Kilmore - Easy. A. James. What a local metro/country league FF. Kilmore seriously would be donald ducked without him. Each of the 7 clubs he has played for in the last 8 years would agree that they would be 2 parts of stuff all in their respective leagues without him lining up in the 10m rectangle. Good luck to the club that has him in any given year and I know he puts up with alot of sh*t but still try to show a bit of class in the way you go about it.

A. James has kicked 63 so far, whats the chance he bags his 100th by round 10 ?

37 goals from games against Riddell (Very good defense), Lancefield (Arguably the best 2 tall defenders in the comp in Caton and Irwin) and Rockbank (Better positioned than last time they came up against James with Kennedy and Krul able to do the job).

Very tough ask I would have thought, Its a 12 goal plus average required, he has kicked double figures twice so far in the year...

and for those of you pre-empting AJ's goal tally...well be careful. about 2 weeks after i wrote this yarn he jumped the fence against Undera, got into a blue and got himself de-registered.

Sutton's record in James' reach
By Teo Pellizzeri
May 8 2008
Shepparton News

When the final siren blew on Deniliquin's 23-point loss to Cobram in the 1982 Murray Football League preliminary final, it ended a season of individual brilliance nobody ever imagined would be trumped.
Trevor Sutton, the enigmatic forward with freakish talent, kicked seven majors for the losing team that day to finish a season where he slotted an unbelievable 249 goals.

Tom Carey wrote in The News' report that Sutton's Australian record haul was "a performance that will surely never be equalled".

But 26 years later a player has emerged in Kyabram District Football League who might just give Sutton the best run for his money.

Stanhope's Aaron James is roaring along with 50 goals at 12.5 a game through the first four rounds of the season and doesn't look like slowing down after a 19-goal haul against Avenel last week.

If James can maintain this rate he will have 225 by the end of the home and away season, leaving two, potentially three finals to find 25 more to break Sutton's record.

Stanhope has maintained from day one its focus is on winning, not breaking records.

But the outside world has looked on in awe since James announced his return from suspension and arrival in the Kyabram District league with 10 debut goals against Undera in round 18 last year.

James has 93 goals in nine games, still a way to go to match Sutton's 378 goals in 38 games in two seasons as playing coach of Deniliquin.

Sutton played in the Northern Territory in winter to maintain his form year-round, and the 57-year-old now lives 150 km from Darwin at Wagait Beach.

"In the season I kicked 249 I was too busy coaching the team to worry about the number of goals I kicked," Sutton said.

"I'm not surprised the record has lasted this long, but I'm not really worried if someone beats it.

"I wish Aaron all the best for the season ahead, but I'm sure his focus, like any player, would be success for the team."

James gets his first look at Lancaster this weekend as Stanhope takes on the Wombats.

Very good president's lunch at Woodsy... The mini Chicken Parma's are a clear winner!!!! :thumbsu:

Blues 12 ate 40 of em!!!

Ease up, more like 39 i did leave 1 for you.:D
Yes they are brilliant and I am a chance of being a copy cat at my kids next B'Day party. A great concept nuggets with tomato sauce, ham and cheese.:thumbsu:

After he was given his marching orders from the RDFL ????

and the RDFL welcomes him back with open arms???

Like B.Hall....... is it just a matter of time

Huh?? AJ was suspended, at the end of his suspension he requested a clearance out of the RDFL, he wasn't given his marching orders....

The Clubs have to take responsibiity for their own supporters, ""Example"" last Sat a couple of trouble makers who could be from Sunbury make their way to woodsy, these trouble makers are informed by the Kanga's to leave the ground. They now know that they are no longer welcome at the Kanga's games! "Problem solved" Thats a club heading in the right direction. If you want success, it has to start off field before it can happen on field, although it seems to be happening on & off at the Kanga's.
Doona, were they under 18's or spectators?

Unsure what demographic they fell into, but the Romsey bloke who one of the Braodford committeemen went around to the troublesome area with said they're battling to get workers, I think it was mentioned they may have only
5-6 actual functioning committee members. The bloke from Broadford is also doing far more than he should be and then has to go and try and dissolve this too . . . all for what??? If they're anything like some of our ungrateful little 3rds then perhaps so - one Broadford 3rds kid (whilst playing) told last year coach Clears to "f**k off" on Satdy. I reckon it shows what Clears is made of to still go and watch these boys after not getting the gig for a 2nd term. Perhaps he wont anymore.........wouldn't ya love to be ten years younger again sometimes

sounds like someone (Cossies5) is a little bit jealous:thumbsdown:

it may just pay to look through cossie5s previous posts oldie. Hes a disgruntled riddell player with no balls to say who he is. He has only ever posted negative stuff on here and needs to get a life or learn how to play footy without ridiculing the ones that can. Jamesey served his time, get ova it. Let me guess kilmore are playing riddle this weekend????
Its w***ers like cossie 5 that the rest of the competition hope they get beat. I hope james kicks 12. Perhaps put your name to your rubbish before you slam rdfl big guns.afterall they are the ones i pay my money to watch:thumbsdown:

I have to say whilst it's handy having a couple of young fella's in the side, it's great not having to put up with young kids who have no respect and bring the club down, it's a real problem in todays society, just ask the Mont FC.

Believe what u want Kwame but the results are speaking for themselves atm...Kilmore U18s have lost one game for the yr, the twos have lost one game and the ones have won 5 on the trot...its a flow on effect that u see at most of the succesful clubs...i.e Riddell and Macedon

Doona, I watched a game against Rolling Meadows at Harley Hammond Under 18's earlier this year and could not believe the kid sent off was smoking 2 darts before half time sitting on the bench. The kid can play as well so couldnt work that one out.
All I can say about Under 18's is that its a completely different world these days. I used to live for training and playing and these days your lucky to get them at training 1 night a week as COD (Call of Duty for the uninitiated) usually keeps them home 1 night a week. There are some very good kids who still love it but they seem to get drawn to better standards and leagues so my question is will the change to the RDFL be successful for Broadford if the feeder of Under 18's isnt working as harmoniously as it should?

Plenty of young blokes like to blame everyone else these days as opposed to knuckling down and becomming a better player and/or person. Were some real ungratelful disrespectful little $hitheads involved with our 3rds last year, no idea the make-up of this years side but I could narrow it down to 2-3 for the instance you refer to.

As for your second question . . . . . . No  The bulk of those that hijacked and influenced the switch (and many that even voted for it) have already moved on - and of all the reasons they used to push their case, many have failed horribly so far. But it's still only 18 months in, and unlike our last year of HDFL (2008) we are fielding a 3rds team each week so it's a starting point

RDFL 2010 Season - Round 8

Nearing the half way mark of the season and the RDFL season is red hot and as entertaining as we had all hoped it would be.. Every week holds just as much importance as the one just gone!!!

Diggers Rest FNC (6th, 4-3) Vs Melton Centrals FNC (10th, 1-6)
Diggers Rest Reserve - Diggers Rest
DANGER!! DANGER!! DANGER!! The warning bells are a ringing at Diggers Rest this week as they face a real danger game against the rapidly improving Centrals side. The Burra were gallant against the Bombers last week with the next level of players stepping up to take it to the top dogs. Stuart Clarke is leading the way in 2010 and going by the players listed in the best he would be the favorite for the Burra B&F. The Burra have a mountain of injuries to contend with. Although Daniel McCabe and Daniel Poynton both played last week, Shaun Sims, Steve Ruane, John Ryan and Cole Laurie all missed again, that is a fair list of players for the Burra to cover, especially inspirational captian Sims. Yet, the Burra are still competing, but they desperately need a win here or they risk slipping off the pace after an outstanding start to the season. They have lost their last 2 games against the Kangaroos and Riddell and a loss here would have them sitting at 4-4. Melton Centrals are really starting to make a charge, early in the season I would have had them only above Broadford in the season but since their first win of the season (against Broadford) they have suffered narrow losses to Kilmore and Lancefield and were right in the game against the Redbacks till 3 quarter time. Coach Paul Sproule would be buoyed by the form of Ben Notman and Jamie Kitchen who have been sensational in recent weeks, while Brian Wheelahan and Kane Bullen as leaders of the club are also in great form. Centrals have a real opportunity here to cause an upset and wouldn't they just love to get the win and go into the half way mark full of confidence. Brett Payne has been a great focal point for Centrals and will need to step it up again this week to create opportunity, not only for himself, but for the crumbing forwards. Both of these sides pride themselves on winning contested football and this game will be a good tough contest for the fans.
Game Key: Impacting the scoreboard. Putting scoreboard pressure could hold the key here, the Burra haven't been setting the world alight when it comes to scoring in 2010, if Centrals are able to put early scoreboard pressure on they could control the tempo for the remainder of the game and make it hard for the Burra to find where their next goal might come from.
Centrals by 10 points.

