What's people's thoughts on Gilly and Warne saying Paine's captaincy has been lacking this series?

They are saying nicely what many are thinking. Paine is hopeless. Bad reviews and obviously just does whatever langer has told him to do for the session, zero feel for the game.

Havent played supercoach in a bout 10 years and any fantasy footy games in 5. I got roped into a draft. Can some one brief me on supercoach.

Who would be your pick to replace him from the current crop?

Cummins maybe?

Not sure they would hand the reins back to Smith

Draft is the best SuperCoach format IMO. That’s about all I can tell you

Loosebuschange.

They never give it to a bowler and he's the only fella who is a lock for actually having a spot, given Smith is out of the question.

Jfc not Marnus. He's a good bat and seems like a nice guy but nothing about him screams captaincy material.

These days with all the support staff around the team and the amount Paine seems to lean on Smith, I think the tactical side of the captaincy is overrated.

Imo Paine's been a great captain, considering the shit show he took over, I think he's done really well. Came back from England with the Ashes more times than Ponting, Clarke and Smith combined

He's been a place holder. When a game is close he's not up to it.
He's done the country a leal service but he is limited.

TBH I would argue that none of Ponting, Clarke or Smith were great captains. Ponting's record imo is hugely bolstered by taking over what had been built over 20 years from Border to Taylor to Waugh as the worlds best side with great depth outside of the 11.

Yeah but how much of those decisions do you think are actually solely his where another captain with the same coaching staff and leadership group around him wouldn't be making?

Clarke was an outstanding tactician, possibly the best captain we have had in the past 30 years when it comes to tactics. It was his aloofness and man management that sometimes let him down although even that was sometimes exaggerated by the media looking for a story.
Paine has been a good skip, especially given the situation he came in, but yeah his tactical nous and being able to make something happen through canny or inventive field placements or bowling changes has not been a strength of his. I can really think of anyone else in the team at the moment that would do a better job.

Your calling R.T.Ponting a Chris Scott!

Got blessed with some incredible cricketers in his time
Langer and Hayden = Best Australian opening partnership
Warne = Best Australian spinner
McGrath = Best Australian fast bowler
Gilchrist = Best Australian wicket keeper

Planets definitely aligned for him. Compare it to the likes of a Kim Hughes or Alan Border and they inherited squat
