It's always dicey buying pricey items close to 30th June. Even if I want something within 4-6 weeks I feel apprehensive about buying it expecting it to go on sale and * me over.

I had the same concerns but the sale was already pretty juicy. I'd be spewing if we paid their full RRP and then this happened. As it turns out it's probably just enough to buy those Thursday boots you want, so like I say it's not stupid money but I'd prefer to have it than them.

Yeah Nick Scali couch and ottoman

Lovely, but mate you're crazy - you have 2 kids under 5 and you're getting nice furniture. I'm not getting new stuff til mine are 15+. There's popcorn so old it's encased in amber with velociraptor* DNA lodged down the side of my couches.

Haha yeah thus the leather! I'll lock them outside if they disrespect my new couch.

I still have a couch that I bought in 2003 for this very reason.

It also works for "I'm not painting or getting new floors until the kids are old enough not to trash it", but really I'm just cheap and lazy.

Good effort! We bought one 10 years ago and the legs are snapping off it, the frame is sagging and it's generally pretty cooked. Getting a new couch had to happen, and we didn't really want something cheap and nasty. I did consider a second hand one as a stop gap due to the age of the little ones, but the wife needed some retail therapy so it was an investment too 🥴

I agree with you about not getting an el cheapo couch. Couches and beds combined are where we spend close to half our lives, so you need to invest in quality and comfort.

My couch is comfy but I do feel like I need an ottoman. I've been using a dining chair to put my feet up. Would feel a bit cramped though, stupid apartment.

It was a reasonably mild Summer, which is not entirely a bad thing. Don't think it cracked 40° which is rare. Didn't have many of those days where it was basically mandatory to hit the beach because of the heat.
The dream tbh

It was sufficiently hot when I was there, but mostly just blue skies every damn day, which is all you can ask for. Certainly more than we got over summer

Would've been perfect for someone acclimatized to Melbourne weather. My brother comes over from Melb for Xmas here and goes swimming at City Beach on days I'm flipping a coin about whether I even go outside because it's not that warm.
