Secondly, its not for me to comment on the Wallan thing, I worked local media during the previous time they went over to NFL. Basically it was because many thought the RDFL was actually dissolving ... maybe all the uncertainty of what's going on and the fact no one from RDFL or AFL Goldfields are exactly filling clubs will clarity has opened the door for a pro-active club to have a look around and simple open dialogue with it's members and neighbouring options?
I tend to agree the league needs to get on the front foot more and hose down some of the baseless speculation.

On the other hand if there wasn’t so many people intent on trading gossip they wouldn’t need to.

Yep, starts with those elected to lead the RDFL, second then to those nomintaed to represent the shareholders ... the clubs.
If they think everythings cool then that's fine, for me I'm a bit like "a standard one walks by is a standard one accepts"

Secondly, I'm not generally one to gossip so I can only assume the Wallan thing may have some form of legs, due to maybe lack of transparency from point 1 above ;)

Not sure who you think you are calling me a liar but that’s what he told me that he didn’t play if you read my post it does state that he sat on the bench so that means he was at all games.

Who am I?.. the guy that was there, that gave Billy a high 5 as he came on and off the playing surface...

If that Abdilla bloke has anything to do with my favourite Rupo player (sorry Sutts you’re second ha ha) having to go and sit on the pine then tell him to get knicked for me :p

Next weeks round will be very interesting, spots still up for grabs, the coveted 3rd spot still very alive and the top of the table clash with Riddell V Romsey will also be interesting. Looks like Diggers play either Riddell or Romsey for that spot in the second semi.

This is going to be pretty close I would think, we will have to start calling u Nostradamus bro.

:)

Missed opportunity yesterday, but Riddell were just too good.

An alarming number of sling tackles yesterday which probably warranted greater scrutiny. Another injury, but hopefully not another season ending one. Wallan should have one designated kicker inner and they know who that is. Very impressed with young Nickson again down back. Give him the best forward.

I believe it has been discussed with the current playing group.
So the tail is wagging the dog at Wallan?
I would think committee would discuss and investigate. Then talk to playing group then take to members. Appears this is what has happened. Seems correct process to me
Players come & go. The future of the WFC is at stake here, its a board decision.

I'm of the belief it's a split room, certainly not player driven.
Some players in fact who may have committed for 2020 based on RDFL may not be as commital if a move eventuated to Div.3 football - but as posted earlier purely all speculative and info gathering based on the reluctance of the RDFL board/AFL GoldFields Commission and AFL Vic in general to offer up actual clarity about the football future in the region.

The days of secret squirrel stuff is gone where delegates may meet privately with leagues - a lot of leagues are actually approaching clubs now in a bid to bolster and grow their own backyards, and club committee's need to know they are custodians in charge of sustaining viable futures in the best interest of history, community and where they see that being managable in this changing local footy landscape.

Agree with slyone, clubs need to make decisions irrespective of current playing groups. That same group won't be the same the following year anyway. Obviously a key stakeholder, must be consulted Wallan need to make a call for where they see there future, where their club is going to best be able to draw a strong competitive home grown playing list. If the points stay in place priority has to be for any club how do we have a home grown footy side and where is our best chance to do that. The recruits then top up. This weekend...the last we see of Broadford and Rockbank?

Can someone please explain the merits of why the top 6 finals are the way they are? I still for the life of me can’t work out why 1 plays 2 for a second semi spot and yet 3 plays 6 for the same right. It just makes no sense on all levels. Just plain dumb.

It’s weird isn’t it but to make it worse the AFL used to use this system.

I know this isn’t a shared view but if it’s a top 6 I don’t believe there is a better system. Definitely not a perfect system though.
I disagree, why couldn’t 1 n 2 be gifted the second Semi spots week 2, 3 v 6 and 4 v 5 to play in the first semi week 2. It’s 1 less final but surely 1 n 2 earn a week off and both get the double chance. Seems a fairer system dontchya reckon.

I like it rewarding top 2.
Still reckon Top 5 is the best system. especially in a 11 team comp.
As ya less finals, less income. Not gonna happen.