Wallan FNC (7th, 4-3) Vs Sunbury Kangaroos FNC (2nd, 6-1)
Greenhill Reserve - Wallan
The Magpies would be riding a wave of confidence after springing back into form while delivering a good old fashioned beating to the Rams last week. They were able to find winners all over the ground starting in the midfield, where Shane Jacobs and David Saliba dominated around the clearances and gave the Magpie forwards plenty of opportunity. Tevita Fonua was the player able to capitilize with a bag of 7 goals, while Gavin Langborne continued his consistent season with 3. I questioned the Magpies ability to kick a big score last week and even though they gave the Rams a touch up, they still failed to top the 100 for the round, will that be the problem for them again this week? The Roos bounded into Woodend and found a gallant Hawks line up there waiting. At times the Hawks looked to get a good run on and challenge the Roos, but in the end they were too strong. Adam Fenton played his best game for the year, but Darragh McGovern again dominated for the Roos. His ability to win the football and send the Roos football cannot be questioned, his contest this week with Carl Groth will be worth watching. Roos recruit David Caccamo will be better for the run and the Roos are steadily perfoming better as a unit as the year goes on. The Roos have so many key forward options that opposition sides will need to be wary of all of them, a luxury for the Roos. If one is shut down then another 1,2 or 3 of them are sure to have the impact. The weather could play a key role in this game, if it rains, then the Magpies would almost start favorites, but the Roos are in good form, the rain might just be another opponent/obsticle that they can push aside.
Game Key: The weather, if it rains all day it will help the Magpies as they don't have the talls to match up with the Roos forwards. But they didn't have a match up for James either.. What they did was win the ball through the midfield, the midfield is the Magpie strength, they need them to stand up this week.
Sunbury Kangaroos by 15 points.

Broadford FNC (12th, 0-7) Vs Woodend/Hesket FNC (9th, 2-5)
Harley Hammond Reserve - Broadford.
Back we go to the best named ground in the RDFL for what should be a great game of football. Broadford will be confident heading into this game after a really good showing against the Redbacks last week. Apart from the 2nd term, which the Redbacks 8 goals, the Roos were able to take it right up to last years Grand Finallist. This week they come up against a Hawks side that has been depleted a little by injury and are in a self admitted rebuilding phase. The Hawks were gallant last week and early in the 3rd term looked like they would take it right up to Sunbury before peetering out in the last quarter. Some of the Hawks players did look tired and clearly hampered by niggling injuries. Sam Bowen was back to close to his damaging best last week, causing plenty of headaches across the half back line and midfield before switching forward and becoming a target, while Rory Cross looked dangerous all day, he is really quick on his feet and looks to play on at every opportunity. The Hawks though needed targets, Matt Knox was named in the best but at times struggled and had to head to the backline in the 3rd term to get into the game. Ross Waters always looks dangerous, but running around in the midfield he isn't going to have the same impact on the match as he would as a forward. It was refreshing to see James Hardwick in the middle though, while Joel Goodyear was excellent. At home, Broadford have to be rated a shot here against the struggling Hawks and hopefully with the confidence gained through last weeks game, they will be up and about and turning this one into a fantastic contest.
Game Key: Targets, The Hawks have them but have to use them right. Knox, Ross Waters and even Jesse Waters after his eye catching first term in the reserves up forward last week need to be put into the game from the midfield, at the moment, too much football is heading towards Hepburn, Cross and Co.. They should come into the game if Knox and Waters cant take the contested mark. Broadford use Mick Edwards as a target at the moment, but it couldn't hurt to send a Grant Wearne or Michael Gillard forward this week to impact the game.
Woodend/Hesket by 28 points.

Rockbank FSC (11th, 1-6) Vs Romsey FNC (8th, 2-5)
Ian Cowie Reserve - Rockbank
Disappointing, that is what the Rams have been after such a promising start to the season. Everyone is certainly hoping for a Rockbank revolution leading to them being much more competitive, while they are competitive, they just haven't improved enough. The recruits are doing their job. Jackal, Zerafa and Kennedy have been trying hard, as has coach Lee Spry, but the Rams seem not to be as improved as we thought they might have been. Was good to see that Matty Krul returned to the side last week, while Brendan Newitt and Ben Palmer continued their good form. The Rams just need so much more from some in the side, it seems they are just not getting an even contribution. After such a bright start, we all wait for that next step to take place. Hopefully it isn't too far away. The Redbacks won last week, but that was all, they didn't set the world on fire and at times seem to be going through the motions. Gary Moorcroft is starting to find form though and that is a worry for any side in the competition. In the corresponding game last year, Gary had 8 on the board when the game was called off, so will be interesting to see how different the result will be this time around, especially as Gary will spend most of his time in the midfield this time.
Game Key: Confidence, at the moment, any side that comes up against the Redbacks has a real shot if they can get on top. The Redbacks have really struggled to find that consistency, a ferocious attack early could rattle them out of the game. The Redbacks are a physical outfit, they are capable of doing it.
Romsey by 44 points.

Kilmore FNC (4th, 5-2) Vs Riddell FNC (1st, 7-0)
JJ Clancy Reserve - Kilmore
The Blues are on a roll, 5 wins on the trot and last week the best performing team in the competition with a big win over fellow finals contenders in Macedon. But the real test for the Blues has arrived, there is no bigger game in the first half of the season to highlight where the Blues are at as a side. The big man up forward is in sparkling touch, a big bag against the Cats last week and now has his sights on demolishing the best in the competition. The Blues next level are finally starting to show that spark that the side really needed to be a contender. Justin Collis, Trav Hede and Shaun Garland in recent weeks have really given the Blues another dimension rather than just relying on James, Robertson and Booker. After last week, the Blues really now have to be considered a contender and a win here will certainly plant them as a top 4 side. The Bombers are just playing Riddell football, they are simply better than the rest at this stage of the season and this week to the Bombers it is just another contender, another opponent that they need to take down a notch, another challenged pushed to the side. The Allen brothers are in vintage form for the Bombers. Jay marshalling the backline and Brayden dominating the ruck. Will be interesting to see who goes to James this week, I tend to lean toward Brayden even though that might take some of the drive from the Bomber midfield. Gerard Liddell, Cam Casson, James Climas, Matt Sammut, just some of the names that rotate through the midfield and create headaches that opposition sides just cannot stop. The battle this week of Robbo and Booker against Liddell and Climas could just be one of the keys to what looms to be a ripping contest. Against Sunbury, the key issue for the Blues was that the supply forward wasn't easy, lack of pressure on the delivery inside forward 50 in recent weeks has allowed James to go on a scoring rampage. They might not have it so easy this week. The Blues will have defensive headaches of their own. Trying to stop a forward set up that is the highest scoring the the league by a long way. Mick Allen, Matt Baird, Cam McCabe, Gerard Liddell and Rick Elliott have all booted more than 10 goals for the season proving just how many options that the bombers have going forward. Open spaces, the biggest names, this game looks to have everything that RDFL fans want to see in 2010..
Game Key: Forward supply, both sides have potent scoring potential (number 1 and 2 in the comp), it is going to be up to the midfield and half forward lines of both sides to ensure that there is plenty of opportunity for that potential to shine.
Riddell by 35 points

Match of the Round
The Feline Cup
Lancefield FNC (3rd, 6-1) Vs Macedon FC (5th, 4-3)
Lancefield Park - Lancefield
The battle of the Felines will be the match of the round this week with both sides having so much at stake. The Tigers have been on a roll since their big round one loss to the Bombers, 6 wins straight and full of confidence for this weeks big one. Like Sunbury, a win here will almost sew up a top 4 spot and put paid to another top 4 contender. The Tigers are starting to put things together. Ben Talbot shouldn't be far away from returning, while the experienced players are in great form. Travis Smith, Chris Collins and Tommy Waters have dominated recent weeks and will want to continue that form against the Cats, who have been disappointing in recent weeks. The opportunity at really pushing the top 4 presented itself to the Cats last week at home and they were blown away by the Blues. The Cats have talent to burn, there is no doubt about that, but again, the question has been asked, can they stand up to the physical battering that opposition sides hand out, so far, it is questionable. There is no doubt that they miss Andrew McArthur and will be ultra keen to see him return as he adds the contested ball factor, at the moment, it is being left to James Wright and Darren Goodwin to carry the contested ball workload for the Cats, that is just not enough. This week they find themselves up against one of the best contested ball teams in the competition. It is time to stand up and be counted for the Cats, otherwise, the Tigers might just put a dent in the armour big enough to still witness come finals time.
Game Key: Contested football. Ok, so I already mentioned it, but it is just so important this week for the Cats. Lancefield are an excellent contested ball winning side around the stoppages, if the Cats let them do as they please they will find themselves chasing Tiger tail all afternoon.
Lancefield by 22 points.
