Is it the deception that he was sworn into these portfolios which was the issue or is it the potential he had to manipulate things after being sworn in which was the issue?
Both.
  • The Morrison government had already used deputies for several portfolios so there wasn't a need for this action.
  • The existing ministers were mostly unaware, meaning ministerial decisions could be made or reversed without their knowledge.
  • There was a kickback in place with the GG to maintain silence (how this guy hasn't been replaced yet astounds me, surely this violated the oath of office).
  • Journalism in this country is so shit he basically got away with it for months.
It was a corrupt as shit act, from a corrupt as shit government.

At the risk of turning this into SRP, I don't agree with this point as the Governor General should always act upon the advice of the Prime Minister (otherwise hello 1975 again). If the PM told the GG to keep it secret he should have no choice but to keep it secret.

Morrison was an utter sneak about the whole thing. Most of the Ministers were not aware what had happened, let alone the entire country. It was done "because Covid" but then the one time he used his secret powers was to overturn a decision (oil & gas project I think?) for cheap political points scoring completely unrelated to Covid.

I don't want your bat aids people.

In all seriousness I was at a close mate's wedding in Freo on Sunday, I thought for sure I'd get it then.

So far so good. The golden run continues
I spoke too soon.

I now have Bat AIDS. The golden run ends

On top of that my cat’s anal gland being filled with “strawberry milk coloured pus” cost me $1000

What a day.

The only plus side - skip the three night shifts at work, can stay up and watch the Socceroos and watch (hopefully) four days of cricket

Someone talk me through the point of view that what Scomo did was wrong - and understand I have paid no attention to it.

At a real surface level, I could kinda understand wanting to be across as many portfolios as possible during a really volatile period in the world, both health and economy wise. It screams of control freak and workaholic, but by rights he has appointed people to oversee these portfolios and they should have regularly reported to him anyway so he was briefed on what's what.

Am I understanding it at all?
Basically the issue is he did it in secret. Secret in the sense that his ministers weren’t aware, the elected politicians in either house weren’t aware and worst of all the public were not made aware which is contrary to the expectation - it should have been gazetted

ScoMo in his typical arrogant manner refuses to accept any blame for anything

Could have been worse, he could have posted about the colour of his domestic animals anal pus and retrospectively ruined a delicious childhood drink.

Also, sorry you have covid and that your cat got a aids from the Nesquick Bunny.

Hans Christian Andersen, Søren Kierkegaard, Niels Bohr, Ole Kirk Kristiansen, Viggo Mortensen, Prince Phillip, do you hear me Prince Phillip? Your boys took one hell of a beating. Your boys took one hell of a beating!
You know, it was just lastnight I found myself wondering where Viggo Mortensen hails from. Now I know I guess. Cheers.

Also, no Mary Donaldson? Or Hamlet?

Argentina hey? Well it was good while it lasted.
They’re still not a great side.
Messi isn’t the same beast he was in his prime, and he’s not even that effective with his national side.
The same side was beaten comprehensively by Saudi Arabia

I reckon the Saudi’s would have beaten us though, I think they’re quite unlucky not to get through what was a really tough group.

Argentina could beat us 10-0.
I don’t think they will though - I reckon we’ll be competitive and lose 2-0.

Comprehensively is a bit of a stretch. The Saudis were lucky to win really when you look at the break down.

The couple of first round shock losses were teams struggling with the Qatar conditions (Argentina vs Saudis, Germany vs Japan etc) and have regrouped and will likely make it through their groups whilst the Asian teams that beat them will likely miss knockouts. I wouldn't read too much into Argentina's loss. They will likely progress against us easily. An amazing achievement to make it out of our group, a memory cherished like 2006 was.

To the eye watching it, Saudi were the ones controlling the game through the middle. The Saudi keeper pulled off a few miracles, but by and large I’d argue the Saudi’s deserved it
