your comp, and was serviceable at Sunbury without being a regular, just remember, when he played in the BFL it was a division 2 VCFL league, it has since come runners up and 3rd in division 1 in the last 3 years. He may be a better player now than then i dont know. But if the gap was closer you may find more ol RDFL clubs would entertain the thought of returning.
