Wins against top 6 teams and remaining games against top 6 teams.

Wallan only beaten rupo, Romsey (under water) = 2 with one left.
Rupo beat romsey, macedon, riddell x 2, wallan =5 with none left
Diggers beat riddell, rupo x 2, macedon, wallan =5 with none left
Riddell beat macedon, diggers, wallan, Romsey = 4 with 2 left
Macedon beat riddell, diggers, wallan =3 with one left
Romsey beat macedon, rupo, diggers, = 3 with 2 games left

Wallan and Romsey have a huge opportunity over the next 2 weeks.
Wallan have only beaten 2 top 6 sides and one was in a monsoon. Got the best percentage due to playing the bottom two twice already. IMO need another win against a contender this week to be in the company their ladder position suggests.

Really hope the weather isnt as bad as predicted. Good luck to all teams this week!

As in past seasons, was July 31st the usual cut-off for clubs looking to apply to swap leagues - or given the vulnerable lancscape right now is it bit more felxible this year, allowing time for further discussions etc?

If it was in fact last Wednesday, do we know if any clubs actually have made an official submission?

I don’t know about official submissions but based on talk last Saturday unfortunately Broadford are as good as gone.

The loss of Kilmore and now potentially Wallan would further isolate Broadford would bring further compassion in their bid to move northwards.

That said, if Wallan were to leave then now would be high time to focus on Melton South, Ballan, Trentham and Kyneton as additions and shore up the league's catchment area.

NORTH: A straight line from Kyneton to Lancefield.
EAST: Following the C325 southwards from Lancefield extending down to Rockbank.
SOUTH: Following the Western Freeway from Rockbank to Ballan.
WEST: Following the C318 northwards to Kyneton (including Trentham).

The Ballarat and Bendigo league clubs inside the boundaries can remain in their current leagues should they wish.

I’ve been told Wallan are on the way back to the NFL.
Is this just rumour?
I haven’t heard that but who knows, throughout the year I’ve heard talk of Diggers, Rupo, Lancefield and Broadford leaving so it can’t hurt to throw another one in the bunch. I’m sure Auckmel could shed some light on this one?

I think iceman shut that one down a while ago but things could have changed since then? Their juniors play in the northern league don’t they?

I got told that things have changed and a move back to the NFL is a big possibility.

So Rod Ward has resigned let’s hope that AFL goldfields employ someone that has the clubs “best interests” in mind

Really? That’s changed quickly!! Can iceman or Aucklander shed any light on this?

Watch the demise of the Ballarat greyhound racing club now that rod wards taking over

I wouldn't hold your breath's, what's to say the next appointment don't come out of a text book, with little to know;ledge/feel or experience within the local grassroots footy landscape.

Was chatting to some folk a fortnight ago whilst over in Ballarat for football, and as much as Rod's name gets lent to a hell of a lot, we must not forget that he has also had directive's and a charter handed down from higher above.
AFL Goldfields extends beyond one person, there's a commission too as well as an RDFL Board and club representatives who obviously haven't gone too hard in recent times. Or maybe not one actual club executive member agree's with anything on this thread?

For me ... (theoretically of course) if taking on another league for the Goldfields Hub wasn't going to be supported by extra remuneration or personel to work a bigger parcel of land/clubs etc then who wouldn't say "you know what, this isn't for me."

Could get worse before it gets better folks, perfect time for clubs to stand up if they're not happy.

Secondly, its not for me to comment on the Wallan thing, I worked local media during the previous time they went over to NFL. Basically it was because many thought the RDFL was actually dissolving ... maybe all the uncertainty of what's going on and the fact no one from RDFL or AFL Goldfields are exactly filling clubs will clarity has opened the door for a pro-active club to have a look around and simple open dialogue with it's members and neighbouring options?

Mmm so perhaps now that sides have decided to move that the real facts here can be brought out and that is the Goldfields have failed miserably. Fair dinkum it’s not hard there should have been restructure 3-4 years ago in a big and exciting way. Rally the Afl get funding and create a super comp with relegation and promotion accordingly and there could have been 4 -5 divisions ranging from the borders of Ballarat to Sunbury. But i don’t believe they focused on this and now they are seeing the fruits of what they have harvested and that is KAOS. The only way this can now be saved is to call a EGM of all clubs associated with the Goldfields and for some Business people with common sense and no personal agendas to get a model together and get Afl assistance and resurrect country footy.
To many sitting on there hands for yo long disgraceful.

Clubs where shown the promise land in the Goldfields presentation and blinded by the real agenda $$$$ massive mistake, $52,000 annual fees says it all.

Real Facts? Club officials not of the same opinion as Big Footy contributors?

Rally the AFL? Who do you think AFL Goldfields staff have to report and listen to?
I'd say the RDFL Board and clubs may have not been as forceful or demanding as they had the right to be?

EGM of all clubs would've happen by now if it was a genuine concern.

Business People? Reading the WRFL thread (which you're contributing beautifully in I must add) in some part business people are a fraction responsible for whats happening in local footy, so getting ego's out of it to work as a collective interest of 10-12 mini businesses (clubs) and the actual game at community level may be tough to navigate.

I so hope I'm wrong

There's a lot of likes from Wallan people on post #1592

Sounds like the perfect opportunity Doona. Would you be interested?

Sounds like the perfect opportunity Doona. Would you be interested?

I had always expressed a willingness, and interest for over 4-5 years now in doing something meaningful within the local football landscape.
As a couple of regulars through here know, I was ready to have a go at a board spot 3 years back but when Kilmore had left, and then did our juniors there wasn't a hell of a lot to lobby for in my neck of the woods.

Up until my kids mum sacked me I was frantically trying to get into footy admin or something as I still feel folk from the front line can add value and experience over and above whats taught at a University.
I guess since becoming a single dad, I can't be so brave and sell the kids short, so whilst I'm itching for a new job - much like our local level footballers of the current era ...what I earn is so important to help my kids now.

Often when debates and conversations like those of the past few months bob up, I have a lot of conversations and meetings purely as an interested football person, but I'm thinking I may be too opinionated or not skilled enough to take it further.

I've also applied for quite a number of positions around footy, most times I don't even get a generic "thanks but not thanks" email, so again assuming I'm not everyone's cup of tea.
Been dabbling around the TAC Cup/NAB League now since 2012/2013 and can't seem to network myself appropriately in those circles either.

So unfortunately for all you guys and girls ... Big Footy it is ha ha :tearsofjoy:
