I can guarantee you right now. The Rupo 2019 side would’ve destroyed the Sunbury Lions side that year on Clarke Oval.

Rupo’s second string midfielders in that grand final were all elite. Hetherington, Cannolo & Matt Knight rolling into the middle after Swallow, Murphy and Muir started. Sunbury wouldn’t have kept up, exactly like Wallan couldnt.

That rupo premiership side would have given Sunbury lions a run for their money that year turbs, the location of the league has really elevated the standard of the league over the last decade

To each their own of course but the Lions side that year was quality & I very much doubt they'd be getting destroyed..
A Magin, Conn, Valles, Mick Edwards, Duhau, Bramble, Landt x2 trumps the names you've listed for mine.

Edwards, Duhau and Landt v Hetherington, Cannolo and Knight is a no contest. Rupo would’ve eaten them.

Defenders at Rupo = better.
Coach = better
Forwards probably even but if you take into account Makysmow might have had to take off at any stage to run from the cops then… Rupo wins there too. Keep in mind, Brennan in the 2019 straight out eliminated Sunbury team you’re talking up was a former rupo player who left when he started to struggle up forward and was Lions leading goalkicker in that final.

Add to that Putt was far too big in the ruck and played great and Sunbury didn’t have the ruck stocks to compete with Putt.

Disagree. Conn, Landt & Magin beats those names quite comfortably and then depth of quality puts the Lions ahead.
The area Rupo had the advantage was via Putt.
Maksymow>Knight as a small/medium forward.
Kempster arguably the best KPP across both sides too.

Come on man, Magin is lazy. Always was. Talented but doesn’t wanna work hard and Rupo mids would run him to the ground. Landt?.. lol. Come on. Conn is good but he ain’t winning that battle when they’re losing taps. Hetherington was dominating the VFL that season bud. Knight is a premier league EDFL best on ground in a ground final winning talent. Elite small forward. Makysmow can play but is a violent offender who doesn’t deserve to be and was piss poor by the club to sign him.

There’s a former Sunbury Lion that was in that Rupo side that is WELL ahead of Kempster.

Probably Rupo’s worst performer in the 2019 grand final is now one of Sunburys best. That says a lot.

Quite evidently you're flavouring your analysis with a lot of bias so we'll leave it here.
My point remains, I strongly doubt that Lions side is getting destroyed by Rupo.

Bias?…

Are you saying Sutton isn’t one of Sunburys best now?..

Hodgson has never been a great coach, does ok when he buys players in then bails when they can’t afford his recruits.

Big Melton south deal now will be hoping to act the hero buying some recruits and showing some life.

Give 10-15 young or reserves players 1 or 2 games and claim its development.

Then you claimed Kempster the best key back? How well you research that… haha I’ll presume you’re just a recent fan or recently involved in Sunbury somehow. Others have watched them a lot longer and know who has gone where.

Yeh, weird a
This is the most bizarre and pointless dick-measuring exercise I have ever read.

Over a totally hypothetical situation no less.

Educating children has great value.

Or do you want to stop schools too?

You clearly have an axe to grind at sunbury. I’m tipping you’ve Been involved with both clubs in the past 4 years.

I’ll throw my two cents in to the rupo 2019 vs sunbury 2019 debate,

The ‘bottom 6’ at Sunbury v Rupos ‘bottom 6‘ would be hypothetical where the game would be decided. Lions too much depth, won the past 3 reserves flags , Rupo would drop away after their top 10 or so players.

The bottom 6…. Jake Sutton Rupo’s bottom for the day and he’s Sunbury best now bud.

I’d like to know where you think Rupo dropped away compared to some of the guys getting a game in that Sunbury side haha.

Rupo had VFL players coming off the bench.

I have no axe to grind with Sunbury. I know both clubs very well. The quality of recent Sunbury sides have been average, the quality of the Ballarat League in recent times is well below what it use to.

I think currently a few people overrate the Lions side. Alex Goodson is an example, couldn’t get a regular game at Rupo at the time and moved back to Sunbury and became their main forward. Brennan started to struggle, moved to Sunbury and getting games.

They’ve added Rupo guys like Scanlon, Sutton etc from that side.

What happened to rupo after that day with the mass exodus. It’s prob the best side I’ve seen in the RDFL in the last ten years although those helmers side coached at romsey were very good.

It will be interesting to see in another 5 years time how good the move to the EDFL is for Rupo.
Two full seasons down the round and I wonder if it has been one that their members have been happy with ?

I think Rupo will survive. Kangas, dunno. I know a lot of people who would like to go back to Riddell but not sure the committee side of the club want to. They seem to think the grass is greener in the EDFL. And if they can only play/win division 2 flags they are better off leaving but at least they had a crack at trying to better the club.

You're right, footy forums are no place for hypothetical discussion about footy.
& fwiw Bigfooty is itself essentially pointless.

Covid. The 2020 Rupo side was going to be even stronger. Harrison Bult had signed and he was going carve up opposition defenders. 6’7, quick, great leg. Sadly the season got cancelled then a few went seperate ways after Nick Ash was no longer remaining as coach. Bult ended up back at premier league for Keilor and kicked 8 first game back in the EDFL.
