It makes you think if the foxtel AFL Show 'The Recruit' focused on players not playing the AFL, it might actually have a chance of finding a few.
Or maybe have decent industry professionals doing the recuiting for that show

The best guys are plying their trade in Clubland and we see the results there.

We have seen how poor Vossy is at developing talent at both Brisbane and Port

I know there's a heap on here who like to bash Douglas + MacKay but you have to be joking right?

Douglas will be top 10 bnf this year easily. Has had a brilliant season. There is no replacement for experience, a hard body, and his excellent decision making.

MacKay despite his downfalls is easily out performing Seedsman & Milera. Has had a very good patch since being brought back into the side.

Then you want to replace Hartigan with a bloke who had 5 goals kicked on him in his first game and then on the weekend Hooker/Daniher kicked 6 between them and he was on them for generous parts of the match.

You watch Keath get beaten by the Swans forward line this week.

Also getting games into Galluci & Pohokle will come naturally through their better SANFL form, which is nothing to write home about atm, and injuries etc. We are a flag contending side not a bottom 6 side who needs to get games into rookies.

Wigg is not AFL level and the whole AFL world knows it. He will be delisted and not picked up again by another club.

Douglas first half of the season wasn't that great, but he's definately found some cracking form these past few months.

I'd take Keath over Hartigan everyday of the week. His football IQ / ceiling is FAR greater than that of Hartigan. Not to mention Hartigan inability to hit a target coming out of the D50, you also won't see Keath running across a pack and blindly spoiling his team mates...every-single-game. Notice how well Kelly's been playing since Hartigan's been out? coincidence? I think not.

Also, you do realise Hooker kicked those goals whilst playing on Talia right? Keath played the majority of the time on Daniher and pretty much went on par with the 2nd best goal kicker in the comp going at 94% EFF

If Rance is the best defender ever, why haven't Richmond been even slightly successful while he has been dominating?

Having lever or not won't determine our success over this or the coming years.

Ben Hart was a better defender than Alex Rance.

Do you actually watch our games?

For example, it's been established Taylor did not kick 5 on Keath.

Secondly, Daniher may have kicked one on Keath and that's a might. This has been backed up by Roo. Same for Hooker. Keath was our best KPD on the weekend.

Secondly, Seeds for example has played ONE game this year. Now you're judging that he won't be able to match Mackay based on that one game? Mackay has been very good since his return but ordinary before he was dropped for the third year running.

Douglas also had a very ordinary patch but his last month has been excellent and I said he would be the hardest to replace. But he did have an average 2016.

Keath wasn't even on the field when Daniher kicked all 3 of his goals.

That is 100% correct. Sitting at the game looking at the display screen abouve the bench showing "42" while Daniher had his purple patch made me check whether there was an injury to Keath.

Daniher outmarked Talia for his first, made Lever panic and grab him for the second, and recovered better than either of them to soccer through his third. Pretty hard to pin any of those goals on the bloke sitting on the pine at the time.

I think a lot of Crows anger about that campaigner in Dangerfield was about how little we got for him ffs.

Had we got 2 low first rounders, then I think as a Club we would have moved on. But we got was basically sweet f**k all.
For some reason when an out of contracted star player leaves another club they always seem to get pretty fairly compensated, but for some reason when it comes to us, the rules seem to change and it's like the afl world expect us to roll over and accept massive unders. We should be more like Collingwood at the trade table

Crows Forwards are already saying that Keath is a massive competitor and difficult to best in marking contests at training. Wait till he gets a full preseason and more games under his belt.

Anyone know much about Aaron Francis at the Bombers? Third tall defender?

This post by Bicks

I think the big hope was he'd furnish into that big bodied mid that's all the go currently but the problem in that regard was always his lack of endurance.
Saw one of his VFL games here this year and played the unaccountable "Ricky Henderson" role across half back, took some intercept marks and played OK... can certainly roost the pill.

Two years in and still doesn't seem to have a decent tank for whatever reason?

I think Greenwood coming into the side has freed Dougie up from having to do as much crash and bash work. He does his best work as an attacking mid kicking the ball inside 50.

Structure is the key when you don't have an area on the field littered with AA quality players. Likewise bringing in another lock down defender in Kelly (plays tighter than Cheney) has freed up Lever to be more attacking.

Yeah exactly. I know it's been said how valuable the inclusion of Greenwood has been but when you take a real hard look it's amazing how much that lad has attributed to our recent success... the missing link for the game plan almost!

Yea I already prefer him over hartigan
Hartigan has his attributes. Closing down speed for a big guy is great. Look at his job on Gray on the first showdown this year. If or when Lever goes there is still a spot for him. He might be more in and out of the side than a mainstay however depending on the forward lines we come up against next season.

I think that's part of why he struggled last year. He's an attacking player, which you'd think would translate to being a good forward, but he seems to always do well with those attacking attributes when he has space ahead of him (which is why I think he wouldn't have any issues translating to that HB role that was talked about in the pre-season). That's lessened when he's stuck in the forward 50 with limited room to operate.

Also both playing in a winning side. I think it is to early to call on Keith. If you take Port as an example a couple of years ago they looked to have stars all over the park but if you look now so many have fallen as the team has gone downhill. I am not convinced about Keith long term but either way it is to early.

Firstly comparing our player development to Ports...Carn.

Secondly wasn't Keath so highly regarded as a junior he was selected by Gold Coast even though he had said no to playing AFL and choosing cricket, in the hope he would change his mind. He is a serious talent.
