My dad used to hate, and still hates, anyone asking him what he's eating or commenting on what he's eating or asking if he wants a coffee or to get them a coffee etc. For him food/drink is a purely solitary enjoyment unworthy of being mentioned or remarked upon.
When I suggested he could try and avoid eating at his desk if that was the case he didn't appreciate it. A strange man.
I am 100% in the same boat. I hate the idea of two people going to eat over lunch vs just going separately and getting what we each want. I hate going over to the in-laws and having them encourage me to eat more (I am 34) in the same way they encourage the 8yo and 6yo to eat up. I hate having to negotiate where the group is eating.
Give me the solo food experience every day.
