Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Just sending my congrats out to those involved with Macedon CC for winning the B-grade flag on the weekend, good to see the Cats back in McIntyre. I know you'll stay there too! It'll be interesting to see who wins the top grade flag too! I know the Marsh made an incredible 406, but if any side can chase them down it is Woodend.
Although Hesket looks like losing in D-grade, it was good to see them win the G-grade flag, even if it was stacked full of talent.
Our boys won the E-grade premiership, bowling the Marsh out for 81, with Justin Pattinson (probably a McIntyre player) taking 4-28, which included a hat-trick. The next day we went on to score 275, with Patto making 109.
Celebrations went long and hard into the night, with yesterday's win breaking a 39-year premiership drought at Lancefield CC.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Congrats to all winning teams, the c grade grand final in a very interesting position with wallan winning the 1st innings but st anthonys now have a 160 run lead with one wicket left in hand. Been a few heated altercations aswell. Should be a good days play next saturday.

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Looking for a 4 qtr twilight hit out (late notice I know) perhaps this Thurs or Fri night, or one night early next week - more for my younger blokes (majority of them 18-22) as we had a game lined up for Sunday morning that has been cancelled. Happy to travel or meet at a suitable venue as our ground is outa action until first weekend of April. Like I said it's more to give the younger guys on the list a run around, if anyone can help call me on 0419 363 845 :thumbsu:

Did u hang around long enough to see the big menacing old bloke running around???? The only menace he was, that the younger blokes kept falling over him all the time, might be time to join you on the fence omni?:D
The boys did look fit though didn't they. The young lads from 07 now have bigger bodies and look a couple of yards faster, and the recruits are fitting in well....bring it on..Look forward to catching up with friends and foes.:thumbsu:

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

I heard a rumour from a reliable source that older Keenan is coming back from overseas. Might be a very good late inclusion to Romsey lineup?or i know he lives in sunbury so the kangeroos might get a valuable inclusion. Ive known him for a few years but could someone closer to contact confirm? has any of his mates at romsey heard from him?

Crackers has advised Romsey that he will play for them this year on his return from overseas.Matt Mclellan also a valuable late inclusion

Along with the confirmation that Warren Kairns will stay and the inclusion of Warren Carton from the EDFL (a tough onballer with great skills). All of a sudden the "biggest sliders for 08" don't look to be on such a slippery slope!!;)

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

Disappointing Riddell opted out of playing Gisborne this Sunday. It would have been a good opportunity for some of the Riddell players to test themselves and maybe pick up a thing or two. Let alone the money raised with the crowd the game would have pulled.

Spot on Kingaroy, Would of pulled a massive crowd (remember 1999). Imagine J Allen on J Barham, Matty Mckenzie on L James, J Belleville on M Fitzgerald.

Scooter was a bit concerned about the end result but i think this game would be a lot closer than most people think.

Maybe next year.

Whats the go with Sunbury (Lions) pulling the pin on the game anyway ?

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

This is by no means having a dig at Riddell here, because everyone on this thread knows how much I respect them, but there is no way known they could get within 10 goals of Gisborne.

The Bulldogs are an unbelievable country football unit, with no real weaknesses across the board. Whilst Riddell have been the standouts in this comp for the last five years in terms of consistency and win/loss ratio, they are a long way off being a top Bendigo league side.

Sure it would be great to see the aforementioned match-ups, but over four-quarters, the Gisborne boys would be at least 20-30% better. Lee James would probably beat Matty McKenzie, but wouldn't get enough good supply from his midfielders under the Bulldogs' pressure.

If the RDFL All star team played Gisborne, even then I don't think we'd win. It would be a great contest though!

Re: R.d.f.l Thread 2008

If anyone cares, Gisborne are playing Marby Park instead at Gisborne on Sunday at 12.30pm.

that will be cracking game to watch, for those who are interested in the edfl, marby have spent up massive to survive in the a grade n are looking at a top 2-3 finish in their first a-grade season!

will be a great show of country v metro, although i think if anyone has seen or played on marbys ground it will be a downside for them, very small on the wings and in lenth!

take a note of rabee houcher for marby 3 a grade league b n f's and 1 b grade leauge b n f. could be a cracker if he goes head to head with either ollie or fitzy.

what the starting times bear? is it a 3 game day or a 6 quarter game??

i know this is an rdfl site but it shoulkd give an indication as where gisborne sit compared to some strong metro clubs, and see where the standard for the stronger rdfl clubs need to be at to compete against these powewr house clubs.

any othyer rdfl practice matches coming up soon now that cricket is coming to an end?

I agree that Riddell would be 8-10 goals off Gissy but i'd be very confident of the RDFL's best team (interleague) beating Gissy. The Bendigo FL is a fair bit off some of the best teams in country football, ie. the O & M, GVFL, GFL.
Would have been good to see some of match ups. McKenzie v James would have been a pearler, the old jack-in-a-box v the new one.

I have no doubt that they would be... :thumbsu: I was merely pointing out that I will be venturing up to Wallan.. If the game was Saturday I would probably go up for a cold James or ten... :D

Would look forward very much to that mate but I think you may still be of some use up the forward line menacing the backs & kicking a bag of goals.
Your body may also benefit from the ruduced work load up there champ, & Big blokes like you dont get any shorter come the latter stages of the contest !
